The Kandao brand has a lot of potential. I wanted to buy their previous camera but it had issues and wasn't very popular. Hopefully this one is much better (and doesn't have the built-in fan!) and provides some competition to X360 and others
Thanks for the great review. I got mine yesterday and the insta360 x3 today. It's a tough decision! But I gotta say, the form factor is definitely better with the x3, the stich is better too. Also, the battery on the Qoocam 3 has a tendency to fall out because you got to leave the door open to charge the battery, so you gotta make sure it stays charging. Very annoying, and definitely better solved on the x3 that has a seperate door for that. Also: NO CHARGER available for the Q3, as far as I can tell?? So even though they send you a second battery, you gotta use the cam to charge it. Meaning, you can't recharge one and keep shooting with the next. Also: if you want to work on the RAW files, you need a second Kandao software called RawPlus to convert your DNG into a jpg that you then can open with Qoocam Studio. Why can't studio just open files? The workflow is already crazy convoluted. Also, having compared DNG8 from the Qoocam 3 with the TruShot of the insta360, frankly, the insta is still better, Has more clarity. So I couldn't see the point about more detail in bad lighting. On the other hand, q3 seem to have fixed the crazy sharpening issue in daylight already. I don't have those weird artefacts anymore. On the other hand when it comes to video, insta360 records their own file type which you cannot import with anything except Premiere. So you HAVE to do the keyframing in insta studio first, export it and then edit it in Davince or whatever you have. Q3 makes Mp4 files, so you are good there. However the plugins in Davince arent 100% optimized for the Q3 yet, so its almost impossible to edit as of now. So, either way, you can tell insta360 has 3 years of customer-centric design on its belt, Kandao does not. So the question is how long will the take to catch up? If they keep the more open standard policy, and work on the workflow issues they will be really really good. However, the insta 360 price has already dropped here in Germany, so its only 50 EUR difference now.

made a decision. The qoocam makes better photos, but it‘s just too impractical to handle. Its a shame but: the batter life is too bad and ot keeps falling out. I considered running around with a powerbank and plugging that in, but thats pretty ridiculous.

Thanks for another good 360 rewiev. I've already ordered and suppose too arrive on Tuesday. I own the 8K too and it was fixed for free by Qoocam with new battery and lens correction, so my experience with the company is absolutely fine.

thanks for the walkthrough, i got mine a few days ago and honestly the 62mp mode is useless and wouldnt make any difference. it simply looks like they interpolated it purely for marketing. DNGs in 16mp resized up , even without any AI, looks about the same as 62mp. With AI resize to 62mp (aka 11k) it looks way better. let me know if you found the same. i hope Kandao implements HDR video, thats the most needed feature imo for it to be MORE competitive than the x3.

Hi, so based on your review i get that in terms of video quality and stich accuracy, this camera is at par with indta X3 ? I dont care about viewing aspect on the canera itself. I want video quzlity and good switching. So can i buy it over X3?

I had two QooCams 8k and both had the same focus issue with of one the lenses. And I bought them more than a year after the release and Kandao was not able to sort it out even after a year. They lost my trust and I am afraid that QooCam 3 has been hand picked for reviewers, but consumers will receive cameras with lower quality. I will wait and see. ✌️
Qoocam 3 camera failed me on paid gig. Tested it on family trip and it was fine. Took it to use for client video and one of the lenses is recording in dutch angle and can't be stiched together at all in mobile app and studio. Due to ~-20 roll artifacts in other software made this footage unusable. Literally after 3 days of shooting it is broken already.
Geo tag for video means it is possible to upload video directly to Google street view to get blue line?
Not sure about this. QooCam 3 doesn't have bulit-in GPS
@@YuqingGuo it does not native support, but in you video of menue there is an option to check geo taging for video, meaning it would use GPS from connected phone to write GPS data into video. Can you explore this a little more, and maybe test or check with the team from Kandao?
Still the same ole 5.7k res, it's not mind blowing.. still 1080p when processed down. They've done 8k in the past, they should have reworked the tech. Also, the stich lines re awful in every review video I have seen.
Personally, I would NEVER EVER buy another camera from Kandao...regardless of what they are claiming.
I've already been ripped off and lied to by those people about the abilities of their horrible Qoocam 8K....and the terrible, soft, slightly out-of focus video footage it makes.
