Mills College X Sound Festival 2019

Each year, graduating seniors in the internationally renowned Mills College undergraduate music program present X Sound, an annual one-day music festival showcasing new works by Mills senior composers and media artists.
The X Sound festival, which takes place on the lush campus of Mills College, located in Oakland, California, is open to the public.
For more than 80 years, Mills College has maintained an international reputation as a site for innovation and experimentalism in music. In its past and present, Mills counts among its students and faculty key innovators in areas as diverse as electronic, electro-acoustic and computer music, installation-based sound art, improvised music, multimedia performance, instrument building, idiomatic instrumental composition and more. Notable graduates and faculty include Maryanne Amacher, Laurie Anderson, Robert Ashley, Luciano Berio, Anthony Braxton, Dave Brubeck, Lou Harrison, Annea Lockwood, Darius Milhaud, Pauline Oliveros, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Morton Subotnick, David Tudor, and Iannis Xenakis.
