Welcome back to our cottage garden. It’s time for our July garden tour. Have a look at our summer flowering plants including lavender, roses and geraniums. One of our ducks (Coco) is sadly not very well, but she is managing ok and still enjoying her outings in the garden. The tomato and courgette plants are picking up now and the polytunnel is full of life. We hope you enjoy having a look around. This video is sponsored by Skillshare.

I appreciate that you show the places that are imperfect in your garden. It's great to see someone keeping it real online.
Authenticity is hard to find, especially online so it's nice to see it😊
5:36 Before your lavender flowers deteriorate, cut them, dry them and stuff them into your pillow that you sleep on at night. You probably already know these things, perhaps I am commenting more for your readers than for yourself.☺☺ Going to sleep on a cloud of lavender is really, really nice, especially in the deep, dark winter. 9:14 Asters and chrysanthemums are GREATLY appreciated when winter is close at hand and they are still blooming. I drag my huge Fiji mum plant indoors every winter, it is taller than I am, and the blossoms stay on all winter until March, then the entire plant dies down and begins a new in May.. 14:15 You clematis is a lovely, lovely shade of pale amethyst. 16:45 As I take our bulldog for his 1 1/2 hour walk, I am on the phone looking for the best hollyhocks to start from seeds right now for blooms next summer. I have already a week ago planted four types of pinks so that I shall have their strong clove scent next springtime. My first, foremost love in the flower garden is fragrance, I want a cloud of fragrance around the house as much as possible. Tulips are one of the few exceptions that I make to fragrance because their stained glass colors look when back lit with sunshine, especially after a long, dark winter is very emotionally uplifting. 19:59 Tomatoes will pollinate just simply by being agitated, when lighting is just right, we can see the pollen dust fall out when agitated. I suppose that bumble bees improve things, bu my 50 years experience gardening, just simply winf agitation and beeing bumped will pollinate them. Thank you for the show and tell from your far distant shores!

