Good review! I'm just getting started into MIG welding and I wanted this table badly. I waited for months for HF to have it available, but it never showed up within 100 miles. Then they poured salt into the wound by sending me a $20 off coupon for it. I gave up and bought the Klutch one at NT. It has the same clamps which I thought would be fine for occasional hobby type welding, but they drove me crazy. Every time I needed to move a clamp over an inch, I had to reach under the table and try not to drop the silly nut. I ended up just grabbing a couple bar clamps from the woodshop and welding an inch of 16mm SS rod from eBay on the end of it as seen on lots of YT videos. Works great!
I looked at many of the other unboxing/ set-up videos on this table and yours was the only one that did a great explanation on how to use the clamps/other fit up parts. Thank you making this particular vid!!! I was ready to scream trying to make a jig on a #4 18" radius!
To anyone else installing the LONG LEGS, the short ones ALSO get installed per PAGE 4, INSTALLING LONG LEGS. "Step 1: "Install Short LEGS first. (They are wider, so I suspect they give better support). Personally, I now have to RE-DO it after reading the instructions...lol
Can't find one anywhere at harbor freight. UPDATE: I called harbor freight and asked if they had that item #. They said they had one. And I picked it up today! Thank you for the information!
For folks in the comment section, if you look closely you can see the part number in the beginning of the video! I asked my local HF if they had the part number (59403) in stock and sure enough they had one in the back! It is not on the website (10/5/2023) and there wasn't a placeholder tag on the shelving with all the other welding items. But ask nicely, and you might get lucky! The part number pulled right up for them and it rang up at the register without issue. They even mentioned they were expecting another one to arrive on the truck later today, so they might be slowly arriving in stores.
Got mine last Friday is awesome , thanks for info was wondering if the klutch kit would work with it, I only found one low spot under a corner bolt . Love your channel you have really helped me better my welding skills.
Only since no one else has mentioned it - the box states .050 flatness, that’s 50 thou, not 5 thou as was stated in the video… it’s pretty likely that it meets the .050 spec out of the box it would be very noticeable with a straight edge if not…
Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. Correct the box does say 0.05 and on the one corner it's 0.110. In some of the shots you can see the straight edge rocking up and down. Other than that one corner it is well within tolerance.
Skip WD-40 it absorbs water over time and can result in rust. I've always been told to use something like fluid film, way oil, paste wax, a lanolin spray, or Boeshield T9
@@Kami8705 that statement/claim comes from WD-40's own website and is based on the original chemist's lab notes. As I understand it he never explained (nor did WD-40) what is meant by "water displacement". supposedly it absorbs some amount of water and because it's a lightweight solvent plus a lightweight oil it evaporates over time leaving the water it absorbs behind and the metal unprotected from rusting.
@@msk3905 as I've heard it it depends on where you live and how often you apply it. If there are better methods which are more reliable regardless of location and require less reapplication would that not be a better choice?
As someone who has been maintaining table saws, bandsaws and other cast iron surfaces for 50 years the best thing to keep rust away is plain old car wax. If it gets a little rust clean it up with a scotch bright pad and WD 40 then wipe clean and put a coat of car wax on and buff to like new.
Id be very surprised if anyone could prove to me that they came from anywhere other than the same factory in China. I got 2 from Northern Tool for $180 each including tax and delivery.

Came here to post the same thing.
@@franzv3172 they just arrived at my local store this past Friday.
HF needs to list the tabletop sheet of steel as a separate sale item.
If you doubled up the top you might be able to use regular style clamps.
That would be a great suggestion, table top only!
When will they be available in stores??
What is the circular steel you weld on? What is the description and where to find one?
It's a 1/2" "drop" plate. That was the left over stuff or drop from a larger project. Lots of times fabricators will just give it away.
4mm is 0.0305 inch less than 3/16
4mm = 0.157 inches
3/16 = 0.1875 inches
Difference between the two is
61/2000 inches (or)
0.0305 inches
Could you stiffen it up by welding on some flat bar or angle to the bottom side in-between rows?
Got mine today, nice table $169, had a 25% coupon = $127+ tax $138 out the door😊
checking for flat using a level for $30 from Lowe's isn't a good check, but I get your point
These are criticized for being light duty and they are. Not all welders build bridges & goose neck trailers. This could work for you.

Wd literally stands for water displacement, the 40 is that it's the 40th test. Unless that's just another internet myth

Is there a build video of your custom welding table?
Soon, very soon. I think I'll have that one done in about 2 weeks.
Holes are 16mm, a bit bigger than 5/8 and the same as many fixtures available; .05" is fifty thousandths, not five, which is 1/20"
