At 44 years old, I never cared about my keyboard or speed. I was jealous of my wife 80Wpm and decided to take a test..., 10 wpm and I was watching my keyboard. I took the free classes online and started touch typing and after 2 months I was at 25 Wpm(98% acc). Then I purchased a Moonlander thanks to your video. In less than 1 month, training 1-2 hours/day , I reached 50wpm(98% accuracy) various times. This is a game changer, and probably it should be a standard as It made my shoulder pain completely away. A must have and thanks again for your amazing review.
That's a great video. Just some FYIs for anyone watching this video, you can get the Moonlander with blank keycaps (same goes for the ErgoDox EZ and likely the other 2 from ZSA). You can choose a longer warranty (so you're not stuck to a 1 year warranty).
I travel with mine. It gets checked in, so I use the case often. I swapped my liner red with Kailh silent browns. Love them. Also, the long keyboard cable works well when operating on a couch. Agree, the cables are a bit naff
I really loved this review. Normally the people that review the Moonlander (that I've seen) are professional keyboard people. Not normal people. I'm a professional programmer, so I type all day, but would rather hear a review from someone who works hard with their hands than someone who has 6 bajillion keyboards. So thank you for the review. You're the reason I'm buying it. As for your complaints or hopes for improvements. I feel that they were all valid. I personally don't care about the RGB effects, but I can see why you'd want the ability to set them up to be more intuitive especially since you're the end user so you suffer with it more than the engineers at ZSA. I also loved how you learned about the spring for the red thumb button during the video! It made me laugh and I think I'll try the same thing on removing the metal bar and see how it feels. Great review man

I think the metal piece under your red key is called a stabilizer and if you lube it, that will deal with the sound without having to remove it entirely.
FYI you can change the color of the (single-color) rgb animations with the "hue +" and "hue -" keys. You can also configure a key to set the hue to a specific color.
That is a nice keyboard. I’ll never give up my X-Bows though, it is very very ergonomic and at the price of good mechanical keyboards, not a price to the moon. But this seems very good too and maybe even more versatile. May I add that ortho is mandatory but it is nothing without a dvorak disposition.

I’m really interested in the Moonlander and the typing lessons they offer. What do you guys think? Btw, your hands are fine, but I guess you catch some heat for their appearance? I do have a question. Do they only replace defects until the one year warranty expires? If the same issue happens again like your situation, do they still replace? Thanks again!
Split keyboard is a game changer but im not going with ZSA again. Been using their moonlander for a year and now the plastic on the thumb module has broken. Not a problem I thought as they say they support the right to repair and will sell parts outside of warranty. The past week I have been going in circles with support around this for them to finally tell me they won't support the product past the initial purchase.
I used my traveling case every day for a year, it was very useful. It’s a good thing to have, even if you are say, moving to a new home or something like that. Keeps the keyboard safe. I am a year and a half in, and my kids have never cracked.

Let me start off by saying that you can now choose the blank key caps option for their ergo boards. Furthermore, you could have kinda lubed those stabilizers instead of removing them, but it doesn't really seem like a super useful key anyway, so you do you. They used the most ancient and universally hated stabilizer type, which is admittedly quite disappointing to see at this price point and age. In practice, you would almost never see these on a custom-built keyboard anymore because they are an absolute nightmare to deal with, and until today I thought they'd gone extinct a decade ago, right after I got my first and only mechanical keyboard that had these, which made cleaning and swapping keycaps super annoying.
Moonlander customer service is absolutely incredible. And props to the Dygma lady constantly putting out content on UA-cam. I'm two months into the Moonlander, and I only just made a change that made a huge difference: hovering your hands. I was getting super sore resting on the wrist rests and that position constantly had me readjusting my hands and re"centering" the keyboard. I started getting worried that it wasn't for me. After forcing myself to hover... this is 100000% the keyboard for me. Took a few days to get used to but alleviated a ton of discomfort.
@@PolarBearVolcano I'm completely hovering at this point. The only parts of my hands/arms that's touching anything are my fingertips on the keys. My hand, wrist, and arm are suspended in the air.

Not sure if it’s too late, but I’ve heard from multiple people that it’s pretty good. The moon lander website even says they put the usb plug in the left side so you can detach the right to have more mouse space for gaming, and the left turns into a gamepad basically

Hey i know this video is over a year old but thank you i will probably have to take the plunge into my first split keyboard ever. I was super concerned due to it not having my layout but given you can program every damm key and have multiple profiles it helped me get over that part. BTW when gaming could you unplug the right side still be gaming?`

I changed them with Durock Dolphins and woow i finaly can use keyb during the nights. Very silent and a bit tactile. On monday ill get also some custom keycaps called MT3, hopefully there will be a nice addition.
I just invested quite a bit in some nice keyboard(s). It's nice to switch it up a bit for typing comfort I found. This was mostly in anticipation of the considerable hours I'll be spending on my degree and a couple of computer-heavy subjects the next year. However, now my wrists are starting to hurt quite a bit from the excessive keyboard usage, and I wish I spent the money on this in the first place! It just makes so much sense, but it's far to expensive for my student budget right now.
You might wanna go easy on the keyboard and your hands. They don't deserve so much torture. Just take it easy, soft and gentle. With everything & everyone around you. Since you are already pretty good and up there with choices like this keyboard.
Thought of getting this keyboard but the price is a big factor. Also, I only recently bought my current keyboard and I like it enough that I don't want to replace it just yet.
How long took it for you to adapt to the columnar key arrangement? Can you switch between this and normal row-staggered arrangement without any issues?
It took me about a week with at least one hour of touch typing. I had bad habits so I needed to fix them. For example, I would use my right pointing finger for the 'B' key when I should've use my left one. I don't do it anymore obviously.

Ive used a egro keyboard since I saw the first one made by MS , the big white one. Have a MS ergo now but the buttons are crappy membrane type. Also the keys are not linear such as this one. Very expensive though and frankly is looks fragile and cheap.

At 3:05, how did you set the Function keys under the number keys?

i only use them to activate another layer with one shot functions, is not intuitive to press them
