    Follow me for another fun-filled 7 days ON CALL! I'm covering 3 hospitals in New York City when I take this call, and for some reason only one of them usually keeps me up at night. This call week happened to be over New Years which means I had to work both on New Years Day and New Years Eve...which normally I would think would be tough, but it actually wasn't a bad week as you will see! Hope you all enjoy it and see the cool cases I was able to do.

    What Covid related procedures do you do in IR?
    Follow up symptoms on Covid vaccine

    • @DrCellini
      @DrCellini  3 роки тому

      A lot of it is related to the clotting disorders in a lot of covid pts. DVT or PE lysis/thrombectomy, and or IVC filter placement. Also, sick pts needing biliary intervention or abscess drains just happen to have covid concurrently. Zero symptoms 3 weeks out from vaccine

  • @Ms.Opinionated

    Morning,
    Since your already board certified, can you do procedures without an attending? Are Fellows required to train Interns or Residents?

    • @DrAdamHotchkiss
      @DrAdamHotchkiss 3 роки тому

      That usually depends on the institution where you’re at and the attending you’re under. At many places the senior residents can do the surgery alone if the attending is within a certain distance and has ok’d it etc. And then of course as mentioned, the attending has to be ok with it because it’s under their license. There’s attendings that will let the first year do the whole procedure and attendings that will only let the senior resident retract. It’s highly variable. And as for teaching, in a teaching setting, everyone is expected to train those under them in some capacity.

    I'm offended that you do not think drain tubes are not life and death because when my father's bile duct was blocked it was life and death and you acted like it was nothing.

      No two drains are a like. An abscess drain is not emergent. A Biliary drain CAN be emergent if the pt is cholangtic
