Synopsis:
Alaska Rose has had a difficult few years since her mom left the family four years prior; acting out, rebelling against her single dad, Conner, getting into trouble in school and worse. But when she turns eighteen, Alaska finds herself in front of a judge in adult court for some of the same out-of-control behavior. In lieu of a jail sentence, Alaska is ordered to do community service in an assisted living facility where she is assigned to Mrs. Foster, an elderly resident who is unapproachable at best and hostile at her worst. Will Mrs. Foster be Alaska's undoing or will she simply be another obstacle on the road to the headstrong girl's freedom? As Alaska tries to minimally fulfill her court obligation and dodge actual jail time, she deals with peer pressure, static from her family, outside influences and demons from her past. Can she navigate the tumult and re-discover a relationship with God and her family or will she remain caught in the cycle of bad choices and lose what little of either is left?

This was one of the most beautiful, encouraging and amazing movies I've watched in a long time. The struggle is truly real and this movie opened us up to love and hope, that life without faith in Jesus Christ is no life at all. Truly Gods grace is sufficient for us. I highly recommend this movie🥰🙏❤💯

Not overtly LDS, this film, as good as it is in many ways, reflects LDS (Mormon) beliefs and practices. For the discerning Christian, it will become apparent as the film unfolds. Just know this before going in, so you're not disappointed when the "light goes on". Otherwise, the film is very well done with a good message that anyone with a heart can be inspired by.

This is a really good TV movie. To get the bad things out of the way first, it was obviously done on low budget so unfortunately, it is a little rough around the edges in some places. Namely, some supporting characters weren’t as interesting or even necessary and audio quality is rather poor, making some of the dialogue less intelligible. But onto the good then! I like the story. It might seem like a typical storyline for a TV drama and in a way, it is, but it’s told from a perspective of a teenage girl, with well-written dialogue and interplay between the characters. So, I like the story, but I absolutely love the lead cast! Ultimately, it was up to them to elevate the movie to the standard that it's on and this is, in no small part, due to the excellent and at moment, a knockout performace by the young but incredibly talented Paris Warner. I also think Jasen Wade did really well. It’s uncommon for a TV movie, really uncommon, but they did it anyway. I really appreciate it when actors give their best, paying no attention to the movie budget or how much they’re getting paid, all for the love of acting and filmmaking. In that respect, the whole of cast and crew ought to be congratulated. Well done, well done indeed!

I can recognize a traumatic issue in the play, I don't need screaming music to point it out, & even to the point that the music wipes out the words of the actors. Softly goes the music please!!
This was a beautifully done, very well acted movie that does what these movies should do - point people to come to faith in Jesus Christ. However, the scene where the father was talking to the Bishop was not correct according to the Bible. The father was wondering if his wife was in heaven or if she was instead "lost" because she had taken her own life. The bishop's answer was that God was a loving God and would be there for his children (paraphrased). However, this misses a very important Biblical principle. The Bible makes it VERY clear that during the church age (from the time of Pentecost in the book of Acts until the rapture of believers), once you come to faith in Jesus, you are saved and sealed until the day of redemption (the rapture) or you pass, whichever comes first. No one and NOTHING can take you out of the Father's hands or change your eternal destination from heaven to hell after you accept Jesus as your Savior!

Was interesting up until the fairy tale god nonsense started happening, then it got sickly enough for me to not finish it. Why can't these movies have a warning for intelligent people at the beginning that it will be a fantasy like The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings? This looked like it was going to be a good message movie when it started. It annoys me that I wasted 30 mins or so to find out it just a cultist fantasy :(
