We have in our state a "Stupid Motorist Law". You pay for the first responders who have to rescue and recover you if you intentionally drive into a flooded area or other hazardeous environment.
So, then tell them to send out second responders instead 😂
@@ThisIsMyRealNameYa los tenemos, es la brigada de la UME del Ejército y Protección Civil...!!!
Arizona, do not enter when flooded really means it.
Excellent idea
There is always someone who decides to drive through a flooded road.
They paid for it---stuck in the floodwaters for 45 minutes. Could've been a lot worse, though.
Yep... My sister in-law 🤣🤣
@@opieangst oh dear!
No problem if you know how to drive through deep water
Only Knuckleheads
All my life I have heard about Nancy Creek flooding. But I have never been able to witness it like this. Thank you for showing this video.
Where are the ditches? I don't one on either side of the road. This is just asking for street flooding.
The vid says July 2022 in Chamblee GA.
@@rainestorm762Flooded like this all the time in the 70s.
You should send the house builder a thank you note for grading your property right.
Yep, quality work.
Years ago working for Burbank, prior to the pump upgrades, Hollywood Way would frequently flood out under Vanowen/Empire. I was part of the emergency crew barricading the street while watching the cops arguing with idiots that insisted they could drive thru. Despite the dude wading down the sidewalk in chest deep water. It's amazing how dense people can be.
I used to live near that exact area you’re talking about. People are exceptionally thick headed in that region. 😂
@@mkb7013 You mean dumb !!
Lived on Vanowen in the 90’s. A year or two before the 94 quake, balboa park flooded so bad and so fast that I think someone lost their life there. Sad.
These cars are driving way too fast for road conditions.
🤭
Time lapse camera sped up.
Lmao
😂😂😂
@@jac6362it was a joke
I used to keep my horse at a barn that had Nancy Creek running through the property. Flooding was a regular occurrence. I can’t say I miss it at all!
Is there any particular reason it floods so often?
@@magesalmanac6424 the state it's located in is semi-coastal and gets sudden, heavy rainfall often.
That was like that in Cartersville, GA... I would drive across a small bridge, and I would see horses in the flooded farm field..
Guys, isn't the motorist being taken away on the stretcher, it's one of the first responders... Odd.
That is true lol
Slipped and injured maybe?
After about the 1:20 mark in the video I'd have gone into "turn around, don't drown" mode, like (supposedly) a normal person would do.
That's because evolution gave you a brain that actually works (thank god!). Seems some people haven't evolved that far yet, but we keep letting them back into the gene pool.
@@AndrewZelenka And some Neanerthals think they can drive out of the gene pool and end up drowning at the shallow end.
Yes. This video illustrated one reason why this might actually be more tricky than I'd have guessed, presumably when the road runs roughly parallel with the creek or waterway. The flood waters first appeared to rise from the left side of the camera view, but shortly afterward the creek apparently overtopped its banks somewhere off-screen to the right. This was when the largest amount of water appeared.
Slowed down to 0.25 you can see that car had a serious bow wake. It was moving when it hit that water. I think that is what did it in. I don't think the water was deep enough to smother that car going slow.
would have made it creeping through
Most new cars the air intake is in the front fender and is fairly low.
Distributor cap got wet. Happen to me the spark plugs won't spark.
@@dfinlen i'm about 90% sure that year model would have ignition coils, it more likely sucked water in the intake
Yeah, at 1:53 you can see the entire grill is under water.
If you look at the timestamp, it was literally about 30 minutes from the car driving into the flooded street to the time they got out and most water already gone.
Literally about 30 minutes, exactly, more or less.
So, that road is IN the creek. Nice plan.
You don’t understand. Wow
@@user-peach408🤭
Doesn't look like a proper creek flood. Just, a road flood. Runoff. Take a close look at that drain, bottom left of screen. It's non-operational. When it fills up, you can't see any suction towards it. Stagnant water, like a clogged toilet. Post10's videos have never been so relevant. (He unclogs drains with rakes.)
In Austin we have multiple low water crossings and warnings not to drive into those crossings during heavy storms but motorists do it all the time, drive around the barricades and get washed downstream. It puts the first responders lives in danger just saving those idiots who don't listen.
Wow. Really reminds me of the carpenteria California mud slides that dislodged thousands of tons of boulders and killed a bunch of people on the hillsides a few years back. All the rain during that storm also happened in about ten minutes as well. Difference was that b/c of previous fires burning the vegetation on the hillside, there was nothing left to hold the boulders to the mountain. So in that few minutes everything came flooding down.
