My hopes are that there will be a free update to join this DLC this time. I don't mind the addition of Megalodon (assuming that's what it is). On the bright side, we're getting another fish. Granted, we could have gotten better fish like Xiphactinus, Helicoprion, or Edestus. I'm hoping this is a Cenozoic Pack. Given the theme of adding the Camp Cretaceous species lately, I think Smilodon seems like a given. I'd love to see what kind of skins they could come up with for it. Other than that, I think a terror bird would be a lovely addition.
Well the community is divided, people are excited because they're getting there XXXL Great White shark and others are upset because it's not an expansion and are actually nervous about the free update again. Like I said before the hybrid pack under performed and now are in panic mode so they are going to fan picks. Hopefully they add massive QOL changes and at least 1 ride, the damn kelp and mountain perch for flying reptiles. That being said if the last pack is garbage and no great QOL changes I'm not buying evolution 3 on release. Because let's face it that's what they're probably doing. Only time will tell.
Yeah this seems to have divided the community again. Personally, i still stick to the fact that people dont use the lagoons that much anyway...so having a meg does bugger all for the game or the players if it doesnt come with anything decent as a free update like the QOL things you mentioned
The most thing I’m nervous about, is them fumbling the pack, they got FOUR SLOTS and this is probably the only DLC we’re getting for the Cenozoic, problem is you can’t just make four species from that period and call it a day, it has SO MANY GOOD SPECIES, and just giving us some bare bone ones (as much as I love the Smilodon and mammoth, I crave giant 10 foot monkey more) feels like it’s gonna be probably low blow. I could probably list off 20 species, but realistically, something like this to have enough mammals/cenozoic animals can’t just be four species ( six or eight respectively) so it might be one of the greatest DLC, or completely missing the mark with the species, which is a little concerning.
If its a 4 species cenozoic pack my bet is on meg, mammoth (they will resue the elephant rigging from PZ), smildon (reuse tiger rigs from PZ) and maybe a terror bird given the feathers textures they have now. I agree i could come up with 20 odd animals from all this. What i dont understand is why folks are so hyped for a big shark
You should write down your 20 species. I've done silly wishlists like that in the past, and it feels pretty cathartic, even if it will probably never become a reality. In fact, I'm gonna do a list like that beyond the "read more" for this comment because you inspired me lol. 20 species in a pack brings back memories of Zoo Tycoon 2 and the likes, I miss those old, old days. Read more! My suggestions for the Cenozoic DLC. I will explain why I want every animal, too, because I'm a nerd like that. 1. Steppe mammoth: Because you gotta have a mammoth, and this one would fit better into JWE2 aesthetics wise than the wooly one, being larger and probably less fuzzy. I figure they'd use the male as a skeletal basis. Mammoths are iconic, and any type of low-fuzz one would work well with JWE2, as long as it still has those curved tusks. 2. Smilodon: Camp Cretaceous. Probably the one guaranteed slot. 3. Megatherium: The most famous (and most large) giant ground sloth, to represent the group. Obviously iconic, and while I'd use a different sloth for any other zoo game, the huge empty exhibits in JWE2 would suit it well. 4. Eobasileus/Uintatherium: A "rhino-like", decided to go with one that still looks weird next to other mammals to ease the transition between Cenozoic and Mesozoic spaces. If you wanna reuse the Ceratopsian fighting animations, the similar but unrelated Arsinoitherium might be a better choice, tho. 5. Indohyus/Pakicetus: A fish-eater, basal mammal, and walking whale, all in one; plus a rather small animal to fill that niche. 6. Haast eagle/Argentavis: A big, impressive bird, large enough to at least measure up to all the Pterosaurs. If Argentavis, I would give them large, colorful wattles. 7. Presbyornis: A Flamingo/Goose-knockoff and smaller bird to fill a different, unique aesthetic in the aviary. At least as long as they still refuse to release Pterodaustro. 