@@arthurmurfitt7698 I love playing along with the vocal melodies and soloing over them near the end of the song, generally after the solo in the final chorus. don't wanna piss off a vocalist!
Saw Steeler around this time at a small club on Ventura blvd and there was a cassette next to the mixing board that I thought was Steeler they had just went on and my friends told me to grab it..I did and when we got to the car and played it was blank nothing on it lol we all were pissed but laughed all the home great night of rock n roll....
Saw them in 83' in Southern Cal not sure what town but close to Irvine. It was a small venue with about 500-600 in attendance.Riot with their then new vocalist Rhett Forrester(RIP) opened up and then Steeler. Ratt who had just released their debut EP headlined. Steeler was the best with Malmsteen shreeding away. I thought "who are these guys" Riot was great too with Born in America.

i think by the time yngwie joined Alcatraz he's got more experience in writing music and playing live ..of course with more experience he finally formed his own group. And the rest is history ..
You definitely can tell that it's Yngwie playing here. I just wish someone had some common sense to Video Tape this whole concert. I guess nobody thought how Huge Yngwie would become. Awesome recording for any Fan.
People knew. Mike Varney wrote about him in Guitar Player magazine before he left Sweden. I bought the Steeler album as soon as it came out based on Varney's column. Ron Keel's voice ruined it, along with his corny lyrics, which was disappointing. Yngwie stood out in every song, especially the intro to "Hot on Your Heels." Malmsteen was simply too good for Steeler, at least with Ron Keel at the helm.
@SulimaKnight I have no idea where I found this, it was definitely in some dark corner of the internet. The whole live set, but I'm guessing they didn't start the tape rolling until a few seconds into On The Rox Also got the original bootlegs which appear on Metal Generation (the anthology), bad quality but it's a start-to-finish recording
My favourite is when they all say, "I wish that he would just play like David Gilmore, and hit one note!" And it's the same person in every comment section!
@ricaard So true. All those people that talk shit about Yngwie all wish they could play like him. A good example was reading an article of an interview with Jake E Lee back when I was in H.S, and he mentioned his frustration on his inability to play like Yngwie, and he's the main one always talking shit about Yngwie lol
@ricaard You're not alone. I dare (I say..) say that Jake had much more depth and style than RR, who was great, but much like Bruce Lee, a bit overrated imo. Jake had a way of blending the perfect balance of rhythm, riffs, while intertwining lead voices.. I am 100% sure I'm gonna re. I've lots of backlash for this comment, but that's the real problem with this world now.. People are too afraid to voice their opinions while many get easily triggered and offended. But yeah, Jake was alright! 👍
@vanhalen515084 not the truth. i can see why he'd play it down (as he was the one who went on to become world famous) but the truth is that he was in the band for about four months playing clubs
Holy Shit! How did you get this (and whatever else you may have on us?) This would be a first since 1983, and all Steeler fans should know about this... -Rik Fox-
lol, thts true, but not with a tone of disapproval, doing tht when u suck is just bad, but if u can play like yngwie... The rest is the rest, yngwie's the show.
this is great, Yngwie realy should have stayed with this, I feel he would have made better songs. What I mean is I here a hit in this so they would of made more. In his Malmsteen band I just dont hear good rock hits. and I had all of them in my I pod and they are all gone for better stuff. and it's a 120gigues so....
I read somewhere that Yngwie was impossible to work with, not a team player, but wanting to be the star in every song. Thats why he’s gone through singers the way Biden goes through teleprompters.
Steeler albums = yada yada yada - Yngwie solo! - yada yada yada - Yngwie solo! end... They were like two competing bands. The regular band would be playing then Yngwie jumps in front of them and says "look at me" and goes nuts on the guitar totally blocking everyone else out. Like two kids clamoring for their father's approval.
So??? Yngwie got famous the next year after this the only reason we know of this band and alcatrazz is because of yngwie And who are you? What have you done with your life other than get on internet and talk shit
ya, this was the only time in Yngwie's whole career that he's actually playing well written great songs! and of course he didnt have anything to do with writing this album, THANK GOD-HE WOULD'VE RUINED IT!
That's why every metal song that isn't thrash sounds like a cheap knock-off of any song from Rising Force going on 37 years. And thrash is just hacks who could never shred.
Yeah Yngwie kicks ass, on this and all his early stuff.. anyone who says he sucks doesn't know a thing about guitar playing.. end of
I was at this show. Yngwie blew my head off.
With a shotgun?
No, with his cock obviously @@kingwinter2024

@@kingwinter2024 They don't call a guitar an axe for nothing LOL.
I saw them twice in '83. They were openers for Triumph & Y&T I think. At 20 Yngwie really tore it up.
really good, pretty impressive for 20yr old yngwie ! rest of band much better than I expected too :)
I love how yngwie has perfected soloing OVER the lead vocal .That is so cool!
I enjoy, listening to the lead vocals and the solo at the same time
LOL Graham Bonnett LOVED it too...

Love ron keel , u can tell hes still in the process of mastering his vocals
just bought their debut (only?) LP on vinyl yesterday...
Curtis Linder I also have the only(?) LP. Bought them back in 1985 in Glendale!!! I live in Seoul now. Probably the only guy with it in Korea.
I used to have it, too (until I was forced to sell off my whole music collection for financial reasons in early 2016 -- so it goes!)
Yngwie sort of arrives with his chops ready and was barely 19!
Damn this rocks
I love this song 🤘❤️🎸🎶
this is steeler the greatest ever
I know kurt james who replaced yngwie, but yngwie and steeler were better than anything he has done ever since

Love your kinda simple, but very effective playing on this.
Puppet show AND Steeler.
Sounds like Dokken with Yngwie playing in the band.
Ratt- You're In trouble softer version with Yngwie soloing and a cowboy singing
RON KEEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yngwie added the intro - you can hear his classical chord influence.
@Friday13thTaurus agreed, being the world's fastest guitarist at 18 years old did not make him more mature
@2TUFSS What i would like to know is there any video footage of steeler while yngwie was a member..?
This rob keel singing??
yes
No. It's Ron Keel.
@rufus566 Seemed like that on Yngwie's later albums as opposed to this one really

Yngwie Malmsteen ❤
There's like 3 ways out alive.
3:30 Little out of tune. Sound isn't great here. Still tremendous playing.
Typical Yngwie, could never keep a Strat in tune
Yngwie is the king of ridiculous ascending scales followed by a long vibrato on the tonic
At your local bar appearing soon
thank gosh yjm left this mess and went to make awesome songs and music, where the band was on his level.
Ron Keel is the 🌟....Yngwie blah blah who cares? I am here for the star of the band..... Keel!
Ron who?
Ron Keel sounds better here than on the first Keel records.
The great Ronnie James Dio affeçtionaly called him Wingnut.

Ron must be the playing the other guitar?
