Little tip I found somewhere for NFC tags. Add a vibration to the shortcut. So when it detects the NFC and starts the automation you know it started.
How come I never thought of that? I was using Show Notification for letting me know it started instead! Thank you for the tip!

Request a Apple music shortcut:
1. Generate a menu to select the music to play first in my playlist
2. Start playing the selected music
3. After playing, shuffle and play next songs randomly from the playlist
Shortcut Request -
1. Take a Foto
2. Create a Album in a Fix Folder/Subfolder-Structure with the Name „[current Year]-[current Calendar Week]_[Static Text(always the same)]-[Variable Text]“
3. Move taken Photo to that new Album
4. Ask if you want to take more Photos for that Album?
-> Yes -> Save taken Photo to the same Album -> Repeat Question
->No -> Stop Shortcut

Auto directions to next event is exactly what I am looking for! However I have a request since the auto directions starts regarding the current time (even if you get into the car hours before the starting time of the event), so is there a way to have an if loop that triggers the shortcut only when you are close to the event’s time (let’s say 45-30 minutes before the start time) and do nothing before that? Cheers
For deleting alarms, you want the find alarms action with a filter that has "Label is" or "Label contains" if you have similar but not exact labels. Then you want to add a "repeat with each" action focusing on alarms. If you want to differentiate enabled or disabled alarms, read ahead, if not skip to the next sentence. You can add an if action that is focused on the repeat item (Tap the repeat item and make sure it is type alarm and Is Enabled is checked). Then add your delete alarm inside and focus it on repeat item. Hope this helps!

Love the series. I live outside the U.S. and I’ve been trying to set up a shortcut that will automatically toggle the iOS system setting’s default temperature unit between F and C each day so I get more familiar with Celsius. (I’d even be game to switch up the phone’s Preferred language!)
As far as I can tell, this part of settings (General > Language and region) can’t be connected to a shortcut, but I’d love to be wrong!

Hi Stephen, I enjoy your videos but as a senior, I am struggling to make the following shortcut. Are you able to make a shortcut to enable calls/messages/etc to be changed from my hearing aids to the car/Apple Carplay when I get in the car by pushing the shortcut on my iPhone 12 Pro (v17.4.1) and then another to revert calls back to the hearing aids? Can it be added to my Apple Watch (Series 3 with v8.8.1)? Also is there an automation to make the shortcut work when it detects Apple Carplay? Also to revert back to hearing aids when there is no CarPlay, such as getting out of the car. Thanks for any assistance with this issue. Best regards, Malcolm
Hi Malcolm! In my experience, hearing aid devices specifically don't act like normal bluetooth headphones, and may be difficult to automate like this. But I'll look in to it for a future video and see what can be done!

Just to let you know, about the first shortcut, if your desire is to run an automation on certain specific days, you don't have to format the current day in the shortcut, you can do it in the automation window by choosing the "Weekly" and choosing the days there :)

1. Scraping a website like eBay or Amazon, to lookup a product, when it was last updated and the current price - also if it's lower than a certain amount, i.e. potentially on sale?
2. I have a business phone and always forgetting my number. Is there a shortcut to query Settings > Phone > My Number?
3. Is there a way to view the device's storage i.e. current size, in real number and percentage, to the total?

Thank you so much. For the automation, "Car Reminder," can we specify it to run on a certain date between a time range? Like on Sunday's between 4am-6am if CarPlay connects.
You can! It would just take two IF statements, one for the day and one for the time.
Shortcut request: Looking for a shortcut to download a utility bill (have to be logged in the provider’s website) that I am viewing in safari to specific folder from the sharesheet. For this, I created a shortcut but the outputted file has “the user is not authorized”. I execute the shortcut from the sharesheet in safari. Do you have shortcut that can do a download? I am aware that Save to Files is available in sharesheet (and it works) but we have to select the folder for each time.
How this man doesn’t have more subs, is beyond me. Awesome content as always. Keep up the great work. It’ll pay off one day!!

Request: for creating a shortcut that locks specific apps with a new password when the timer is activated. To access the apps, you'll need to enter the password. It would be even more convenient if you could use the same password to stop the timer.

