………came across Ottmar’s music in 1990. Fell in love with it, & attended every Concert he played here. Fabulous music, & ‘Snakecharmer’ is my fave track. Once I wrote to him requesting he play the ‘long version’, in concert here, if time permitted, & he did! I was tickled pink!
Excellent. I have known and loved Ottmar's music since 1994 and he was a HUGE hit in Italy that year with Nouveau Flamenco - played in discos everywhere. Pure magic.
Ottmar, we love you and know you from way back!!!! in Vegas.... God Bless you.... we still enjoy your CD's here in New Orleans..... Thanks for your music...
Thank you for the Video, Ottmar is a great song writer and also one of the few New Age Flamenco players that actually plays with proper technique. He is not a flashy player but he writes great melodies and knows how to sell Albums. Despite all the critics, you have to give the guy some credit for selling out large venues and appealing to a wide range of audience. To me he is like the Moby of Flamenco music.
His music doesn't need lyrics !! He's wonderful !I remember the very first time I saw and heard Ottmar on t.v....it was almost 40 years ago !!! I was just a little girl, no older han 9 years old and it was love at first sound for me !! Been listening ever since. And yes, he is 60 years old !! but looks very young. I love his music.
The best piece (for me) from "The Hours Between Night + Day." I've loved this song for over ten years, and I love the way it's played here. Rock on. :)
OMG someone answers after a year! :-) But really, since 1995, I've collected all of O.L. This was before UA-cam. Remember being over the top excited by finding some, for me, unknown CDs on holiday in Switzerland. Was like finding treasures. His music is timeless. Take care, Tippy! :-)
I love real flamenco , too, like Manitas de Plata, but I can also appreciate Ottmar's jazzy feel. That's the thing about music, there's something for everyone. It is also a great entrée to flamenco for those who don't know about it.
Discovered him in 1995 by a mix of "Havanna Club" on the radio in a car on the way to Athens (GR). We had to stop, get out of the car and dance!! Nice memory :-)
That wooden box is called "Cajon Peruano" (Peruvian Cajon, or Box). The "Cajon Peruano" was first used by the Afro Peruvian communities in Peru's Pacific coast, it was originally used, and it still is, as the main drum sound for all Afro-Peruvian music. It was then implemented by flamenco artists in Spain in the 1970's and used in most flamenco music, if not all, as their main drum sound to this day. There you go, you learn something new every day.
To Arrastro: There are many flavors of jazz, blues, rock and roll and flamenco music. Seems like you are out-numbered here. I also find Ottmar's music refreshing and upbeat - love to listen to him and have seen him perform live. He's pretty magical. Like others have said - if you no like then no listen!
I love ur comment tttttttttttttt!!!!!! U go girl friend, hi 5!! Saw him @ San Juan Capistrano & Saban theater same week! Just dig his Flamenco & electric guitars, also bass & drum. V had a blast!!!!! CA's fans dig OL&LLN. aussi!!!!!
Ottmar Liebert has been one of my favourite guitarists since the very early 90s when I first saw him (where I can not remember) anyone of his CDs is great background music for a romantic and erotic evening. Even go so far as to say it has Tantric qualities.
I think he's a great player. I could listen to him all day. Paco de Lucia is more than great. He's a phenomenon. But that doesn't take anything away from other fine players like Ottmar LIebert.
@hevster -All music genres go through evolutions in style and sound. Where would music be today without combining the musical influence of the past with today's artistic creativity? Liebert's style is called Nouveau Flamnco and you can't argue with 38 Gold & Platinum albums since 1990. He has done for Flamenco music what Carlos Vives has done for Vallenato music. The classic styles are still great but so is the new age. stop hating and start appreciating
I love this song, better yet, the videoclip is pretty good, with ottmar playing the song in the desert. I haven't found it in youtube, but I remember watching it in '93 in More Music channel. "Snakecharmer" is all about the laid back style of Ottmar, with fewer and clearer notes, not too fast like de Lucia, but exciting playing nevertheless.
Friday Night in San Francisco with Paco de Lucia, Al di Meola and John McLaughlin was great, but Paco alone is hard to digest. Don't deny his virtuosity, but... No matter what you call Ottmar'style, I can listen to his playing for hours. I have 3 CD's with him.
"Snakecharmer" , "Euphoria Nouveaumatic Album", you will turn to a "party Animal" I promiseeeeeeeeee! Greeting from California/ the county of Ottmar's fansssssssssss.
XD

I saw him at the Troy City Music Hall Troy NY. One of the best musical experiences for my wife and I.

This video is from the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour. They record that show in my city (Lexington, KY). I wish I had been there on this night!

This Guy is really fantastic! His music is pretty good!
Words can't describe sufficiently what his music does for me...can't seem to get enough. Superb!
