Some of the power of a kimura is that you can easily transition into other submissions. I use kimuras all the time as a setup for armbars and backtakes.
Oddly enough whenever I'm on bottom side control I give them bottom mount because I escape pretty easily with bridges, if they have a super epoxy mount I roll to turtle or give them back and try and rotate into a closed guard after the hook release battle, not sure if this is the way but it's worked so far!
SAME! side control is a BITCH for me to get out of so I spoon feed them mount and shortly oopa them off as soon as they grab my color or I can get a hold of an arm
Oh man i just discovered a little treassure with this channel, it's funny very educational and showcases high level rolling with ecually high level narrating, keep it up man!!
When I get stuck on bottom I love to retain half guard and work deep half/ coyote guard until I eventually get guillotined or kimura’d like the fun silly quirky blue belt I am
I know how Brock feels. I'm 55 year old 3rd degree black belt when I roll with high level blue and purple belts who are half my age. It's a always a challenge especially when I'm tired 😜
Thanks for posting this. Having trouble finding the motivation to make a comeback after last injury and I was feeling the same way - the best blue belts and purple belts half (and less) my age are feeling harder to handle, with their great strength and athleticism than a few years ago, and it can be tough
typically ill go for an arm drag to back take in closed guard ,arm drag is a go to. in open guard i go for ashi or de la riva, im better with those than butterfly sweeps. and in side control i survive
Today I had my first roll, I actually kinda managed to get back control, but damn its exhausting didnt get the armbar, but I managed to escape. Also came after a damn hard warmup in kickboxing. All in all im Happy but seeing this video mad me depressed😂😂
@@chaosplay3929 You just gotta keep rolling. When I started I did maybe 5-6 5 minute rounds per day when we rolled. Now I take it easy some days and go hard in like comp class and stuff.
Excellent roll and breakdown. On the bottom (being a heavy guy) I like to scramble and try to create a space to get up, or go to deep half guard (not sure if you call that there) Purple belt from Brazil here.
I saw the movie with black Phillip in it...to survive a round with Brock so handily you have to think Bath salts Ben has used some dark magic here. Oss
6:40 if you attack the kimura and they roll armbar is totally available and not understanding why you dont like letting go of kimura? get better armbar confidence!
Great video like always, but usually what I do on bottom or in a bad position and it's kinda a stalematein that position, is to shrimp and post, or and this has actually worked on more people than you think, I just start grabbing random places (pause) and act like I'm working on a move to get them to shift their weight a bit or just bail completely because they think I'm working on something they don't know about when in all reality I'm just feinting
I usually like to go for scissor sweeps, armbars or kimura attacks (although the latter is starting to prove ineffective against experienced opponents...). Also I like to push on my partner's knee with the foot to break the posture and force a reaction, the other day I managed to get an armbar on the left side from bottom by pushing on the right knee. Lately I've been incorporating the triangle choke to my game, but I don't have setups for it and I think I just get away with it because people in my gym are not familiar with the submission (I train judo btw, not jui jitsu)
Lol the part that Brock grabbed pants... Last time I (new white belt) rolled with this very good and strong partner, who grabbed my gi pants and kept pulling them for a whole minute, I didn't know if I would lose my pants or the roll first 😅😅😅 Luckily I tied my pants extra tight that day... Also, I simply try to avoid bottom position as much as possible. If I am in bottom side control I am just doomed lol
I get to full guard, and because I’m short with stocky legs, I just push off the hips and either work half guard, butterfly guard, or just fucking stand up and attack another way
I am indeed familiar with the buggy choke. The guillotine helped me the most. Yes it’s awesome for chokes, but it’s even better for sweeps. People also tend to leave their head available in too many Positions.
Love these vids!! I'm in process of having knee surgery ,I have 2 torn meniscus and can't been my knees or keep balance very well from years of fighting and sports!!
i recently got an herniated disc.doctor said surgery is required.i must lay off the mat atleast three months.i am realy sad because i iam so young.what can i do to prevent this from happening again when i return?
Strength conditioning. Lift weights. Don’t go hard just 3x10 whatever weight makes you struggle at the last rep. Do deadlifts but do them correctly. Focus on tons of core exercises: crunches, leg lifts, planks A weak core = a week back. Good luck. Injury sucks but it’s part of the sport. Give it time and let your body heal right.
Ppl don't ever stuff me to bottom anymore, my entire game is guard based right now so no1 likes getting close to said gaurd lol, they all stall until I attack,
I spent too much time learning to attack from bad positions so when I'm stuck on bottom I tend to attack. Like Kimura or triangle chokes from bottom side control. I have also been working my wrestling more for mma so getting off my back and back on top.
I think it's hilarious when you show what people are famous for lol especially Brock. Really shows he must be a humble and fun guy lol
Yeah I remember seeing that video many times haha 😂 nice to see him roll
Just being able to survive Brock throughout the whole round whithout being submited, is a good indication he is training a lot for the competitions!
Philip is a beast, very active on IBJJF comp circuit.
Cool stuff guys!
You've been absolutely killing it with the daily uploads! Great content thank you so much
I've watched Philip compete for a while now. This generation of jiu-jitsu fighters are crazy good!
I like your detailed break down of the match as I judo guy I love the versatility of the kimura
It would be cool to see Brock get a round in with someone like Matt Serra, Dave Menne or some other old school character.
You talk about brock like he makes you do his laundry
He does
Holy moly, found this channel by accident, what a goddamn gem bro. Wondering how you don't have 500k yet, greetings from Brazil!
Major props on your consistency in uploading content bro!! Thank you for another great watch
Another great video. I’m enjoying the mix of serious role commentary followed by comedic rolls etc.
When I'm stuck in bottom... I stay there
dude this commentary is both good and funny followed after first video
The break down on this is amazing. Thank you for uploading.

