My favourite guitarist of all time. His playing moves me in a way no other guitar player ever has. One minute he's making me cry as he plays something breathtakingly beautiful, the next minute I've got stank face on as he plays something absolutely low down and dirty. What a guy.
Please advise me of his best album. I am just starting to listen to him after hearing his amazing but very short contribution to Mark Knopflers Guitar Hero’s piece ‘Going Home’.
@charlescarter2072 you've got a lot to look forward to! Derek fronted his own band (The Derek Trucks Band) for many years, and they released 5 or 6 albums. Derek is currently part of the 'Tedeschi Trucks Band', which he fronts with his wife Susan. I would just start at the beginning and listen to The Derek Trucks Band and the Tedeschi Trucks Band in full, you don't want to miss anything!
i've been playing guitar for 15 years now, i heard his music 4 years ago, i started playing bottleneck, and learn all his stuff i will never stop, his music and playing change my life and the way i play guitar god bless his music this is soulfull
His playing moves me to tears, it’s so emotional and reminds me of the early days of the Allman Brothers, music I grew up with. And Derek is such a sweet and humble soul too.
Whoa Levi you have outdone yourself this time. I cannot thank you enough. May I just say I just added a Derek Trucks signature slide to my collection and it is by far the best glass slide I now own. Don’t be fooled by other people telling you that it is the same as the blues bottle by Dunlop. It is different in size and also I think the quality of the glass is better. I hope that helps somebody that is on the fence about whether to buy one, and again Levi thank you so much for all the hard work that you put in to these videos.
You could sit down and learn the playing from any given show; BUT the next night, you'd hear a different solo. Then you learn that one, and the next night you are back to the drawing! Derek is a pure JAZZ Musician, in the sense you play what you are feeling that night. You take all the chances and don't think about mistakes. The man is a genius. Duane Allman was the same way, as was Stevie Ray Vaughan!! And yes there are others, but there are very few!
This is awesome! I used the earlier versions to help learn several of these songs. I also previously purchased two of Levi’s slide books … great stuff!
thank you for your video & tab. I'm learning slide guitar playing like Derek by myself with watching his playing on his live video. I listen to your V and try imaging how Derek slide on a fretboard and watch your V and practice. thank you this is so good video
Awesome Levi, Derek Trucks is probably the only musician to give me goosebumps and bring a tear to my eye at the same time! Susan is something special too, not only vocally but her playing as well. Hey anyone out there, is it true Derek used to use Pyle speakers in his Super Reverbs in his earlier days?
Nice compilations! Curious about book offerings. Should I get the more comprehensive Guided Guitar Scale Practice Routines: Master Every Essential Guitar Scale in this Comprehensive 10-Week Course OR the new Guided Guitar Scale Practice Routines: Master Every Essential. Does the former contain everything and more? Thanks.
@@LeviClay Sorry Levi. No. My bad. I meant that book vs. your comprehensive 3 book series. Guided Practice Routines for Guitar - The Complete Three-Book Collection: Master 380 Exercises in Three Transformational 10-Week Guided Guitar Courses Paperback - December 5, 2023
@@MOAB-UT ah, I got you! So the three book collection is a collection of the foundation, intermediate, and advanced practice routine books. Those books are broader in approach. The new series, scales, chords, and arpeggios (which I'm writing at the moment) are much more laser focused on the subject. They're more granular. They'll be released as a three book collection too when I've finished this one and released it!
@@LeviClay Thanks Levi. Since the Scale and Chord books are out, I assume, you are finishing up the Arpeggio book? When do you think the new, and sounds like improved three (3) book series will become available (in paperback?) If I did not want to wait, for someone with a decent background and some theory under his belt, would you recommend the 3-book series or the GUIDED SCALE PRACTICE ROUTINES? Or should I just wait for your new masterpiece? 😉
@@MOAB-UT I wouldn't consider the new book improved in any way. It's just a different approach. My teaching is always consistently detailed!!! I'm yet to have a student who breezed through all of that three book series. It will make you sweat because it made me sweat! But the same will apply to the new books too
Sir,, can you do a transcription of the solo of a song called Collision from the band C187,,, I would be awsome sir.. It's a metal band with awsome musicians

@@RagggedTrouseredPhilanthropist thank you friend! I’m getting on to it now!
Absolutely ridiculous.
I've never heard anyone use a slide anywhere close to that precisely or soulfully.
