Thank you for this talk. You are a very articulate presenter. Make sure your (residence?) insurance policy covers theft of your PEV. I register all my bikes and PEVs with Project 529 aka 529 Garage. Registration won't prevent theft but might slightly increase the probability of recovery, and it is free. The database now includes fields for e.g. battery serial number and other PEV-specific data items. Having these data items recorded can facilitate filing a police theft report and an insurance claim should the unthinkable occur. One can and perhaps should hide an Apple Air Tag or Tile somewhere under the housing.
Good to have you back man! I’m in the same boat, my gym is 3 miles away and I want to take my wheel instead of drive but I don’t feel comfortable leaving my v13 outside. Bike thief is high in my area and I agree that the likely hood of someone taking my Euc would be a non rider. Because my wheel just looks expensive I’d rather not it risk leaving it outside. Hopefully my gym lets me park it behind the counter. Keep the videos coming 💪🏾
You made some good points. Parking your EUC where it's busy, makes it harder to be stolen. I'm glad you're making content again. Your tutorials and tips videos helped me learn how to ride an EUC and also made me a better rider. Thank you. It would be great to see you and Sensei get together for a live chat sometime.
EUCs/OW are the only vehicles that are widely accepted indoors. I almost never put it outside, and I've honestly never even been denied while riding in NJ/NYC area since 2016. The issue is that YOU regularly commute on a 80-110+ lb. category wheel, meaning YOU need to be familiar with where you're going beforehand (will there be space?). All wheels have negatives, and being less friendly indoors are theirs'. Even my lynx is pushing the boundary for restaurants/bars, and I'm often sitting by the door, so I'll probably be getting a falcon or mten4 as a secondary. Apart from the performance, my old s22 was almost perfectly sized, but this dilemma is why the community clamors for >50 lb wheels. I don't see a need or even advise leaving $3000+ sitting outside, because theft in big cities will always exist. Let the E-bikers/E-scooter/group riders worry about it. The only other thing we need is KS/IM theft prevention features as standard, which will come with time. rotational lock/disengaged, and rotational movement alarms.
I could see suspension wheels adding a feature to lock it in its compressed state to improve their bulk dynamics greatly. Flip a lock that ratchets further everytime you bunny hop it. With that, my lynx would have a smaller profile then the s22.
Good to see you making videos again. I don't like the wider point this raises though ! The main advantage our wheels give us over nearly everything else is that we can usually take them everywhere with us, and it seriously limits their usefulness if more and more places start not allowing them indoors, even powered off.
Good points. By the way, pidzoom is selling some finger horns (of various decibles, the louder the better) that can act as alarm systems if your wheel is tampered with. I use it when I'm parking my wheel somewhere dodgy. Couple that with the kryptonite bike lock and it'll be perfect.
Hey U-Stride. A guy used to ride his small EUC past the gym's front desk and into the locker room! I could also bring it into my office. Since these bans, I haven't bothered riding nor upgrading. I see a V11 parked outside near my office almost daily. My issue is not only theft but dog pee. I'd need a cover, alarm with a notification app and a lock. At that point I might as well ride the bus.
I only ride my two wheel combustion vehicle on weekends and to safe areas where I can park in front of the buildings or just ride without stopping. I don't want criminals to steal it, but if it happens, I hope to get reimbursement back from insurance like they gave me on my last two wheel combustion. I think if the wheel was small like the mten4, or the new begode falcon. I would put it in a backpack if those institutions won't let me handle bar wheel in. I want to get the Bedode Falcon cuz it's small and I want to ride up and down the beach boardwalk. I want that wheel as a emergency wheel if my two wheeled combustion breaks down. I like motorsickles and euc.
whoa good to see you back! that "ex30 portability and why gotway is still king" video made an impression and i occasionally wonder what you may be up to
Hey bro, this is really off subject, but I’m having issues getting my E X thirty past forty miles an hour. I’m doing everything I just set my tilt my ankle tilt forward all the way so now my acceleration is better but it seems like once I get to that 40 mile an hour, mark is so hard to push past it. Can you please please give me some insight brother
@@UStride got it up to like 48 but it’s hard to push it past 40. It’s weird and I got the grizzly pad set up or I’m sorry the grizzle fairing and the Clark bio pad set up.
@indianaeuc7617 makes sense. I've had that experience before. Keep in mind that the more you move up in speed, the more challenging it will be, mostly due to physics, but also your technique as well. Once you consistently start hitting speeds between 40 to 45mph, higher end speeds will be easier to achieve because of your new technique. My suggestion is to not think about reaching high speeds too much and focus more on your technique. Riding up to 35 mph employs a very different approach than 40+. So, focus more on technique and ride settings. You will get there. PS. If you know how to ride seated, try that also in the meantime while you work on your technique for standing. It's a lot easier to achieve high speeds while seated due to the low center of balance and less wind resistance. Also, very little technique is required since all you have to do is lean forward. Try it in a less congested area
IDK man, not to bring up old news but there may be a certain group of riders from a certain region that might want to separate that ex30 from you still given the chance. Stay vigilant!
Inmotion has a lockout from the app but the caveat is that you have to have the phone in range of it to turn it on or off. Would be great if it had a cellular signal like a Tesla.
@@UStride 3d printed spacer on either side of your rim, makes it the same width as the masters rim, giving the michelin pilot street 2 or any other tire youre using a more rounded profile that makes the EX30 want to lean over more in turns instead of fight you. Had it on mine, way better than the standard width. Cheap and easy to print and super easy to fit. just deflate tire, push in the spacers, connec them and reinflate the tire. Also makes it easier to centre the tire as it sort of acts like a bead seat.
There are no good answers to the dual issue of avoiding theft and getting refusals to accommodate the wheel. You need a small wheel you can conceal in a backpack in order to bring it inside away from whatever managers who don't want it on their premises. I'm not saying this is a good thing to do, it is just about the only thing you can do. A major part of the problem is the battery tech itself which is now being widely seen as a significant safety hazard.
Similar situation as you, so I am also brainstorming ways to keep my wheel safe. Have you thought about a ring doorbell or something similar? They have motion detection, and you can get a live feed video if on wifi. my thought is that this could perform better than an alarm, as you could get notifications right to your phone. i still do not feel comfortable just leaving my euc around, because people can just pick up its 60 pounds and walk away
@@UStride The market could have someone design a camera that motion detects with the camera, but also with motion. my thought is that others would purchase this. One notification of someone moving your euc, and you're likely to be back outside before they can get the chain off and ride away
in the san Francisco bay area, there is a bike storage system called bikelink. it costs 5 cents an hour to store so basically free and each bike locker is separate so only you have access to it and no one else. the locker is covered so it even protects from rain.
