[< 1 min read] open me! What do you think about the setup? What would you change? What should I do better? I want to do more setup upgrades in the future, and I'm always looking for ways to improve. A big thank you to y'all for watching. And thank you Best Buy for supplying all the components necessary to make this work! Please check them out. I think it looks really neat and pretty compared to the previous setup but I think it might need the arm rests ( although I'm not sure if it would hit the table or not ) overall cool build bro
A new desk, a new chair (Although my first thought was the same, remove the other arm wrest as it's more comfortable for your legs) and a new speaker system with a sub. I hate headphones. I do not like the feeling of not having one of my senses available. I use my ears to remain on guard. I only use headphones if it's late or someone is sleeping. And that is rare.
Finely! a set-up that is relatable for most casual PC users. No expensive butcher block tabletops, No RGB strip lights, just a good functional PC that can do everything that is needed :-).
I'm glad you turned the desk around against the wall rather than leaving it stuck out like it was originally, as I was immidiately triggered when I first saw it lie that! 🤣🤣🤣
As someone with a bad knee, I can tell you I would've had it that way to be able to stretch out my leg. Up against the wall like it was at the end wouldn't work for me.
Love the upgrade! The only thing I would do differently is the desk itself. It looks rather thin and not that sturdy in the long run, especially with all the new gear weighing it down.
I love reusing hardware like you guys have done here. Perfectly usable and delays unneeded upgrade for future points when they are more powerful and cheaper. Well done Oz and brother!
oz is a pro at sneaking in subtle jokes. on screen "how to look busy at work without actually working" this was a nice touch. now that its my first day of my new job today i should read this too
3 things: -Arm rests -Center one of the monitors, and leave the other as secondary on left or right side (usually left side is better for right handed people) -Move the plant to a side, he may use that middle space better to push the keyboard back and write on a notebook or eat food there or whatever
Personally I would go for a large middle display with the 2nd display, possibly smaller, in portrait mode on the side. It's better because: - your neck won't hurt as much constantly looking to the side - 2nd display can be used for websites, social media or other apps, a lot of which are compatible with portrait mode on phones - 2nd display can also be split vertically to house 2 different apps, like youtube on the upper half and discord on the lower half
This is a great setup for your brother's needs and hopefully he'll find it a little more comfortable to use over long periods. The only things I would suggest are that the gaming keyboard may not be terribly comfortable for word processing (a smoother action than mechanical keys can be faster for long-term typing) and although I like the 1 TB portable drive, any portable drive is subject to loss/damage. I'd probably want to set my brother up with either a NAS (small) or cloud storage for his documents. I definitely get ppls privacy concerns, but dropping a flash/portable drive by accident can lose everything. As always, a great look at budget solutions for personal computing and gaming. Always enjoys your videos.
YESSSS, The HS80s. I did not know there was a max tho. Simple setup. Excellent job with the cable management. Almost remind me of some of these office setups with all those cables everywhere. 🥴
That came out very nice and I'm glad you turned the desk around. I'd hoped you'd stick with the PC underneath the desk as I've always found it looks cool, the more desk space I can have up top the happier I am but if it's getting in the way I get it. I would however cable manage the USB hub underneath the desk, that way you just have to reach for the edge to plug a thumb drive in. Thanks for the vid, it gave me a few ideas.
I've never had a w@h job until last year, when I started the one I'm at now. Also, I've never had a job where I invested my own money into it. Since starting my w@h job, I've dumped more than I care to admit into it just to get the right setup that feels good and is conducive to a good work flow. I've finally settled on a 58" 4k TV ($276), 2 standing desks ($150 each) with one slightly tucked under the other, and a Razer gaming chair ($350) that can take my weight (I'm 6'2" and 235 pounds). After a year, the chair looks brand new with a little clean up. My job supplied my mini-pc, but the keyboard and mouse was very bottom of the barrel, so I replace those. All in all it was worth doing the upgrades and, if I was to change to a different w@h job, all but the mini-pc would still be used.
Might I recommend a slate coaster. Much better than the usual cheap cardboard ones that disentigrate and will stop your mug leaving moisture rings on a table. They are usually only a few euro. Other than that I will be copying a lot of what you did here. Looks great for a mini office.
I think I would've left it spun around like he originally had it, just for the leg room. As someone with a bum knee, being able to stretch out your knee is important.
Figured it would've been a TKL keyboard for space but that's still nice looking one. Why is PC sitting on top again later in the vid? Velcro not strong enough?
Would you ever consider a music production computer tutorial. In my research, I have found many DAW's require a strong single-core for their CPU, and it can make it confusing for what I can cut costs on and what I can't.
just curious is there any reason you opted to not mount the pc under the desk? i noticed it was back ontop at the end of the video instead of underneath. The setup looks great even with it on the desk
"your desk or workspace should be an extension of yourself" my expression of myself: a week of coffee cups, dog hair and a microfibre cloth that doesn't see anywhere near enough action
Oh wow. I fully expected a PC upgrade after you said that this is "good enough" for him. Maybe I'm just trained for expectation subversion. I actually have a spare desk that looks exactly like your brother's desk. I keep a mini PC on it that acts as my NAS. I'm not sure what else I would have expected... a webcam, maybe? If he doesn't do video calls, I guess it wouldn't matter. It could be that the video felt short and maybe suggesting some options for peripherals someone else might need. idk
This is what I tell people to do that have a good PC and have that fomo or upgrade itch. I tell them to invest in quality of experience gear like keyboard, mouse, monitor, desk, chair, lighting and anything else they feel will improve the experience and 9 out of 10 times, it's not their PC that was letting them down, it was where and how they used it. Simple things like this go a long way toward usability and satisfaction.
Personally I'd have gone a Keychron V5 if I wanted a full size keyboard. Sure you can't get it at Best Buy, but it's MILES ahead of any other board you could get, doesn't have the whole gamer aesthetic, has a version with a knob, and is insanely configurable via QMK/Via. Not to mention that for $85, you GENUINELY can't get too much better. It sounds nice, and it looks nice (in my opinion). It's even got a few remappable keys above the number pad. Oh and it's got a smoked plastic top. Just adds a tiny bit of flair! Believe it or not, metal on a keyboard isn't always good. Edit: Just got to the "sound test" of the board you used and oh my god it sounds horrible you could've done so much better. The V5 is literally $5 more. BUT I also know that you likely had to stick to only Best Buy, so I do understand it at least!
You did a good job, even though I would've done some things different, the pc would've been better under the desk, or maybe wall/monitor mounted, wireless peripherals and a cheaper headset would've all totaled to a bit of a better setup. anyways good job
Oz, i would highly reccomend you DO NOT GIVE THAT SSD TO YOUR BROTHER. Those Sandisk Extreme SSDs are becoming known to have a serious flaw and wipe user data, and Sandisk is reluctant to make a product recall (at least from the last time i heard). Avoid them like the plague. BEWARE. Give him a Samsung or something like that.
Can you make a video for a 1440p value Nvidia gpu ddr5 build with a good upgrade path without having to change motherboard, I've been researching this but everytime i come up with a list i see another review and get overwhelmed if i made a wrong choice, your input would really help me out Thanks in advance : )
he's definitely going to need a ne chair with an arm rest or risk developing carpal tunnel or some other wrist defect. It happened to me two years into working from home with a chair without arm rests
Hi, I have a big question, I already wrote to you on ig and last video but you didn't answer. Amazon can't find me a 3 pin splitter, only 4 pin. it is allright? that there is a 4pin for 3 fans? thank you for answer
I personally like the idea of mounting that tiny PC on the underside of the desk, but apparently your brother didn't, as it's suddenly back on the desk (with the flash drive plugged in and no sign of the external SSD!). Ah well, you can't please all of the people all of the time.

