They bring a certain amount of mystery to a canoe trip. On every canoe trip I research ahead (as much as possible) and try and choose a route that maximises pictograph viewing. A bit of a bummer we got turned around as there is a pictograph on McAlpine lake that I haven't seen yet. There will be another trip!
We travelled the same shoreline back in 2012 and somehow I missed the bunnyman! Guess I will just have to go back sometime then! Thanks for pointing that one out - wow. I just can't believe we missed that one!
Thanks, The first time I was there I missed the bunny man too. And, I think this was the first time I noticed the big round disk with hand prints. I tried to count how many times I have been there and I think this was my 6th time. There is always something new to see.
No problem, I mix the following ingredients at home in a food processor to integrate all the lard. You can mix by hand if you want it just takes longer. Then I measure either 1 cup or 2 cup amounts (depending on the size of loaf I want to make) and put into plastic bags. 4 cups all purpose flour (I make a whole wheat version with 2 cups of whole wheat flour and 2 cups of all purpose)3 Tbsp baking powder (the fresher the better)1/4 cup lard1/4 tsp salt That's it. In camp I mix in water by eye and feel till I get a sticky dough. Then I kneed it for 8-10 min. before baking (depending on the stove and method about 25 min. I am working on a video about this that I filmed on this trip. I will include this in the comments section of that video. Take care and thanks for watching!
Kevin Outdoors Very kind Kevin, thank you. An unusual recipe from others I’ve seen due to the inclusion of the lard, probably what makes it look so good :). I’ll give it a go.
I got this from a UA-camr buddy of mine, Wintertrekker. He introduced me to the lard concept. He uses 2Tsp of baking powder, 1/2 cup of lard and a little sugar - I think it is 1 Tbs.
Amazing. I am always just speechless when I encounter these.
They fascinate me.
Nice trip, sometimes plans have to change. Interesting pictographs.
Thanks, yes this is a great spot for pictographs.
Love to see pictographs. We were on a fishing trip to Little Missinaibi Lake this July and saw a bunch. Great video.

good video I enjoyed todays trip
Thanks Craig! That area with all the pictographs is one of my favourite spots to visit in the park.
Hi Kevin. Liked and subbed. Been really enjoying your videos. Greetings from Chicago and ATB Mike
Awesome, thank you!
Your bannock looks very good, you hot that bog ball of dough nicely cooked on the inside and.not burnt on the outside. Did you use a reflector oven?
Hey Mama, thanks yes we did it in a reflector oven.
Nice! Care to share your bannock recipe?
No problem,

I sub him too, but haven’t seen him make bannock.
Midnight here again, night!
Thanks Andy.
