  • Many subscribers have asked how I reduce the RPMs from the motor to achieve the desired beats per minute on my homemade power hammer . This video hopes to answer that question.

    Instead of using reduction gearing most just put a big pulley on the shaft with their cam to have a less complicated solution. I've done a lot of homework and looked at several plans on how I'm going to build my own. This is definitely effective but not the least expensive.

    Do you find the current 80 blows per minute manageable? - sounds like a lot to my uninitiated mind.!

      For me it's just right but on the slow side compared to other power hammers. At 80 beats per minute, I have enough time to move/rotate my work inbetween hammer blows yet it is fast enough to move a material amount of metal for each heat. Thanks for your question and hope that helps.