Hi, I don’t know if it’s possible or not, but can you make a video on Screen Time Shortcut - which gives us an option of using Screen Time limits on say Instagram for 12 hrs a week and not a daily one. In this way if I use Instagram less on weekdays I can cover it on weekends.
@beardfm shortcut request :is there anyway we can control dynamic island using shortcuts. Since island use max usage of 1 or two apps live activity its not optimised its graphics and transition when another live activity of another come in play. For example i was wondering using shortcuts to freeze one app dynamic island usage when another app use its graphics. Anyway u could help me bro?

Do you need a text message? If not, you can send a notification. For instance, my shortcut notifies me at 75% charge.
I’m sure some of this may exist but haven’t been able to create this automation since moving away from Alexa. I have all HomePods now and would love to see an automation of based on a time of day say after 9:30pm if one of my (now matter compatible Switchbot door sensors open) have a particular HomePod let me know which door was opened and sent a notification to my phone/watch. Thx love all these shortcuts! Has taught me quite a bit and LOVE I can download them.
I have two requests, oh sage of shortcuts. First, when I get a work email (anything that comes into a specific email address) I need a persistent reminder that pings me every 10 minutes until I answer it. Second, i'm trying to figure out a less abrasive timer/alarm. Ideally the shortcut would automatically run for (X) minutes at which time it would play a custom sound and/or speak a phrase like, "OK boss that's been 10 minutes do you want more," and give me the option to either extend by (x) minutes or quit. I currently have it set up to automatically create several timers. For example, 5, 10, & 15 minutes. But as far as I can figure, you cannot set the timer alert tone via shortcut. So you get whatever the last tone was… which can be very annoying/distracting if I am concentrating on something.

In the shortcut where you set up the pick up the kids reminder for weekdays, why would EEEEE be recognised as weekdays? I mean is there a glossary that can be referred to understand things that can be used for setting up shortcuts? I would’ve never thought 5 Es would be recognised as days let alone weekdays.. unless I’m missing something super obvious..

You can’t really “lock” apps aside from just “locking” your screen. Like I showed when you open them the device just locks itself
Shortcut request - Turning on lights at set brightness at time of day with a twist - If I manually turn on light before or after the auto turn on I need the lights to stay at set brightness. I use Lutron light switch. Stephen Keep up the great work. Love your podcast as well. I like shortcut content.
So if you changed the brightness manually, at time of execution the shortcut should just stop, turn on the lamp but at that set brightness and next time it runs at a default value, or turn on lamp once at that brightness and then if it’s not a set value (say 100%) make it said value (100% example)? I have the noon off and I can help you with an integration. If you can just clarify exactly what you want

I have the Braided Solo Loop. Not good at all for sports. It gets wet and dries very slowly, and also gets dirty quickly. But as a day-to-day watch band for a more calm routine it’s awesome, crazy comfortable, you forget it’s on

@@LordRevan-jn4ks I mean it is kind of expensive, $99 is not cheap for a band. But the Sport Loop (which is a simpler version of the Trail Loop) is just as comfortable. I would get one only if you get this specific band in a color which you like or matches your watch and, of course, have $99 to spend on it.
Ok thanks I think I will skip the Braided Solo and will just continue using my Trail Loop that came with my Ultra 😃

I’m getting crazy with the notifications…. Even if I toggle off “notify when run”, it still shows the notification. Why? I can’t solve this! I have iOS 17.4.1

Can you make a shortcut where you can use a double click, triple click and a hold button for the action button?
And for every different click it does a different action?
I don't know if it is possible because I have a iPhone 14, but there is double and triple back tap as well as a check phone orientation action which can give you many options to do many different shortcuts.
The problem is I’m a case guy and when I tried to map it to do stuff it doesn’t register bcs for the phone to register to back tap it has to not have a case
That’s why I’m asking if there’s a way to double click or triple click or hold the action button to do different stuff
But I do like the idea of orientation for different actions
Unfortunately there are no multiple click options. You can program back taps for 2 and 3 taps in accessibility though!
Shortcut request- turn on background sound. But I want the first action to ask me for a time input as to when I want the sound to turn off. I can get them started but can’t figure out how to get the shortcut to recognize the time input and stop them.

Oh that’s good. So you want to run it and start an intermittent fasting time period, and then get a reminder when it’s over, correct? And are you wanting to add the entire fasting time to the calendar as an even or just when it’s over?

I'd like to integrate an intercom system to remind me to take my medication when the lights turn on due to the motion sensors. I hope this is more clear. Thanks for all you do

Shortcut request - iPhone automatically changes EQ based on what you are listening. (Eg. listening to music = late night or listening to podcast = spoken word)