8. Andrewsarchus: The infamous (maybe) biggest mammalian land predator is an infamous name and would work nicely as a centerpiece of sorts for Cenozoic collections. I'd lean into it probably being related to Entelodons a bit, especially in the upper body and head, to get it to pull double duty of sorts. 9. Perucetus: Was gonna go for Basilosaurus, but the megamanateewannabe works better for the largest of lagoons. As a giant, ancient looking whale it would both be a unique look and a nice gentle giant to share the lagoons with smaller species. 10. Titanis/Kelenken: Gotta have a Terrorbird. The Raptors of the Cenozoic, with a unique look that differentiates them from "true" Raptors. I guess these are also among the biggest predators in the pack, which is a bit weird to think about. 11. Doedicurus: The "Pseudo-Ankylosaur". Doedicurus would be another funky South American mammal to share exhibits with Megatherium, and be considerably low effort to implement by mammal standards. Alternatively, Glyptodon works too. 12. Archaeoindris: Was gonna go for Gigantopithecus, but... I can't in good conscience add a great ape to the one zoo game without enrichment items. So Gorilla lemur, it is. Archaeoindris is a large ape(-like lemur) thing that lives on the ground. The closest JWE2 can reasonably get to great apes, again, without adding new mechanics. 13. Macrodelphinus: Eurhinosaurus at home, at home. Marcodelphinus is a quite big dolphin that still has unique stuff going for it in the shape of an elongated upper snout. It works nicely as a prehistoric companion to Perucetus, at least until Frontier adds calving to the game, and fits quite nicely inbetween the other marine animals in terms of size. 14. Pelagornis: "Tropeognathus but bird"; Pelagornis is a coastal giant with false teeth. Another bird large enough to square up with the mid-size Pterosaurs somewhat reasonably, and while it would be less hype than a huge eagle or vulture, I'd consider it worth adding. 15. Macrauchenia: A weird animal. The real life version doesn't have the trunk anymore, but honestly, with a giant nose it tends to look even weirder. We're missing a small herding animal, and this one nicely rounds out Doedicurus and Megatherium into the full trio. Also, completes one of the Walking with Beasts episode rosters, so that's funky. 16. Diprotodon/Zygomaturus: The talk of Macrauchenia being a small herding animal (a niche filled by. Maiasaura and Muttaburasaurus maybe? Until the first game finally added Dryosaurus) reminded me that we could use a mid-size herding animal. So, here is Diprotodon, winning out over Toxodon because it would have a funny nose. Zygomaturus is the alt pick because it has an even funnier nose. 17. Synthetoceras: We could use a tiny little antelope-like creature who is also obviously not an antelope. It would be pretty funky to have dozens of these flock alongside other animals, especially since their outlandish blatant prehistoric-ness means they kind of work next to animals from blatantly different time periods. 18. Arctotherium/Paraceratherium: Two radically different animals, depending on the games needs. Paracer blends in with Sauropods well, and fits the large exhibits. Arctotherium would, as a bear, fit in if the presumably attached campaign had themes of either wildlife conservationism, or the fact that extinct animals are/were once natural creatures. Was going to give them separate spots, but they feel almost mutually exclusive to me. I would prefer Arctotherium, so, think of Paraceratherium as a glorified honorary mention. 19. Sebecus: If you know Sebecus, you know why it's on this list. It's this low because I wanted to prioritize mammals, since this might be the only opportunity to add any, while Sebecus could feasibly sneak into some other packs and not look out of place while just happening to be a giant cenozoic land crocodile. 20. Megalodon: Because the children yearn for the shark. I would base Megalodon more on a basking shark than a great white, personally, with a tiger shark inspired pattern, probably, because I imagine that'd just work best. I do like the idea of using it to educate people about different sharks, and might give it zebra shark patterning instead solely for that purpose. Placed it last because while I recognize its fame I feel like it's beyond overrated, especially considering how little most media that uses it plays with its design.
