- Practical inventions and the amazing power of electricity in removing rust from metal! Rusty metal surfaces can be a real problem, but I think, I solved this problem! In this video I’ll show you how I used an old laptop adapter and some knowledge to get rid of rust from an old metal wrench.
The process of removing rust from metal with the help of electricity is known as "electrolytic rust removal" or "electrolysis rust removal." It works on the principle of using an electric current to reverse the oxidation process that causes rust during the process hydrogen gas is produced which is flammable like in my other video where I made a hydrogen generator.
I hope you like watching this video!

"Kudos to the creators of this video! It effectively addressed a common problem - rust - and provided a solution that's both accessible and effective. The brief yet informative content highlighted the importance of addressing rust promptly to preserve the integrity of metal objects. The lesson learned here is to prioritize maintenance and swift action to prolong the lifespan of our belongings."
I like your innovation of cheap things 🎉🎉🎉 but cover is mislead able😮😮😮
OMG the thumbnail...
Just submerge in vinegar for at least 12 hours
That's what I do, works great, No electrical hazard.
Important to note which polarity the pieces of metal is connected to.
Connect it one way and the rust will transfer to the other metal, reverse the connection and the flow of metal/rust will be reversed..
Basic electro-plating
how to know which way to connect?
@@gerardvincent8041 rust will go from negative to positive. Electrode positive. Material negative.
Oh vinegar on its own will do much better, no power source required double strength vinegar used for cleaning even better again
Direct add hot water with caustic soda and put rusted spanner 🔧🛠️ leave for some time..
NO. Cold water first and then slowly add caustic soda.
That way you stand a chance of keeping your eyesight.
Нет я вам отвечу это бесполезно каустика металл сожрёт
I wish I could remember all these hacks.
The beauty of being able to record memories 🙄
Thanks! Is the secondary metal piece any kind of metal? Also, does anybody know the voltage?
The PSU in the video says 24V 3A. So about 70-80W.
Good method.. thanks
I'm too busy to do all this, normally i will buy a new set 👍🏼🥂
Too busy watching YT? I know the feeling bro 😅
@@jameschong1111😂😂😂
muy efectiva esa tecnica para quitar el oxido
Great 👍.
The main picture is misleading, dangerous and fatal!!!
I agree. I thought we were about to see sparks and molten metal!😮
Nice ideas bro❤
good work!
Nice working
I just found new invention that you never seen before

Ilmu sangat bermanfaat teman.
Wd40 and wire wool , that is all
Great trick Inventor101,i send you a gretting👋🏻
Thanks Leo!
Fast view on This Video 📸😀
How much is the voltage? Please tell me
1:50 whats that?
That is a 24 volt 3 amp DC Power supply.
Please create video for how to stop rubber handles from coming loose on pliers 😂
Superglue
Good job
Is it sugar or salt
Can soda be used instead of salt?
GREAT JON ON PRACTICAL INVENTION - HOW TO QUICKLY REMOVE INVENTION INVENTION 101👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Use a wire brush in a drill
12 Volts or 220 ?
He used a mains 220Vac to a low voltage dc , probably 5 or 12 V it has to be DC current. Don't go using 220V mains ... deadly
How long to leave the tools in the water with electricity? Is it a matter of minutes or hours?
Long as you need to remove it and wash it with water occasionally to see if you got the results you wanted. Overnight is preferred. I use washing soda mixed with water for my liquid.
How many volts ?
Very good my friend
Thanks John.
@@Inventor101 you're welcome
This needs to be coated or it will start rusting very quickly
Angle grinder quicker
You should probably warn people the water is gonna boil.. and getting that black stuff off afterwards does take a bit of elbow grease.. but this is how people in institutions make hit water when we have no other way 😅
I will be using your technique for several of my rusted tools
Just soak them in vinegar overnight instead.
great
Sand blaster is so much faster
Ok cool, so a cheap DIY electrolysis contraption! Only downfall is you cannot mess with voltage which really isn’t that big of an issue. Unless your trying to remove rust from something huge, no reason to raise amps or voltage.
You can do the same thing with a battery or battery charger.
Car battery chargers work better
@@6lr6ak6 👍 that’s what I use.
Okay working for me.
3 things:
Oil the cleaned parts immediately after drying.
The larger the sacrificial metal the faster it works, overall time can be 2 to 12 hours.
You can use washing soda aka sodium carbonate aka soda ash instead of salt as well.
Huh. DIY electrolysis
Wire brush would be quicjer
Did anyone else see the name of the adapter? It was ac/dc like the band
Or, just soak it in vinegar overnight.
My daddy was finally so proud of me oh well this actually lasts only less than a minute he got the shock of hie life
Buy a wire wheel for your drill and a can of wd40 , saves all this going on , or soak in diesel then wire wheel it
could we electrocuted by accident?
Is the second flat piece with the holes in it just steel?
OK👍👌
I❤ assam
Another of work when you can take a wire wheel and get the same results.
Alternatively, a can of wd40 and the wirewool will do that without destroying a pc adapter.
👍😀

старо как Мир , в начале 80х это всё делалось , не повторяйся , за умного не прокатишь . ТОШНО СМОТРЕТЬ , ЧЕСНО .
No real steelness steel life time end no rust attached
No meaning
The the thumbnail shown is completely misguiding & misleading, should have been changed. . .
New spanner £1.50

Sad

❤❤❤
Nice job, but you're going to be so tic'd when you're introduced to what a wire wheel and oil can do
Electrolysis... of course
How to burn down your house quickly. Be much quicker scrubbing the rust off like where he connected the live wire wtf is this shannaingans
COCA COLA REMOVES RUST
like my comment 😢
