as a hungarian i try to help to pronounce our city names :D pécs is like "paech", szeged is "seg-ed" (not segd) also you didnt appoint pingala anywhere :) and also send an envoy to babylon for extra science
Thx for rerolling, i guess i am not leaning out of the window here, by saying everyone who knows civ knows rerolling is just part of the game. An intresting and important part too. Idk why some people think, that other civ players would think negativly about rerolling. Playing a bad start is just dumb and less fun. No achievment comes from not rerolling.
@Veranicus I never re-roll. It gives a great challenge to just go with what you have. It forces you to adapt to different strategies instead of always trying to have a good start.
I love the idea of a naval victory with planes. Get an America sized navy with the same number of aircraft carriers! Also, my man pingala has been sitting in the governor screen for so many turns
I love that this is a Hungry game, that won't make use of the River bonuses, or either of their unique units. Plus not seeing much Geothermal potencial (for the Thermal Bath which is good for Culture Vic but still Waterparks are stronger and this is a naval map. I mean if you find some cool CS, you can still Levy their Military for an early kill of some Civ and transition in Diplo Win or Culture Win later (depending on what those CS are.)
Would love to see the fast flight strat. And hey, with Seondeok in the game snowballing science, the AI might actually field a single fighter or anti-air unit to keep it interesting!
The early flight&naval force strategy won’t let you bring Hungary to it’s full potential, but that’s already moot bc of a single river on the whole island. I say go for it, it definitely sounds like an interesting challenge.
"It might be worth it to kill Brussels this early in the game" Dude, YOU'RE FREAKING MATHIAS! City states are your thing, you'll field massive armies for pennies!
Generally I find levying near to your enemy to be more useful as you can boost or even create an army right on their door step. This can be hard though as generally they will carry more influence over that city state than you as they are closer. If you need the space the clear out Brussels but holding onto it can be very useful as if you are attacked you could levy their army to defend yourself. Their army might not be as strong as one you can build yourself though.
air strategy sounds great because I don't think out of anyone's series I've watched, besides your stream the devastation of it hasn't been shown 1 vote towards air strat! -Astro
I would say either go for the naval/flight strategy and rely on levying city states with Matthias' passive Or try a diplomatic victory by grabbing every city state.
Feel like settling in place would have been a better start. Hungary gets that bonus to district and building build speed for any districts ACROSS A RIVER FROM A CITY CENTER. Meaning you'd have had faster build speed for a decent Campus and an earlier library.
Very excited for this particular series, but also, I would love to see you tackle Japan or the Maori again (I know you did Maori at the launch of the expansion but I love that civ)
title definitely sucked me in. I like continents maps and islands when there's auckland. As such, Naval domination is SOOO effective. I never use planes, though. Always beat the game on deity before the AI has access to them, and do just fine without them myself, so very interested in what you do here.
Since you mention air strategy, it'd be cool to see you use more late game units in a playthrough sometime, which I'm not sure how you could do since you usually win much earlier :P
The best thing: with your capital in that place, you could purchase a coastal tile and use your civ ability to build the harbor 50% faster! Can't believe you didn't think about this 7:22 The trader will pay itself off in 50 to 60 turns.

I know you usually don't like mod, but this one I believe needs a chance. In any case, keep up the excellent work!
Tried Norway after your last series, managed to knock our Japan in the Classical Era but when I tried to attack Australia in the Mid game they destroyed my army. They got too far ahead in Science and I couldn’t soften their army or defences :( that was on emperor difficulty. Mad respect to you

This naval flight strategy sounds pretty cool I'll be looking forward to this series a lot if you go with that (I would be anyways though).
i would definitely love to see more air combat in your civ vids. i can make an argument for researching combined arms for aircraft carriers, though, since they could definintely strike from the sea, and it currently looks like the sea isnt really dominated by any major powers
“I think we default into a Science Victory” *Korea appears immediately after saying that* With every game that contains Korea, it defaults to Domination.
LOL the "frigates into battleships into bombers" win is the only way I've ever been able to make a domination victory work on deity (and I'm doing it right now as Maori). Otherwise all my Civ6 wins seem to end up as culture. I've literally never won a science victory after 700+ hours in the game. I managed diplo once, before the diplo lategame got nerfed. Would be interesting to see how you do a "fast" diplo win.