That was a tragedy, so sad for those families. My husband had a 24-hour tire service truck and was doing some service calls to Ventura, Santa Clarita, and Antelope Valley. Driving through the canyons wasn't easy.
Fail to plan, plan to fail.
In Australia we have the saying 'If its flooded forget about it' they use it to warn motorists not to drive through flood waters even if it looks safe.
Most every district has that saying and warning.
In this very state there are several roads next to creeks and rivers. Those prone to flooding often have folding signage that warn high water ahead/ water over road and not to drive. One near me has permanent non folding signs as it happens so often and the road is quite remote.
No matter how many signs, warnings, laws etc.. There's always folks who's cornbread just ain't done in the middle!
Here they say "Turn around. Don't drown"
More people should heed that 🙂
@@BigBoybobcat2014 the same is true here in East Tennessee. Still, there are always one or two nitwits that end up having to be rescued every single time it floods.
funniest part about that is the police seem to love getting stuck in flood waters themselves
What happened off scene? The stretcher wasn’t needed for the stuck driver I presume.
No, a first was responder was taken on the stretcher.
When Nancy Creek floods, it doesn't mess around. Been that way as long as I can remember it, and I'm one of those very rare people who's an Atlanta native.
Every spring.
There's always some idiot who doesn't follow the warning "Turn around, don't drown".
Well that street flooded crazy! A few years ago we too had a huge flood that even flooded the basement. I had to install a sump pump with the new renovation, including a check valve on the main sewer line. I hope I never have water in the basement again. 73
There’s a storm drain opposite the camera’s property at the left of this picture that appears to be about 1’x3’, probably large enough for average rainfall but this rain was intense! Either enlarge the drain or install more drainage in that particular area.
it probably drains into the creek when water level isn't elevated
My niece lives in an area of Clinton TN that has the same problem. Too little drainage causes flooding there pretty often.
Design worked exactly the way it should. In cases of heavy rainfall past the “100 year storm” roads stop becoming conduits for vehicles and become reservoirs for storm water. Otherwise “enlarging the drain” creates even more dangerous flash flood flood risk downstream.
Sometimes the flood waters come up through those drains...
This is a very good video / it reminds me of the heavy rain and flash floods we get in Oklahoma, quite often
I know all about them heavy rains in Oklahoma. I used to live in Enid. Can't say I miss it, but now I live in Seattle, so the rain continues 😅
I'm from Tahlequah and the Illinois River and Baron Fork overflowing their banks from flash flooding is quite a sight to see, and yeah, flash floods in Oklahoma are definitely something that happen often.
Somebody call Post10 💦
You beat me to it, ha. I can just see him out there with his rake.
@@charleslanphier8094 ha, I commented " Where is Post 10 when you need him?" and then started looking, ...I knew there would be others, ha.
Shoutout to @Post 10
It's crazy how fast it flooded
That time-lapse covered 10 freaking hours. What is "fast" about THAT??????
Check the timestamps on the video. It was just under 2 hours, not 10.
@alexclement7221 10 hours?
Did you even look at the timestamp, or are you just terrible at math?
We, as in the “human race” need to always be on the look out, because Mother Nature is not an obstacle to be conquered but instead admired. Just my random thoughts after midnight.
Must be newbies to the area. Nancy Creek has been flooding like that since I was a young girl over 50 yrs ago. My cousins lived near it.
Wow, you must be really old.
Neat. Why did your neighbor need an ambulance?
I had the same question. I was thinking maybe they panicked but it seems odd that they sat in the car even as the water recedes.
It was an older gentleman, maybe he got nervous. It was good that the ambulance was there, I was told that one of the first responders broke their leg when they stepped off the wall. You can see them go in the ambulance at 3:25: ua-cam.com/video/7dPIqK09mKI/v-deo.html
@@N4BFRVision That's crazy! I wonder how that leg break happened?
Aww... Man... Sorry to hear that. Thanks for answering.

So the place flooded with latte?
At 1:53 que stupid driver.
I’m just wondering what medical emergency occurred to warrant having to get on a gurney and take a trip in an ambulance. That’s a lot of first responders helping when all the person could have done was to wade a few feet out of the slow moving water and been on the grass.
Someone else commented that the first responder had broken his leg while stepping off a retaining wall, presumably in an area where the flood waters obscured his view of the ground.
What power the water has. I was getting nervous just watching
I could just hear the engine block crack on that white car that drove into the high water.
