Czech name of the Elbe river is actually Labe, Labem is only used in names of the places near river - like Ústí nad Labem (Ústí upon Labe)
Interesting use of Slavic instrumental case (-om, -im, -em) to indicate place location.
In Serbian would be 'Ušće Labe' ili 'Ušće nad Labom'.

The "Vindobona" I know is serviced by ex-GDR's "SVT 175" or "SVT 18.16" - a nice train with 2 driving cars with a 1.000hp diesel engine in each of them and some passenger cars between them, even a restaurant car... This train was able to get to a top speed of 160 km/h. It's nice to know ÖBB revived the spirit of this train in one of their Railjet connections.
Please note: The Mountains you called Ore Mountains/Erzgebirge are truly called Saxony-Bohemian Swizerland/ Sächsisch-böhmische Schweiz/ Elbsandsteingebirge and are not belong to the Erzgebirge!

Went from Venice to Wien and then to Zürich with Railjet first class this summer. Business class was empty then.
The lok is the 1216 (Taurus 3) able to operate in Austria and Germany but also under the 3kv of the Czech catenary;
The 1116 is able to operate in Austria and Germany (also a lot of other places even Romania) but not Czech Republic.
You can distinguish between the 2 because the 1216 has 4 pantographs and 4 doors (and is slightly longer and has bigger headlights, with the third light on top of the cab) and the 1116 just has 2 or 3 pantographs and 2 doors closer to the center of the loco (and the 3rd light is lower)
1116 is able to operate in Czech Republic but only under 25kV AC. They regularily run regional trains to České Budějovice
Another way to tell apart 1116 from 1216 is the traction motor sound if it's an alto sax sound then you have 1116 1016 DB BR182 MRCE BR182. Not present OBB 1216 DB BR183. 1216 Taurus 3 is also equipped for 1.5kv DC Netherlands which means it can possibly run Hollandstrecke Duisburg Utrecht via Oberhausen & Arnhem.

The tickets for business are quite expensive but I guess it's worth it for the experience, I might book rjx business to vienna just to try it out. For the tickets I would suggest buying it from whoever is operating the train, in this case OBB. It is ussually the cheapest option from what ive found.

Great video! Question. You say it is cheaper to split the tickets. But what are te consequences for the seat? Changing seat halfway? Or not?
This train is not reservation compulsory (the same is true for most trains in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic); A ticket (whether second or first class) does not include a reservation; If you want to have a guaranteed seat in any class, you need to buy a reservation; With regards to the split ticketing; You buy 2 tickets (split in Breclav) and then one reservation (Business Class upgrade) Vienna-Berlin

This video is very helpful. My husband and I are planning a trip in October and to take this train. I checked the separate tickets on the Czech site and it's actually a bit more expensive to buy the tickets that way. (about AUD40 more). Did you say that you can sit in Business Class for not extra cost?
on czech, hungarian and austrian territory you must pay a surcharge of eur 15 for a business class reservation

The schedule is very tight, in a few hours the train was able to catch up with only one minute of delay. Although 800 km in 9 hours is not very fast.

Yes the schedule is very stretched because of the track works on the main line between Prague and Brno, therefore all trains are taking a diversion via Havlickuv Brod, which is a much slower line

Business class looks quite pleasant. I can remember when air travel was as pleasant or more so. Now? Air travel is horrible.

Yes because the main freight and shunting yard of vienna is situated behind the mainstation so freighttrains regularily use the mainstation to get there.

Took this from Prague to Berlin the other day, was quite surprised that it only stopped at Holesovice (i guess to prevent a direction switch?) and it was quite empty (though this could be covid related and because there's two czech regional trains to Usti nad Labem right before it). In my opinion the 2nd class seats are not that good for a really long journey, no recline, quite low, and not that much feet space. Would definitely recommend people to take one of the higher classes if they can afford to and are travelling all the way from Austria to Germany. It's hard to argue with that amazing quality of onboard food and that great ride quality though.
What did surprise me was that, as in your video, the locomotive was in red-black ÖBB colors! Wonder why they didn't repaint it into CD colors, maybe it's not CD-owned anyways and just takes its locomotives randomly from the ÖBB fleet?
there is no such train from Prague to Berlin that stops at only one place. (praha-holesovice) These kind of trains always stop at Usti and Labem hln, Decin hln, bad schandau etc.
All taurus locos with railjets in CD livery are leased by ÖBB. So they change locos when they need to, because they dont care about livery. They care about the type. On these trains to Berlin only 1216 locos can be used. Other ones will not be able to ride to Prague because of different current in trolleys.
The Stop just at Praha- Holesovice is because they did some Maintenace Works on the Praha- Brno- Route this Summer
@@burkhardschlenkrich1870 I don’t think that has anything to do with it, all passenger trains that would pass through Praha Holesovice stop there. And btw the rail line (praha-) Kolin- Havlickuv Brod- Brno is located somewhere completely else than the station of Praha Holesovice.
They don't call at Prague main station because of time economy concerns since Highlands detour route is taking +2 hours of travel time

Now the route through the Ceska Trebova is reconstructed and at least another year it will run through Vysočina / Havlickuv Brod. therefore, the driving time to Prague is longer, however, I have the impression that very heavy traffic on the detour route also adds delays. it's not so painful yet but sometimes it would want 50 / 60fps filming, not all scenes are completely ok at 30fps.

This looks 3 times better, and is three times cheaper than what you got.

An I the only one that finds Vienna Main station ugly, featureless with no character and like a shopping mall? I mean I expected given its history for Vienna to have some magnificent stone 19th century beautiful station. I’m sure the current one works well but it’s just an office complex with a station stuck underneath.
The historic railway stations were heavily damaged in WW2 and demolished a few years later. the old Südbahnhof, predecessor of the current Hauptbahnhof, was built in typical post-war architecture. Like the other Vienna stations, it was a terminus station. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, a modern through station became essential for Vienna. So the new main station was built on the site of the Südbahnhof. Opinions can certainly be divided about the architecture. But it is clean, well-maintained and ensures smooth rail traffic in and through Austria. And that is probably what counts