I personally enjoy the idea of a cenozoic pack, but it comes with a concern. None of the fences, buildings or decorations even remotely fit with prehistoric mammals, we really need thematic buildings for this. Its gonna be really weird to house a mammoth in a heavily electrified steel fence
If Frontier listened we would have more triassic animals, more lagoon features, walking pterosaurs, pterosaur social animations etc etc etc. Frontier only listens to the part of teh community they can squeeze for money.
@@tri-clawgaming7682 oh yeah forgot how companies are, atleast they listened to some! well.. this is like.. the only thing we wanted that we got that i can remember..i mean we got the hybrids but it was a dlc pack...yeah whatever you're right you brit
Lol its not about being right. Im just sharing my views on this pack. I know loads of fans are mega happy to be getting it. I have a strong interest in the games industry as a whole, so when i make videos i tend to look at it from the perspective of good game industry practises more than 'new species yay'.
The game has too many species already. The game doesnt need more animals, it needs everything else. Thats JWE2s major flaw that it has consistantly not realised in the last year.
I think the issue with adding all these Cenozoic animals, is the fact that Frontier will have to craft up a campaign narrative to justify introducing them. Knowing Frontier's past, though, we'll get Diet Chris Pratt giving us a cheesy voiceover.
Hopefully it will be a full Cenozoic pack with Meg, Smilodon, and something like a mammoth and a terror bird. They have to bring in the kitty at some point, might as well be now. I agree that the game needs something besides species in a DLC. A DLC that does something like bring back all of the maps from the first game, all of the buildings, the Big Tree and other decorations, and other material from Evo 1 would be awesome. Another good idea would be an Attraction Pack with the Pteratops Lodge, Camp Cretaceous Treehouse, Hidden Adventure roller coaster, Hot-Air Balloon Ride, Cretaceous Cruise, the Underwater Viewing Gallery from JP: TG, shark tunnels, Herbivore Feeder Stations where guests can feed dinosaurs with both ground and high-level versions, and additions to the existing paths like elevated walkways and bridges for both footpaths and vehicle paths. More decorations like rock arches and spires of various sizes and shapes that can go on land and in the lagoons, kelp and larger decorations for the lagoon floor, placeable dust and mud wallows for dinosaurs to use, those would be great. Additions and adjustments to behaviors are also a major point. Give the pterosaurs walking and social animations for both flying and perched, and change Dimorphodon and Tapejara's dietary needs to meat and fruit respectively and a need for foliage that provides prey and fruit. Give aquatic animals environmental behaviors like spyhopping, breaching, swimming close to the Viewing Galleries and eyeing the people inside, scanning the lagoon floor, etc. Give dinosaurs behaviors like scratching themselves on rocks and placeable trees, climbing and jumping on rocks for the dromaeosaurids and similar small dinosaurs, seeking out muddy or sandy areas to roll and wallow in, theropods stalking prey before breaking into a run, and above all let the damn sauropods be able to defend themselves with tail swipes and neck swings for horizontal sauropods/kicks for vertical sauropods. The free update is the big question for me. The layoffs and restructuring happened at a really bad time for the Secret Species Pack, hopefully Frontier will have a big juicy update for this.
@@tri-clawgaming7682 Hopefully the lack of an update last time was the result of the layoffs and restructuring, otherwise two no-shows in a row would be looking grim.
I mean it probably is a cash grab but, with the megalodon it means one of 2 things a Prehistoric Shark pack or a Cenozoic Pack. And honestly both of those I would enjoy because it means more rigs for modders and if it is a Cenozoic pack then it would most likely mean a large update.
