Whoever mixes and masters the vocals on this channel is lowkey the real MVP. Live performance, album quality audio. Amazing yet again
I showed these videos to a friend who is trying to learn how to record music as examples of how to properly use a microphone for recording vocals. He spent hours disputing me and telling me that these weren't live takes. He was convinced that the vocals had to be done in a studio at a different time, and that the artists just came in and lip synced for the video. He now understands that's most likely not the case, but just another example of how good the engineers on this team are.
naw bruh, some are live, some are pre-recorded. This one is defnitly pre-recorded, his mouth is late on a couple occasions. Plus he uses a bunch of different filters. A real artist knows how important it is to always face the mic, the distance between your mouth and the mic etc. 6lack moving a lot, sometimes he ain't even in front of the mic. Sound would be affected a lot. Especially since those arent recording studio walls.
This is lip synced sadly unlike most others
Nahh you can hear him breathing in between lines, it's recorded live and then mixed and mastered later. Obviously there are effects added in post production, but i am pretty sure 6lack recorded this live in 1 take
I agree that this was live. You can level out the parts where he turned away with some careful gain editing and compression.
The tone can be slightly different when he turns away due to proximity effect but hes pretty far away from the mic in the first place so its probably not much of a factor to begin with. Maybe I'm just being naive and hoping these are live but i can justify this being a one take live performance (with a lot of post production editing) and not lip synced. Only the people behind the camera/mixing desk really know though I guess.

David Rodríguez trust me, you can make anyone sound good. Proper mixing getting rid of low end frequencies and high ones plus some autotune and reverb with delay and then you sound like an angel

No matter how much mixing mastering an studio wizardry u do you can’t make someone constantly shifting to an away from a microphone sound ok. That an at the start he’s barely facing the mic, his lips don’t always sync up an there’s no way he could hit those notes with the amount of effort he’s putting in. It’s a cool version of the song they recorded but it’s not a live video
