When I first heard this song, I actually cried because I realised how much they used her as a product, now she's gone they couldn't amend how they treated her and they realised how much they took her for granted. I never cried before I heard this song, I just thought wow, Marilyn was gorgeous and talented, I just want to be like her, I never knew her background story and how much she was suffering in the Hollywood world until I heard this song.
May you ever Rest In Peace, Norma Jean! One of the greatest all time, been taken away the chance to live a long and happy life, by a world that refused to take you serious until the moment you died!
When I was a kid I watched Marylin on tv, then in 1970 me and a mortuary cleaning man went to this cemetary near Brentwood, LA to clean the terrazzo tile in the embalming room. He said, you wanna see something?" I said Sure. He took me out into the cemetary and we walked up to a set of tombs and he pointed to one; it said Marylin Monroe. Since then I thought it was too bad she wasn't buried under her original name. Small world.
Whitney Houston, Robin Williams and/or anyone who 'can't say no' or is living with an overpowering addiction (even under the controlling influence of a bossy/controlling/abusive parent) are just like NJ. Poor self-image, no identity-idea of who they are or why they are on the planet, they too are "like a candle in the wind". The song is for sure written because of and for NJ, but unfortunately, this is a far too common theme for many ppl. Parents, bless your children. Tell them they are supposed to be here. God has a plan & a purpose for their lives... Dont self-destruct without seeking that out! Learn to say no. Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.... 🙏
i love most if not all his versions of this song- love his Princess D version- catches many tears and memories- an artist of the highest caliber to our world of love and good
Me too. She thought everyone loved her just for her looks. I would of loved to be her friend and hear all her fears and thoughts etc. I would have stayed with her that whole night when she was alone and the housekeeper saw her light still on at 3:00 amish
In my opinion this version is much better than the Princess Di remake. Although it wasnt a bad rewrite for only having a few days. To me though he was speaking to the real person in the first one. in dianes version he was speaking to the myth she had already become.
I get to know this song because of the death of P Diana a sad event. And though is a good rewrite he could write a new one for Diana. Still God knows best and loves both his childs Norma Jean and Diana, we make diferences, he doesn't
Heather Jean.. that's what you were when I found you and I said it wasn't what it was about... That was to say that you were more to me than just what I wanted to do...
I danced to this in a performance but I said I could never do justice to this song so I did a report and I pretended to be Marlylin and played this song while I did
All about Marilyn.. So Beautiful.. Sad how she died.. Few days before her death... Billy Graham went to speak to her.. She wouldn't BELIEVE... saying she did not need God... Very sad indeed..
This IS your song Norma Jean!!! Always and forever. Much love, may you rest in peace dear lady. Edit: And you seem to be more of a bonfire than a candle, if I may be so bold.
Norma Jeane... not even you song you were allowed tokeep, everybody thinks it is about Diana now. So unfair, really Elton couldn't you write Diana a different song?