At this point... we can only hope the game gets more support. Cenozoic can be good, but it's not at all a move I would've made if I were Frontier. I'd have saved them for a Third Game, make them the big draw, and add quite a bit more animals in this regard. 4 Simply isn't enough to cover the broad spectrum of animals from the Cenozoic. I can name a good 20 more species that should also be added for a substantial roster, but that's another tangent for another day. Best Case, it is a Cenozoic Pack. At least there's new stuff there and the Meg is the weakest edition. Megalodon (Basilosaurus would've been better. Instead of a Fish, we get a Whale. But people want their Dunk Clone) Smilodon (CC made it canon, and since they want to drip feed CC Content, this is it.) Mammoth (How do you not add a Mammoth to a Cenozoic Pack?) And either a Giant Ground Sloth, A Woolly Rhino or Elasmotherium, or a Terror Bird. If they wanted to cheat a bit, Dodo. Argentavis would be here, but it would suffer for being an Aviary species (No Social Animations, Can't Walk) My Money's on the Terror Bird. (Kelenken, Phorusrhacos, or Titanis, probably the former two being the most likely. Kelenken for being the Largest, Phorusrhacos for being the most known/Iconic) I have heard of an idea of a Titans pack, let me explain why this is a terrible idea. It's the Clone DLC. Megalodon = Dunkleosteus Argentinosaurus = Dreadnoughtus/Alamosaurus Shantungosaurus = Edmontosaurus Hatzegopteryx = Quetzalcoatlus Mapusaurus = Giganotosaurus There are groups of animals more underrepresented that deserve inclusions more. Prosauropods have been desired for a long time, never came. Smaller Ornithopods like Leaellynasaura, Hypsilophodon, Nanosaurus, Heterodontosaurus, Lesothosaurus, etc, underrepresented. Primitive Ceratopsians like Protoceratops, Psittacosaurus, and yes... MICROCERATUS, ignored. But we gotta have Generic Carnivore #969 because somebody doesn't like the model of a dinosaur that's extremely similar to it in every way. It's ironic that some people who say "We don't need more species" are also the ones that go "We want Irritator because Baryonyx Sucks Balls" or "Hatzegopteryx because we love how Quetzal can't walk and look crammed in the Aviaries" Like, I get it, we want more content, and Species are the most exciting. But why ask for clones when you can flesh out the roster, because in the long run, most animals will end up being replaced and you're throwing money away on something that has less work put into it. I get wanting film animals, that's a standard for a Film Licensed Game, but Frontier decides to hold them hostage. The only animal we truly NEED is the Microceratus because it was in the film, yet they avoided adding it for 2 years now. And if this is the last DLC, THEY NEVER ADDED IT. Frontier fumbled HARD with JWE2's Post Launch. DLCs were lackluster adding animals we really didn't need, neglecting film content, gave some attractions but not a lot, and basically making loyal consumers feel like they're in an abusive relationship, it's like they say "I can change" and that time of the quarter comes and they show you they didn't change. So you want to leave, but you love what you had and are afraid to be without it, so you stay hoping they don't disappoint you again and again, but knowing deep down, they will.
Agree with so much of this. I feel like JWE2 has been a dismal failure in terms of what it could of achieved on launch. Ever since then its been one set back after another. And now we have had a year of species DLCs with barley anything more substantial.
I'm included in #3. #4 is the biggest truth of all, so my reaction was also just "ok", even though I love Mega. There will be another incredible species in the game's boring lagoons. I want attractions, new decorations, new mechanisms like sauropods fighting and defending themselves, pterosaurs interacting with land animals (not just that animation with the raptor and indorapror) and walking, new possibilities for the lagoons and much more. I don't think it's going to be a "Cenozoic Species Pack", I think the theme is way outside Frontier's comfort zone (but I would be VERY happy and surprised if that were the case), I think it's going to be something like "Giant Species Pack" With Argentinosaurus, some theropod, perhaps Eotrike, and Hatz.
Indeed. And what baffles me is that all these hyper meg folks are gunna make it once...go...ooooh...and then wont use it again because fundamentally most players dont ever use the lagoons
There's possibly going to be a new Hatcherys with the Cenozoic Species in the new pack. Or we could just get a favorite species pack where all the fan favorite species like plateosaurus Megalodon and other favorites with the most votes and most suggestions are added in this pack.