U r cool bro
I like it
Looks like the desk is slightly bowing, but it may just be an optical illusion. Probably would have found a more premium desk, but that's all.
A new desk, a new chair (Although my first thought was the same, remove the other arm wrest as it's more comfortable for your legs) and a new speaker system with a sub. I hate headphones. 2:46 LOL my brother in christ please change your fire alarm battery im dead. you cant be making us look like this
The smoke alarm battery needs to be changed
Lmao i heard it too
Triggering me so hard 😂
hmmmm.........
I wish Best Buy would have chipped in on a 9v battery. I kid I kid
I'm not gonna say it
he is back when we needed a budget setup the most.. Thank you OZ..

It doesn't take an interior designer to know that looks bad lol. Can't believe someone would set themselves up like that!
As someone with a bad knee, I can tell you I would've had it that way to be able to stretch out my leg. Up against the wall like it was at the end wouldn't work for me.
his desk being against the door, has a very specific reason, and now hes ruined
need to do something about that desks bow
what's a bow?
@@cruzmatt22 the desk top is slightly bent (downwards)
Love the upgrade! The only thing I would do differently is the desk itself. It looks rather thin and not that sturdy in the long run, especially with all the new gear weighing it down.

Dang great setup! I like the new calm vibe from ur videos. Im actually building one of your $500 pc's and so far so good!
I love the fact that ur bro know his hardware necessities and dont need that upgrade
That wikihow tutorial at the end was just cinema 😂😂
this is basically what I'm planning on doing on my setup eventually and this video gave me inspiration on what I can do with it once it comes to that
Crazy that just the monitor arm cleaned it up so much!
oz is a pro at sneaking in subtle jokes. on screen "how to look busy at work without actually working" this was a nice touch. now that its my first day of my new job today i should read this too
Loved the final message. Im glad I found your channel!
I like the wrist pad on that Roccat keyboard. Wrist guards are so underrated.
I love your voice and editing style man, keep it up!
hey man i just found your channle and i absolutly love it i love everything about it from it being calm the good choice of music .
Great video brother!! Being the techie guy in the family really helps out with other members in the family that casually uses 'em. ^_^
His smoke alarm going off with mine lol
I started cleaning my desk immediately, I mean while the video was playing. Definitely inspired me

ayooo PAUSE! Let me help you with that. Your voice sounds like a quiet storm DJ..
Nice one, like the inclusion of the plant. Sounds like a smoke alarm needs a new battery though.

just curious is there any reason you opted to not mount the pc under the desk? i noticed it was back ontop at the end of the video instead of underneath. The setup looks great even with it on the desk
Maybe it was too heavy for just Velcro tapes. It might fall off easily like that.
@@Enzed_ Yeah possibly. Don't want the pc falling to the floor xD
Just be careful evaporation from the plant overtime can damage the panels of the monitor
I have that exact same mount sitting in the corner of my room waiting to be setup lol

This is one place I would have added a new PC in. Similar form factor but much newer. Any of the N95 or N100 NUCs/MiniPCs would fit that bill.
