I am 45yrs old I've never watched WNBA All I knew about Sheryl Swoopes is she was some crazy lady that talk trash. They are trying to make it a Magic versus Bird thing. Problem is that those players vastly improved both their teams. Reese will never be able to do that. She is too small for a power forward and doesn't shoot well from outside for a small forward. She's also too selfish to pass. She is supposedly good on defense but not when guarding a top player. She could have taken the break to work on her game but didn't. She might not take the off-season then to get better. Clark added a floating runner shot to her game so that she can drive but not have to challenge the trees at the rim. Clark's defense also looks to be improving. I could see her working out with some of her teammates during the lengthy off-season and they all getting better. Reese will try to "model".

It's a racist position to take. She's terrible. She can't shoot and is 104th in WNBA FG% (38.5%) despite over 50% of her shots being 3' or less. On her team she is 13th in FG%. Her three point shooting is an abysmal 17%. They play her 25% more minutes than the best players on the team so she can pad her stats for RoY. Consequently the Sky, because Reese can't score or pass, are losing games they could win. Clark is better than Reese in every imaginable stat but rebounds and has taken the Fever into playoff contention while Reese, because of her coach's stat-padding plan, has taken the Sky out of it.

In both cases their reasoning was based on a time when Reese was not on her streak she was not contributing to wins. You could plug in any other forward and get better results, while Clark was already smashing records. She was top 20 in all stats while Reese was second in rebounds and top 20 in steals.
At the same time Reese was racking most shots blocked. What was killing CC +-1 was her turnovers caused by her teammates not handling her passes. they were using stats as the bases for their reasoning. Anyone that watched the games used the Eye Ball test. What is even more ridiculous even when Clark was at her worst she was putting up great rookie numbers for any other year. If you think rebounds are as important as Assist. Adding Reese's and Clark's Assist and rebound per game. Clark was averaging 5 and 6 while Reese was 7 and 2 early in the season.

The WNBA front office is negligent. They should all be replaced. Adam Silver should use his power to make the front office deal with the thuggery of the few players and coaches or just stop the NBA funding which would be a death blow to the WNBA. I am a new viewer of this league but I’ve played and watched basketball for most of my 72 years. The recent Fever vs Wings game was great basketball by both teams. It was beautiful to watch and a shame either team had to loose. But I am a CC fan. There was good hard play but no thuggery. Clark gets a technical for punching the padding under the basket because she is upset with herself. But a blindsiding tackle or a trip late in the game are called but the players should have been removed from the game and the league office should have rained on their parade. They will eventually seriously hurt Clark if this thuggery is not dealt with. The moving pick with a shoulder strike in the Connecticut game is something we practiced in the Dojo, it was not a legitimate basketball play. Thomas played for Central Dauphin Hs in the Mid Penn which is the league I have coached in and my sons played in. I have nothing personal against Thomas but that was just a cheap brutal blow met to extremely hurt Clark.
Hard play and hard fouls don't bother me. It's the lack of accountability when an obviously dirty play is committed. Start fining and suspending the players.

As an non-black, non-white, non-American outsider looking in, This seems about race first and foremost. Any other reason is secondary or is given as a way to distract from the racism. If CC was black, there would absolutely not be any issue. She'd probably be held in the same regard as Rookie LeBron or Rookie Wemby. Angel would be an afterthought.
I see this pattern coming up in ESPN over the last few years especially. If a player--regardless of sex--is not black and especially if they are also not American, ESPN "Analysts" automatically downplay them. Examples are Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, even black non-Americans like Giannis Antetokounmpo are downplayed. CC is white so she gets a lot of hate. She's lucky she is American so she has a lot of people coming to her defense as well.
