    Def do not use Gaff tape on a car. He's incorrect, its not designed to peel off easily. Its used for its strong adhesive, strength, and heat resistance.

    Great info, I hadn’t thought about placing the wireless mic in the boot and then attach the lav to the car.

    The better the wind suppression (and high pass filtering native to the mics response curve), will allow for much better dynamic range and subtlety notes that are tough to pick up with the mud of the wind

    Phone is so simple, and to admit I've never thought / tried that. Even the Rode II wireless mics taped onto the back get some wind noise for me on the Tacoma but, the phone I must try. Great video buddy, and the GTI is looking good nice setup with the new exhaust.

    Need a little advice... I have a gopro 12 for filming but the audio is terrible when I do track days. The camera is internal but you just can't hear the engine or the exhaust. I'm not sure if the technical terms but sounds very tinny to me. What's the best add on microphone in this scenario

    100% the biggest issue with my videos is not doing this. What to record and how to put it in my videos is my challenge. I have used my zoom H1n with a rode lav mic and that worked great!

    5:00 what are the benefits of using the lav mic and the wireless mic? Or is it one or the other

    • @TheCarCreative
      @TheCarCreative  6 місяців тому

      Possibly less to tape? Lighter product, easier to maneuver or get into hard places. Not sure the reason I did this in particular 🧐

    I’m a videographer for a dirt track near me. I have been trying to get video and audio from the cars, but even with the camera audio levels set to the lowest level, the audio maxes out. Do you have any tips with a shotgun microphone that could help? I haven’t tried the dead cat, but I don’t imagine it’s going to prevent the audio from maxing out. I’m using a Canon R7 to shoot video.

    • @TheCarCreative
      @TheCarCreative  2 місяці тому

      You could try and get an external recorder with 32 bit float audio. It’s essentially like “raw” photos but for audio and gives you more flexibility in post production. Plugging a shotgun or mic into that could prevent the camera maxing out. Otherwise make sure there isn’t any +48 volt turned on if your microphone doesn’t need it, which unless it’s a bit shotgun mic you won’t typically.
      You could also add a “limiter” in camera which will try and max out the DB in camera to whatever you set it to, so like -3 or something and that could prevent it from peaking possibly.

    Lav clipped even on -30 db…

  • @THE46GUY

    I have a zoom h2n external mic and when running a lavalier 3.5mm external mic to the line input, the gain control on the h2n is only 0 through 10 but you can't go below that like -12 or -15. So when I set it at zero and I put the lav mic on the back bumper between the two exhausts I get terrible audio clipping at the top of second, third and 4th gear. And there's no way for me to set the decibel level below zero on the H2N
    So I'm curious if you use the wireless mics from movo or Rhodes... Do they allow you to control the decibel level or gain before it actually reaches your external mic? Can you set your game below zero on the wireless lavaliers first before that audio gets to your h2n or H4 external mic?

    Only thing I would say is that about using free rev exhaust note over video is that the engine will sound diff under a load etc…. Just an observation as you’re obviously making videos leaps and bounds above any videos i’ve made

    • @TheCarCreative
      @TheCarCreative  3 місяці тому +1

      Great point. Often times those exhaust notes (for me) sit underneath a music track or something but if I’m going for accurate exhaust I’ll get those sounds overlayed, but if I’m just trying to set the tone with some sfx then a rev will do the trick 👌🏼

    First off great stuff. I love your channel. You have helped me a lot. I disagree with the last part of the video though. It's fine to do this with permission. You should ask first and give credit. Capturing high level audio takes time, practice, and equipment. Taking audio off another video is plagiarism and is just as bad as taking the video and posting it as your own. I'd say better advice is to purchase sound packs from the people who have taken the time to create them. Support your fellow creatives. Again great work, great content, but maybe change that last one up to not promote plagiarism.

    So with using a lav mic, does it not work using one connected to a iPhone and using the voice memo app?
    Or It would have to be with a camera like your recording a video but strictly audio would get used from the clip?

    • @TheCarCreative
      @TheCarCreative  Рік тому +2

      That’s a great idea! If you have a lav that connects to your phone do that! I didn’t think of that 🙌🏼
