I don't know about practicing songs but I seen an interview with her guitar player and he said he would go over to her house, they would just hang out and at some point she asked him if he knew a song. Then he'd practice the cords for a little bit and then they would just do it. If you watch stay, or Adele's million years ago you can see her looking to her left on occasion, she's reading the words. The guitar player said that she would usually do them in one take
All the comments are valid as that is how she performs. However she does practice her craft many hours a day as with all prodigies and dedicated performers in any genre.
She is perfection all the way. Listen to her doing "How Great Thou Art" she will blow your mind 100% . Her LA Guitarist said she would suddenly say lets do this song then would tell him just follow me. lol

Ivan Mendez one of her guitarist said in an interview that most of their tracks were recorded on the fly, one and done, sometimes a second try was needed if he made a mistake, great reaction girl, keep riding with Angelina, and I'm right there with you ✌️🤪
Great request Just Me and wonderful reaction Lorraine. Angelina, regardless of age, has IMO the richest voice that hugs my soul. Lorraine, thanks for posting a link to the original video. John Legend refer's to a term 'Perfect Imperfections' when describing a person in his song 'All Of Me', which Angelina has covered with her jazz inspired style of singing. Seem's to me that, since jazz is such an imperfect form of vocalizing, Angelina needs to be referred to as 'The Queen Of Perfect Imperfections'.
Lorraine .. it should never be an embarrassment to have a tear or two from true heartfelt emotion. Your reactions to Angelina are lovely .. as are you.
My dear Lorraine, this IS Angelina practicing. When you see Angelina at home, on her own, or accompanied by her LA guitarist Ivan Mendez or her Norwegian guitarist Egil Clausen, that is how Angelina practices. I'm guessing this is a second take, maybe even a first. Ivan and Egil have both stated in interviews that Angelina picks a song. She gives the guitarist a few minutes to learn it if they don't know while she lets them know how she wants it to go if needed. They may or may not run through a practice run or 2, rarely from what I understand and then they turn the camera on and in essence she says "follow me" and thus we have many recordings just like this which again was a masterpiece. Here is a link to interviews with both. Very informative. Ivan Mendez, her guitarist in California, has done an interview about his relationship with Angelina. He was hired quite by chance on one of her early visits to California. He mentioned among other things that their sessions were most often unplanned and followed Angelina's lead on what she wanted. She made the choices. I'm telling you people to wake up and understand that she is an entity that was mysteriously sent to us from Valhalla in Viking Heaven by the Nordic God Odin. Am not sure if he had contact with Allah as well, for Angelina's grandmother Mery Zamani is Persian and there is an abundant amount of her prodigious DNA in her granddaughter.
Angelina began to develop these vocal abilities literally as a baby, at the time when our brains and linguistic capacities are in full plastic development mode. Add love of music, musical aptitude, dedication and a supportive environment and you end up with Angelina Jordan A-Star. You know you in the presence of a true artist by how easy they make it look. The truth is, it takes a ton of work to get good enough that you can make it look easy.
Great job Lorraine Marie, Angelina's singing has had me wrapped around her musical little finger for almost 3 years. I have heard her thousands of times and will never tire of her voice. I checked your playlist and was surprised to see you had not reacted to "I Put A Spell on you", ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html Angelina was 9 years old. Thumbs up young lady.
All I can say is that this little girl has been the most impactful singer I have ever known in my 70 years. I'm not going to say she's the best (Because that's meaningless) but with virtually every song she sings, she can bring me to tears. I've never known another that does that to me. As far as I can figure out, she's magical; I have no other explanation. 😎
She is truly 'To die for' ! I adore Lana Del Rey but in the two covers Angelina has done of her hit songs 'Born To Die' and 'Young And Beautiful', Angelina's renditions just penetrate me so much more deeply. It's like she has a direct line to my inner soul. I find the same being the case when it comes to ballads originally done by Rhianna (Stay), as well as ALL of Adele's great ballads Angelina has covered.
Nice reaction. How is it possible ? Indeed, no one knows... Angelina can evoke a tearing-up response in multiple ways: one is the emotion of the song, something she can convey like no other; another is simply "tears of beauty"... her voice is so beautiful you tear up... I don't know any other singer who can do that (at least not for me )