Who was taken out in the stretcher?
You can stop the video and see who was on the stretcher. It appears to be one of the first responders, who might have gotten hurt.
The initial camera man, who passed out from boredom...

Description: Over 2.5" of rain fell in less than 1 hour in the neighborhood
I remember mom and dad talking about Nancy Creek from when I was younger....they lived near it in the early 60's... It was flooding back then.. they moved to Jonesboro, Ga to get away from the flooding
Those cars drive really fast through that flood water.
My family been in Atlanta area since 1700's. I'm 75 & Nancy Creek has been flooding as long as I can remember. Drainage system fills with debris!
Wow that's awesome thanks for sharing
The sea was angry that day, my friends - like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli. 😮😂
Damn, the person driving into that must have been so scared. What a harrowing experience, that was so insane. People are awesome
All of those emergency responders who, during a widespread crisis are tied up rescuing someone stupid enough to drive into water with a car that rides low. What a shame.
They were mostly rescuing the first responder who had just suffered a broken leg.
The name of the driver of the white car was Ima Dumas.
"That escalated quickly"
Ron Burgundy
In my town (in Canada, mind you) neighbours or people watching a problem like this happening would just wade in and assist the person, wether it be as simple as pushing the car to lower water or getting them out entirely. It would have never gotten to the point of calling for aid. How many people watched or just walked by before emergency crews showed up?
Not sure. I didn't help because I was out of town that day and found out from the neighbors after.
Flood waters are more dangerous than they appear. It doesn’t take much to sweep a person off their feet.
I used to live in this neighborhood on Ensign Dr. many, many years ago!
There was like 10 inches of water, and it was an eddy. GMAFB
This video appears to show just a street flood! You can still see a lot of grass behind the street (between the street and the creek) This video shows more about horrible street / sewer maintenance than anything else. In the beginning of this video you can see a drain just to the left of the mailbox - this drain hardly does a thing with the water. The city / county needs to go in and check / clear all these streets / sewer drains.
Good day ,is this road build on a flood plane !? My own thought 🤔 is yes , next time build in a river/ canal !?
That was quick. Ky has roadsigns that say "if flooded turn around, you don't want to drown"
Who was being taken in an ambulance? Nobody got hurt in the view of the camera.
That car must have a really low air intake scoop or something. It didn't seem near deep enough to have stalled out.
yes flooded forget it. that said the wheels show the depth , what 40cm at max the speed may be the main cause of engine cut out. put in depth indicators!!!
in driving rain I did not see a river washing over a road a 1000cm deep caused by a new school car park were idiots did the flood and hydraulics calculations. You get a lot of this in Australia
it was deep enough to wash me away and strong enough. I was in a JZA80 supra in a suburb of Brisbane and it was 11:30 pm pitch black with head lights coming towards me so why think I'm driving into my death? The head lights were of a person who had just pulled off a U-turn and do you think they flashed or stuck around? A holes! I cam to a stop 50 m into a 100m flow, I lowered my drivers side window to be met by splashing water into my face, at the same time the water pressure was turning my car to face its flow. I had driven this road home a thousand time and never ever seen water even over the road but I knew this was as real as its ever going to get. Water was racing up and over my windscreen and roof at speeds that escape out the window was futile. Like in the movies I thought "Game over" But to this day I do not understand the 2 j engine was still running . I dropped the clutch and gave her every thing and she tried to go into the torrent and I felt her being pushed down from the flood water, then like the shark out of Jaws she launched up out of the waters into the air landing on the centre Island and I floored it to high ground. If I can tell you one thing its that I am alive because of Toyota . Thank you.
if you see it dont go in it,
if you don't stay calm, its your best hope
panic kills...
looks like about 3'" of rain on a road. Not a big deal
Las Vegas has a flash flood season. People get stuck in the same spots year after year, it's tradition.
Why did the white car stop. Did it stall out?
where did that big whirlpool thing come from in middle of the road?
So many ignorant people today. The water is over the road and your stupid enough to drive in it and floods your car. That puts others in danger because of your ignorance. You should have to pay for everything out of pocket including the ruined car. Only way to fix stupid is holding them accountable for their actions and must have consequences.
C'mon guys... You can not look at this stuff without Benny Hill Show music when people enters the scene at such a speed rate...
Yakitty Sax 🎷!!😊
So.. why did she need rescue? She drove into 18 inches of water and the car engine died. I don't get it.