@@tri-clawgaming7682 that's probably true so there's a good chance that this is probably even not the last pack at all. I'm still waiting for the rides that we saw in Camp Cretaceous hidden Adventure coming to the game as new Attractions. I'm hoping the next update will address that issue but I'm not having high hopes for that. We need a Wetland Maps Square and Regular (Louisiana Swamps). Also I'm thinking that there won't be a Jurassic world Evolution 3 until the next gen set of consoles will come out so we might be with Jurassic world Evolution 2 for quite a long time until the next set of consoles releases.
Im not personally convinced we will get a JWE3, simply because the company seems to be focusing more on their original titles more than the branded stuff, we will have to wait and see.
@@tri-clawgaming7682 we'll just have to wait and see I agree because with the new Jurassic world 4 or whatever it will be called the next Jurassic Park film going into production soon, so we'll just have to see and I even told everybody let's just be honest Jurassic world Evolution 3 might not happen or it might not happen with this current Gen of consoles.
My biggest problem about Cenozoic animals in jwe2 is that it starts to drift away from normal dinosaurs. A Megalodon just doesn’t sit right with me. And I agree the game does not need dinosaurs it needs attractions, decorations, KELP, stability fixes and the list goes on.
This JWE2 ice cream has too much sprinkles for my liking. I want something to that looks good as well as taste good. What we have is something that looks good but tastes too sweet.
There is still a risk it wont. After all we have gotten other non-mesozoic period animals in packs with meso period animals before, so they could still just have meg with non-cenozoic life. But i do agree its a stronger possibility now.
Well funnily enough i've made a number of videos on this over the last 2 years. Perhaps its time to do a new video on it. However if you want the most up to date details so far, then i suggest you check out my CEO video, where i do discuss improvements to the lagoons (it isa long video but i tackle various lagoon parts throughout but if you head to 25:52 on the video thats the biggest area where i speak about it) : ua-cam.com/video/EDXtXEwtu0E/v-deo.html
@@tri-clawgaming7682 Just came back from watching that, I think the best things for the lagoon is a touring sun and a viewing tube, but also different water types. There’s so much that they could do to make it better, hopefully one day they make it better
You already know I'm a bit "meh" about it, even though I think meg is awesome, but here it is for the good of the algorithm! Lagoons suck, unless they update them or bring something to help them out.
Honestly & I’ve said this in swerve’s comments. I’m not overly excited for Meg, like u said it’s just an oversized great white but I can understand why most people like it & want it in evolution 2. I personally wished we gotten like an expansion of some sort. let’s hope a free update gives us something that’s actually good
I don't think Frontier will do a basic depiction of the Megalodon, because of another species which is very similar: dunkleosteus. They could've depicted the newer research dunk, with it's smaller body, but they went for their own take on it. Hopefully, the same happens here for the megalodon. (also wierd note, I think biolumonescence would be cool, since it would be the one-and-only large marine species to have biolumonescence.)
See i dont think Frontier really care about species that look too similar to each other. Theres quite a lot of it already in game. As for the lux glowing im not sure. I think the Lagoon has enough lux animals
@@tri-clawgaming7682 We're saying the same thing: It'll probably look similar to Dunkleosteus. We have 2 species in the lagoons with lux skins, both being smaller creatures. A larger marine reptile with bioluminescence would allow for all sizes of marine animals to have lux skins.
Ngl i'm disappointed, i know only 1 of the 4 species was revealed, im just not that excited anymore, since the probality of a Cenozoic Pack is big cause of also of smilodon, i hope it turns out to be another pack like a Fan Fav Pack with Plateosaurus, Hatzegopteryx or Rhamphorhynchus and Microceratus or a Coastal Pack with Ichthyovenator, Hatzegopteryx or Rhamphorhynchus and Dakosaurus. Anyways this is for the pack, what i want to see it's the free update, i do hope since meg is coming, i hope we get lagoon improvements, kelp, rock formations, corals, a new attraction for example the tunnels and other stuff, i just hope the free update is good.