Great reaction and comments and I'm looking forward to your next video. You certainly get Angelina if you are feeling the emotions that we all do! There is no question that Angelina practices. However, you'll notice in many of her less formal performances, she is actually reading the lyrics as she is performing! She is known to do many of her songs in just one or two takes. I assume that as a reactor, gaining subscribers and boosting your analytics are very important. Your reaction and praise for Angelina was welcomed, but I'd like to share some thoughts on what might help you attain your channel goals. Lovely reaction thanks , ANGELINA does extensive practice on her overall singing technique daily and imo often when giving a performance she will experiment with her vocals.for eg " I'd rather go blind ".for these performances recorded at home she will choose a song quick familiarity and record often just 1or 2 takes reading the lyrics from her device.
Lorraine THIS IS PRACTICE 😀. This videos were originally meant for checking if she erred. Later on Grandma Mery released them on YT. Practicing around 36 hours a week since age 3 or 4. At age 16 she is already a seasoned pro. Some very respected Vocal coaches said, that she could have given master clas vocal coaching at age 10. No Joke!!! Elmar from Germany.
I assume she's doing some practicing, maybe singing under the shower or while brushing her teeth, but I know a lot of her recordings even with live musicians were not rehearsed, like the guitarist would stop over at the Jordan's after work for a dinner invitation, and after they'd talk some music and Angelina would say "hey, you know that one?" and if not he'd look up the cords and Angelina's say "just follow" me and then they'd record it on the spot in one or two takes, Angelina often reading the lyrics while singing... - but on the other hand she had been "practicing" since age one and a half, she sure got her 1000 hours...
Wonderful reaction LM to (12) Angie. She was in her bedroom in her (what she call's) her little music corner. “A Natural Woman” Acoustic (Aretha Franklin Tribute) ua-cam.com/video/rt6KhBxiaDo/v-deo.html she’s 12.5 yo. (She did this right after Aretha died & did a very respectful version) “How great thou art” ua-cam.com/video/WLAEy1LIHrc/v-deo.html She's 12 & gets very low a C3-B2 one of the lowest she sings at. “Million years ago” by Adele ua-cam.com/video/QHLtZQ3sIwE/v-deo.html Angie is 12 here
Hi, Lorraine, the like button seems to be missing and there is only a dislike button. I particularly like this practice video of hers. Just love, love her voice and want more, more of it. It is always sad when the song ends. THIS is her practice! I love your frank and tender reaction, Grandma Ellen, over and out, 💜
Angelina as a child already had that rasp and low register voice. She can go as low as Elvis's voice which you can see in "How Great Thou Art". What makes her performances more attractive is the amount of soul and emotions she pours into these songs. Great reaction LorraineMarie, can't wait for your next one.
You asked about her preperformance practice, and undoubtedly she works on her craft. Yet when it comes to her actually recording a piece, you would be surprised to learn that she almost always performs the song she wants in one shot. There's a great interview with her young guitarist, Ivan Mendez, that you have to watch. Ivan speaks about his visits with the family all day with the actual performance occurring in one sitting that evening. He also speaks about getting lost in her performance as he tries to focus on his role, playing the guitar. Here's that link: ua-cam.com/video/2uQyt2T3ayE/v-deo.html Angelina's physically and intellectually a child prodigy in music. Her ability to comfortably reside at a lower vocal register while maintaining excellent vocal control is not something the vast majority of young girls can achieve. On top of this, she can move from one register to the next and back again within a single word. Intellectually there's no way we can quantify how she's able to understand the music. In one interview Angelina said of herself, “When I sing I go to another world, and the world is like endless, it’s full of happiness and I love it, it’s amazing”. If you haven't watched it already, check out her original, "What is Life", released at the age of 12. Rather than a general statement Angelina includes her grandmother and little sister, Juliette, in the piece, as they are very important in her life. "WHAT IS LIFE" (Angelina Jordan, 2018) - ua-cam.com/video/Bv0r77KN7RA/v-deo.html
I get the feeling she doesn't practice per say. More so is always practicing as a biproduct of always singing and creating. As if she could do a great job practicing a song once, or more finding her interpretation and then delivering. A lot of great singers can practice something a thousand times, but she wouldn't have had time for the 200+ performances she's already done. The little that has been said of her suggests this is more a constant artistry than a memorize and execute kind of thing. The guitarist with her in a handful of other covers said for these together specifically that they just pick a song, spend a bit feeling it out and then usually one take it once ready unless he goofs up bad enough. Paraphrasing. And I'm sure she's easy to be kind too, and he wouldn't say if she ever goofed up. But that's what he said. The impression he gives is he gets the notes down and she kinda sits quietly in her own world imagining her interpretation while he does so, and it's just a fifteen minute thing maybe. Others have said she can one take anything. We of course don't really know, and I assume sometimes at least she practices quite a bit on some, but the overall workload and artistry suggests there isn't time for all of them, and that there is little to clean up when she doesn't. Her imperfect performances are often her most moving and