My street in Houston used to do that every time it rained.
I live in the desert & we're not built for rain. Every few years we flood pretty bad in the lower sections of town. It's not unusual to see a section of road with a dozen vehicles, cars trucks & motorcycles. We don't bother with the vehicles, just pull the people out & let 'em walk home
No entendí… ¿la ambulancia es para qué?
How does anyone have a coversation?? And if its made public, its fair game.

I'm from charleston sc and when I seen the flood title I was expecting more. This was cute. In charleston it's so bad that if you piss outside it'll flood
i feel like the storm drain across the street is lacking and there needs to be one right in front of this house!
@@geocam2 100% correct!!!!
you call that a flood?!
I think your creek has a flooding problem. And, did anybody tell that driver they can't park there?
If you can't see the road, why drive into the flooded street???
Why didnt they just open the doors and walk away?
Is is me or are there fish swimming? Sure looks like it. But might just be an illusion
The problem is all the construction of parking lots and buildings up stream… the water rushes into the creek now.
Murphy candler lake use to be designed to prevent flash flooding… not anymore.
Am I the only one wondering why the ambulance arrived?
In this video they show how to hydro lock your motor. Lol once water makes it to the air intake the filter isn't stopping it the water goes thur the intake pipe past the filter right into the intake manifold to the top of the piston. Then the pistons that can't take the pressure from all the water being forced in break and get jammed in a way that the motor locks up. Which could have been avoided by not driving thur high water in a little car.
Emergency response for a car stuck in one foot of water?
One of the early first responders suffered a broken leg. The others were simply moving that car to get it out of the way of the ambulance.
HELLO EVERYONE!
REALLY ENJOYABLE VIDEO! THANK YOU GUYS!
There was some rain. The road flooded. Then it drained.
This is about as eventful as watching someone brush their teeth.
I'd say you got a drainage problem. :)
The way the road flooded so fast with a simply rain storm appears to indicate another Darwin Award of poor design and run off. Both sides are hills forcing water down to the road and likely the drains underneath were never sufficiently wide enough to cope with the run off for the terrain.
I wonder if the engine sucked in water and locked up.
Oh no, not AMR ambulance aka American Medical Response. If they take her to the hospital 3 miles down the road she'll get a transportation bill of like $1,800. My mother got one for 7-8 miles. One of the biggest ripoff health companies in America.
One of my relatives was sick and called me to let me know she was getting an ambulance to take her to the hospital. She wasn't in an emergency state but was on dialysis and needed to go get checked out because of complications. I called Uber who was there in 5 min, took her to the hospital 15 minutes away and cost $10 at most. Her previous bill was about $1500 for an ambulance. It would have taken me over 30 minutes to get to her to drive me herself so this worked well for her.
I'm in socal and it was $1400 for a 1.5 mi to the hospital! Insane.
Not as exciting as the thumbnail promised.
Drives into flooded roadway like they are certain it is only 3” deep, hauls butt, soaks airfilter with wake and stalls car. Proceeds to sit in stalled car for long time as 3” of water only gets deeper. But i guess we had the luxury of knowing it wasnt very deep as we watched it flood.
I only getscam ads that crSh my phone.there is no way to view this
Where is the creek. I see a road not a creek.
Not such a big deal if it came & went within five minutes. Am I missing something?
I wish people would put the state and/or country on their vids.
It says "Chamblee, GA" in the upper left corner. The time stamp is there, too. Also, the ambulance has "Dekalb County" on the side. Yes, there's a Dekalb County IL, but the soil is bright red in this vid. Of the two states, only Georgia is famed for their red, red clay.
Date and location are shown in the upper left corner of the video.
Why is there always that one person that can’t figure it out?
Is this in Atlanta? Happens every significant rain.
Switch the playback speed to 2x and watch this in 2mins 30s 😎
I do know that those cars are driving way too fast for those conditions....
Where’s the storm sewer drain
“Hello 911? Yes I’d like to abuse the system…”
Reminds me of the opening credits to King Of The Hill.
Where's Yakity Sax?
Driving above the speed limit on a road submerged with opaque, muddy water? That was dumb.
“Geeeeeee, let’s live by a water source that’s known for flooding, then cry when it overflows”
Makes sense to me 🤪
Hopefully they don't try to start that car, the possibility of the motor being hydro locked is probably 9 out of 10.
Well, THAT was exiting!
Where IS the exit?
It unflooded super fast too.
It would be a show but I would hate living with that monster nightmare right in my front yard!