Very good control and set up technique. I know bc I get stuck in it often 😂

100% My best bottom side control escape is an armbar and that's it hahaha
Those are all mistakes and bad habits, fix them before reaching your blue belt
Oh man i just discovered a little treassure with this channel, it's funny very educational and showcases high level rolling with ecually high level narrating, keep it up man!!
Phillip seemed friggin legit. Just surviving is difficult. Nice job.
man i love watching this ! thanks
Figure four lock is incredible. You can sub, transition and sweep with it.
So glad i found your page man. love the content
that's perhaps the best I've seen anyone do against Brock (tired of course). Once he locked the Kimura grip I thought it was just a matter of time!
3:00 is the high low guard and it has its utility and their are submissions from it.
i start spamming shoulder escapes and babybridges. and giving my opponent funny eyes
Hey thanks for the concistancy of posting really enjoying your vids keep up the great work man!
The slow motion was so cool to watch 🔥
Fascinating stuff! I've been training for almost six decades (stand-up) but I have absolutely no idea re ground fighting. BJJ is certainly amazing!
gotta show brocks retirement fight mounted gullotine escape!
Hey actually thanks for that suggestion. Quite a good escape
This is becoming a regular part of my day. Damn.
The editing is so good keep up the work man road to 50k
When I get stuck on bottom I'm probably just trying to catch my breath.
Shrimping is probably a good idea
When I get stuck on bottom I love to retain half guard and work deep half/ coyote guard until I eventually get guillotined or kimura’d like the fun silly quirky blue belt I am
I love watching your videos man, even my roomates who don't train love your content. Keep it up!
Brock is a beast and Phillip did great to survive, especially to escape the armbar.
Love the brock rolls

Definitely felt like Brock yesterday after the end of my first day back training after getting covid a few weeks ago. Totally worth it though.
Love the content as always. Felt exhausted just watching this 😂 Having Brock on top sounds miserable.
I almost spit out my lunch when I saw Brock running around the cage to the Benny Hill theme music
Great Video!!! STC resident and I need to start up again.
Yo, how about Bath Salts Ben merch? BSB/BJJ 🤣🤣 great channel 👍

Good to hear man! Focus on survival and breathing!! Defense first, attacks after a year
@@towelietowel4513 Will do. Thanks for the Advice!
Edit: 2nd day today, I got completely destroyed, welp I guess I had it coming😂
@@chaosplay3929 Stick with it bro!!!

I usually invert when I'm stuck underneath, but I'm only a white belt
I was sitting here like 😳😳😳 because I wasn’t looking at the screen and thought he said “I lost me damn tooth” before eating it.
When in doubt spam it out

Please dont do scissor sweeps when sparring..
@@Franskern why
@@dawudhasan5960 I ment a flying scissor sweep.. Scissor sweep from guard is cool tho

"Bring out the red panties" - Brock, probably
Good roll 👌
Can you link a video of "spamming guillotines" from bottom?
Awesome video.
“Et cetera.” Not “excetera.”
dude can u upload 720 without the 60frames?
What gym do you attend?
When I'm stuck on bottom I like to try scissor sweep
Great technique
Get a video of Brock vs Ben!!
From bottom side control I go for a buggy choke

Where is huckbody, Landrous, and hart
A+ narration, red panty night lol
Im older less flexible...I wait for the top arm to readjust then go for the triceps pushover..
When I'm on bottom I hail Mary baseball bat choke
