Today we are visiting a Greek Orthodox Monastery called Praetorium which is believed to be the place where Jesus' trial took place. It is also believed to be the place of the Prison of Jesus where he was held before his trial.
The Latin term praetorium means a Place of Judgment and its derived from Preatorian which means a Judge in ancient Rome.
The Greek monastery that we are visiting today was built during the 18th century and it is located along the beginning of the Via Dolorosa right after the Notre Dame de Zion Convent which contains the "Ecce Homo" arch ("Behold the Man") and before station number 3 of the Via Dolorosa where Jesus falls for the 1st time.
Now let's enter and visit the Prison where Jesus was held prior to his trial.
When we get down the first staircase we enter a small beautiful Orthodox Greek Church.
Before we get to see the prison of Jesus, let's get down these stairs to see Prison Cells were prisoners were held and tortured by the Roman probably before putting up to trial.
Over there is a carved bench where prisoners were held while their hands tied with iron shackles to the wall behind them. Close your eyes and I am sure you could imagine that! If we look closer we can see the dints where the iron shackles were tied to the wall.
Now let's see the prison cell, believed to be the place where the 2 thief that were crucified along Jesus and Barabbas were also held.
Now for the highlight of this place, the prison cell where Jesus was held. This cell is located right above, at the same level of the church.
Here is the entrance that leads to an isolated cell where it is believed to be the cell where Jesus was held. Just imagine Jesus spending the night inside this dark, cold and solitary cell, knowing what he is expecting the morning after. This is an excellent place to meditate on Jesus suffering.

Jesus had no "trial", it was an interrogation.

the cells would have been dank and dark--not well lit like today and no religious artifacts...the first cell shown was really just a hole in the floor...prisoners would have been chained and it would have been impossible to see others, you would hear and smell them, instead of see them...not a pleasant place to be...dts/usa

    Two Simple Questions:
Why did the Jewish Priests pay Judas to identify Jesus (Yeshua) when they as well as most everyone else knew who Jesus was and what He looked like? When the arrest party arrived, was it not Jesus who pointed out this very fact: "Jesus said to them, 'Have you come with swords and clubs to arrest me like you would an outlaw? DAY AFTER DAY I WAS WITH YOU, teaching in the temple courts, yet you did not arrest me.'" (Mark 14:48-49, Matt 26:55, Luke 22:53)? Jesus KNEW them... and, more importantly, they KNEW Him. Judas wasn't needed at all.
So... what's really going on here?!
Why was Peter warming himself by the fire outside Caiaphas' residence SITTING WITH THE GUARDS (Mark 14:54, Matt 26:58, Luke 22:55), the same guards who had just arrested Jesus ... and from whom Peter had fled in terror after assaulting one of the arrest party with a sword? And the obvious follow-up question: When recognized repeatedly, why didn't Peter flee the area... and why didn't the guards immediately arrest him on the spot?!
So... what's really going on here?!
Once you finally take the time to figure out the glaring answers to these two simple questions... the truth behind Jesus's REAL betrayal and His own "apostles'" full complicity in it becomes crystal clear.

    1 Maccabees 3:48
“And laid open the book of the law, wherein the heathen had sought to paint the likeness of their images.”
    King James Version (KJV)

I just read 1 Maccabees 3:48 in context. Mine says "They opened the book of the law to look into those matters about which the Gentiles consulted the likeness of their idols." In context, this is an event that already happened. It's not a prediction. It's the Jerusalem Jews upset with a specific group of Gentiles in Mizpah. These Gentiles historically consulted specific idols (false Gods) (referenced in the verse). So this verse is specifically Jews worried about a war brewing with people in Mizpah and should not be taken out of context to support a 17th century Brittish puritan idea that flourished in the "New World".

Sunny Sky. His hair was WHITE like wool. It never talked about texture, just the color. Also, it said His FEET were like burnt brass. It's symbolism.. not literal. Maybe you should open your bible

Bold as Lions you also forget Israel is north east Africa and that most of these stories are taken from African folklore facts.

    • @boldaslions9197
      @boldaslions9197 7 років тому +3

Sunny Sky. No they aren't. Jesus is an Israelite from the Tribe of Judah. Not white and not black. In fact, the Beni Hasan tomb painting from 1900's BC depict Abraham and the Hebrews as having straight long black hair and light brownish yellow skin..... so He would've looked like a Mizrahi Jew.