more than good enough. And her artistic ideals also suggest she isn't into music to perfect anything. More into improvising. Asking her accompaniment like this dude Ivan to follow her lead as she sings and adjust accordingly. I imagine some artists are more perfectionists and robotic, some can do it either way and work with anyone, and some butt heads with their opposites, maybe some improv types don't mesh together at all. She by all we've seen and read would be more into the improvisational on the spot interpreting of music. Found a beautiful chemistry with Ivan for sure. It's cool you picked up on that vibe. No harm in practicing something a thousand times, and finding strengths to lean on. But seems AJ has a little something extra, all kinds of artistry and versatility. A lifetime of creation in front of her. I'm sure the practice is still there and a good thing for her at times, just isn't necessary so much. Maybe one day we see her sing a song the same way twice, or see or hear of her grinding in the studio on a song she wants to be a certain exact way. But not yet. There is little a skilled artist and vocalist has to do an exact way, even when she is performing for or with others in a collab, and not in charge of it. Say as part of a group on a show. Most of her observable practices seem more like developing overall chemistry, than some sort of exact blueprint. This also could be why she used the same musicians she used too in Norway this summer. Also why her family said they would hold out for creative control. Maybe it isn't always a given, that chemistry and proper fit. I imagine her band members will be a trusted tight nit group throughout her career. Capable of adjusting to her, following her, and using rehearsal as more of a feeling out process than an exact science.
Always great comments and spot on. AJ is so much it’s difficult to capture in words. Mad respect for getting to the heart and core of what AJ does naturally.
@@stevenhambek846 Thank you kindly Steven. Appreciate it. With time to reflect on it now, I assume more than a handful of her performances are more like actual practice beforehand. Like the triple threat Adele cover on AGT, or It's a man's world with the gigantic NAF brass band. But I still overall stand by it. I know growing up around musicians quite a few can butt heads, usually a singer will lead in potential changes, and not always is everyone else given a voice. Also that a lot just want to know what to do, I bet working with Angelina isn't for everyone, and guys like Ivan that can jive with her like that aren't that common. But she can clear as day deliver, and even improvise at the same time without throwing anyone off, when her accompaniment need more of a script like in those two mentioned performances. We can see both those practices or some of it, and for the most part, practice is for those around her, but not always is everything her call like it will be going forward, and her improv isn't allowed to mess with the timing without people who can follow her lead. Or with too big of a band. Or time constraints on TV even. In those cases I assume practice is important for her. Bands like she has in Norway, the guitarist she had in Norway, or a guy like Ivan are a luxury for sure. Her perfect is amazing, but her creating and controlling the pace improvisationally hits different and sometimes hits much harder. It is also certainly her favorite way if she could choose. She must want the freedom, she would have been different this summer if time in the studio and away from the stage had changed that. She made life real difficult on her band, and good they did well with it and it was beautiful. Good on them for being so adaptable and there for her. I will say the community helps me a lot in trying to understand all this stuff, like jazz music in general, some reactors for some terminology, or Chris, BigAngieFan recently explaining one of her favorite types of music to listen too, from an interview at 14, helped me start to think of some of this. No doubt she isn't to be understood fully, but it's interesting to try. It would be an amazing conversation with her, that's for sure. We'd still have difficulty fully understanding and capturing in words forever though.
Very nice LorraineMarie, always enjoy your reactions with Angelina. You mentioned that we should only suggest "good" ones from Angelina...😁😁, here's the problem with that, every thing Angelina sings is fantastic so there is a vast amount of good ones from her 200+ covers and originals, this could take some time. Cheers, stay well. BTW, mentioned in the comments below is her cover of "How Great Thou Art" in which Angelina channels her inner Elvis voice for this unbelievable rendition: ua-cam.com/video/WLAEy1LIHrc/v-deo.html

Here's that link:

Angelina's physically and intellectually a child prodigy in music.

Dince you ssked for it, id like you to react to AJ’s “Feeling Good,” and/or “Cry Me A river”
God the people who comment on Angelina videos creep me out lol
There is a lot to comment about. Prodigy, genius, angel.
The best way to not getting creeped out is, don't read them !
I hope this is your thumbnail picture because this is definitely nothing to shed a tear over she's okay but she's not that great

Hey LorraineMarie, this is the troll we fans told you about! He changed his name again! Isn't it sad that he trolls Angelina? Oh well, at least we know he lacks intelligence because he keeps adding himself to hers and your UA-cam algorithm! LOL