I agree about the free update stuff, because if there is no free update, with nothing new to build with, and if the lagoons remain the same as they are now, having megalodon or not doesnt matter. Many of those i speak to on streams have said that they rarely use the lagoons because they are simply not able to design and decorate them effectivly.

I doubt frontier would put that much effort into it
Hopefully it will be a full Cenozoic pack with Meg, Smilodon, and something like a mammoth and a terror bird.
If it doesnt come with a free update that adds anything more than bug fixes, i think this DLC is gunna go into the 'bad' pile for me.
@@tri-clawgaming7682 Hopefully the lack of an update last time was the result of the layoffs and restructuring, otherwise two no-shows in a row would be looking grim.
I just want more buildings and attractions. Things started to feel more like a zoo than a park a long time ago for me.
Same here
I mean it probably is a cash grab but, with the megalodon it means one of 2 things a Prehistoric Shark pack or a Cenozoic Pack. And honestly both of those I would enjoy because it means more rigs for modders and if it is a Cenozoic pack then it would most likely mean a large update.
Well we will wait and see but if theres no free update with new decs or something more for the lagoon, one big shark does a good dlc not make
4:39 Fifth, actually.
Is it really? Bloody hell...
@@tri-clawgaming7682 Feathered, Prehistoric Marine Species, Cretaceous Predators, and Secret Species, making this 5.
But people want their Dunk Clone)
Smilodon (CC made it canon, and since they want to drip feed CC Content, this is it.)
Mammoth (How do you not add a Mammoth to a Cenozoic Pack?)
And either a Giant Ground Sloth, A Woolly Rhino or Elasmotherium, or a Terror Bird. If they wanted to cheat a bit, Dodo. Argentavis would be here, but it would suffer for being an Aviary species (No Social Animations, Can't Walk)
My Money's on the Terror Bird. (Kelenken, Phorusrhacos, or Titanis, probably the former two being the most likely. Kelenken for being the Largest, Phorusrhacos for being the most known/Iconic)
I have heard of an idea of a Titans pack, let me explain why this is a terrible idea. It's the Clone DLC.
Megalodon = Dunkleosteus
Argentinosaurus = Dreadnoughtus/Alamosaurus
Shantungosaurus = Edmontosaurus
Hatzegopteryx = Quetzalcoatlus
Mapusaurus = Giganotosaurus
There are groups of animals more underrepresented that deserve inclusions more.
It's ironic that some people who say "We don't need more species" are also the ones that go "We want Irritator because Baryonyx Sucks Balls" or "Hatzegopteryx because we love how Quetzal can't walk and look crammed in the Aviaries"
Like, I get it, we want more content, and Species are the most exciting.
So i doubt that they would add new hatcheries. Any new buildings would be indicitive of a expansion, and this isnt one.
*nods* i know what you mean. Adding prehistoric mammels or terror birds starts to make the game more of a cheap copy of prehistoric kingdom
This JWE2 ice cream has too much sprinkles for my liking. I want something to that looks good as well as taste good. What we have is something that looks good but tastes too sweet.
An interesting metaphor there. I think the similar 'not enought meat but plenty of potatoes' works as well
It looks like the Cenozoic Pack is gonna happened guys, woah I am so hyped.
There is still a risk it wont. After all we have gotten other non-mesozoic period animals in packs with meso period animals before, so they could still just have meg with non-cenozoic life. But i do agree its a stronger possibility now.
I agree that the lagoon system is limited, but what would you add to make it better?
Exactly ^^
Honestly & I’ve said this in swerve’s comments. I’m not overly excited for Meg, like u said it’s just an oversized great white but I can understand why most people like it & want it in evolution 2. I personally wished we gotten like an expansion of some sort. let’s hope a free update gives us something that’s actually good
Lets hope there IS a free update to the DLC. Lets hope its not another hybrid situation
Exactly! That was just disappointing
Im hopeful its a Cenozoic pack and not the last pack ever. Dont see why it needs to be
Well because JWE2 is kinda nearing the end of its life?
Of course it is.