I live in South Africa and it's winter here right now and I'm busy establishing a new cottage style garden, thank you for your inspirational channel!
Ditto to coming from south africa❤
I’m in Texas and the weather here is surprisingly good for this time of year and the garden is greener than any summer in recent memory. Your garden is so lovely and I absolutely love those green gardening boots.
Definitely earily quiet on the bee front and few butterflies being seen, one Red Admiral on my buddleia. Loosestrife easy to pull as roots run along the top of the soil. Some great ideas for planting areas.
Love how you consider the wildlife so much in your garden! Thanks for sharing
Wonderful garden, very inspiring. I like the fencing. Is it made with willow branches?
Yes same here in Lancashire, a definite lack of bees and butterflies on our buddleia and lavender this year for sure.
Also from Lancashire, and yep exactly the same. hardly any bees and butterflies. Some hoverflies but nowhere near as many as last year.
Oh poor Coco; I hope she’s okay. Your garden is looking lovely as always. The yew hedges are going to make a perfect frame for your little piece of paradise.
You have a very lovely and peaceful garden. Thank you, from the southern US state North Carolina.
i love your garden, its look so fresh. love from Malaysia.
I could watch your garden vlogs all day long! It's just started to rain here in Dorset. It's sad not seeing so many bees and butterflies this year. Last year we had two bumble bee nests, something that we've never had before, they were just magical to watch. I've had lots of strawberries (so have the birds) and small variety tomatoes in the last week. The bigger varieties have yet to ripen, let's hope for some consistent sunshine at some point! Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden Mona. Sending love to Coco. 🦆❤x
I live in Western Australia, and I'm kind of jealous of the rain you get where you are! Not so jealous of the slugs haha
Lovely garden, and you frame yourself so nicely in each scene. The scene of the duck popping in and out the screen was so charming! Very distressing, however, to see the lack of butterflies and other pollinators. You have done more than your fair share to enhance their habitat.
Hope Coco gets Better soon!I too have three ducks and know what intelligent creatures they are.. they keep guard Just like dogs...Ducks are tougher than they seem too!!
I live in California where the weather is great, and I too noticed a shocking low number of pollinators this year. Hope your duck heals and no further duck problems!
Lovely garden and thanks for the tour! I planted yellow loosestrife two years ago and regret it (zone 6B here) - it is nice for the pollinators but it spreads by roots and is taking over! Just keep an eye on it.... Mine went from about two stalks to 40+ in two years.
Congratulations on breaking through the 100,000 ceiling! 🎉
Your garden is the most beautiful I've seen. I am living in a flat now, but I would love to have a garden like yours one day! How many hours do you work in the garden?
Beautiful garden! 👍❤️🌳
I have a garden designer friend who has her own beautiful nature garden near Bath . She is also a Beekeeper.
She has just posted about the lack of insects in her garden , it’s worrying .
Wow everything about this is so lovely 🥹
I love the ducks! They follow you around like dogs! Your garden is beautiful. I have been watching since the beginning when you 1st started the garden. Well it is so lovely! Thank you for sharing and have a blessed week ahead.
So cosy and beautiful garden! Thanks for sharing!
100k!!!!!!! Gratz!!!
I’m really enjoying your UA-cam videos! My wife and I recently bought a house and plan to plant a cottage garden. Your garden is awesome and my primary inspiration. If you find the time and think it’d be valuable to other viewers, I’d really be interested in a video going over the structures in your garden (e.g., trellises, edging, screening wall) and how they were built. I enjoy how naturally your built structures add to the cottage garden vibe as a whole. Keep up the awesome work and thanks for the wonderful content!
What a lovely garden; thanks for sharing. Here in Vancouver, I have not seen a single butterfly in my garden, other than a few cabbage moths. It’s very concerning!
Sending love to Coco. We've had a tough chicken season as well- worms, one death (tragic heart attack while we were treating her), and one prolonged bout of cytopenia (very scary, thankful to the university for figuring out it was a side affect of the worm medication.) We're in North Carolina, NC, so trying to keep the hens cool.
Regarding the lack of bees this year, it is worth watching a recent video by Dave Goulson who shares his expert knowledge on what is happening with the insects.
Fellow UK gardener, up until maybe the last week or so have seen mayhaps a single bee in the garden at a time. In the last week, however, we’ve seen an increase in buff tails, red tails, tree bumblebees and honeybees (the latter coming from a neighbours garden). Sadly, we’ve only seen one butterfly in the garden - pretty sure it’s the same one over and over - that being a small white. No ladybirds seen all year either
Thanks for the garden tour,
Your new border looks so established already. I grow yellow loosestrife in my cottage garden in Wales. I think it's beautiful and easy to dig out if you decide there is too much of it. Actually my sneezewort is more of a problem re taking over the borders. Sending healing thoughts to little Coco x
same here @monalogue in west germany we had less butterflies and bees on flowers and lavenders. Last year 2023 in the summer month we had also rainy summer days - like this years - but the Autum days September and October been dry.
Anyways last year quite more butterflies and bees.
Showing the good and still pending work in the garden is a good thing.
Lovely day in the garden, thank you for sharing such a wonderful gift.
My French garden also lacks pollinators. It's terrifying. It has to do with climate change but also the use of pesticides that kills so many insects...
Excellent video 👏big fan of your channel 👍you’re a great gardener 🪴
You soo deserv lots and lots of people following you! ❤️ I have followed you for a while now and just loove your videos! Everything is gorgeous! 👌The house, the garden, the ducks and you! I will hold my thumbs as we say here in Sweden for good luck for Coco! 💕
You and your garden is so preety😊
My Belgian garden also lacks pollinators. I even added some more lavender and buddleja to attrackt more, but so far no luck. Heartbreaking, really...
I had a lot on my geranium rozanne and Phacelia
Hi, LOVE your beautiful cottage garden! The lavender looks glorious 💜, I hope your duck gets well soon bless, just subscribed, looking forward to more content , everything looks gorgeous you have a lovely home 🏡 xxx
I loved the video, very soothing. Thank you for making it ❤ 🌿
Love your little duckies ❤
I love the ducks so much! I live in San Diego, California its so interesting to see what gardens look like in July all over the world
The lack of insects is something I've noticed aswell.
I love your Garden I’m from Brighton East Sussex
Be careful with ducks free-ranging in your garden. Ours do the same but two died after eating the buds of wisteria.
I’m a recent new viewer and I am from Indiana in the States. I’ve been wanting to get into gardening and leaning about it that way when I am able to move into a house I can hit the ground running! I absolutely adore your videos and I love how they are both visually beautiful as well as educational 😁
Hi from NZ…..we’re in Winter here and like you, I also have a cottage garden. There seems to be a good many number of honey and bumble bees as well as other beneficial insects still here in NZ. Hope your weather and numbers improve.
I have noticed less and less bumble bees and hardly no butterfly’s the last couple of years. I’m in the very south of New Zealand. Hopefully this coming summer there might be more.
I notice lack of ladybugs this year. I see zero friendy red bugs. Luckly a lot of spiders.
oh, I didn't know, that wisteria is a host plant for caterpillars. Could you please check which moth? Thank you in advance!
From India….. loved it🥺🥺🥺🥺
I've had far too much hassle keeping yellow loosestrife under control to leave even a small clump growing here, young plants are easy to remove but older ones become tougher, they spread rapidly. My personal recommendation is to replace with something better behaved or the following seasons you'll be finding it everywhere, that said, it does look nice in flower.
❤ your videos 🌷
Noticed your over 100 yar hoo.
مسيرة مزفقة🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Perfect video 🌍☀️🌙
You should read " The secret garden " it's a damn lovely novel
My mom and I also noticed that there are barely any bee's and butterflies. There are some, but not nearly as many as the beginning of this year. (The crocus at the beginning usually lure so many in) It's so sad. And with all the insects we usually have lots of birds and other wildlife, but not anymore and I live on the border of a massive forest. Super concerning.
Chicago il - We normally have a nice amount of bumbles and honey bees but not this year - it's very odd! I have only had two butterflies.
Western Canada has been lacking bees and butterflies too.
*❤❤❤good video 🎉🎉🎉*

Iceberg rose when I bought the house has never been any good, so I dug it up in July2024, cut it back to 2 30cm long stems & put it in a pot with John innes no 3 + Toprose and it has just started to sprout so fingers crossed.
So beautiful....i am your new subscriber madam❤❤❤and you have just so and so beautiful vibes❤❤
I've been seeing more pollinators this year and a variety of bugs since i have added native plants/host plants. Please consider adding some. So sorry about Cocoa. Wish you all well.
Cute ducks. Are they Indian Runners?
Hi Mona, Love your garden and channel, keep up the good work! I just wanted to let you know that here in western Denmark we have seen a huge decline in pollinators as well. We have just like you been affected by huge amounts of rain this year, and we do think the decline is because of that.
It s not it s in a lot more places and going on for years
Where did you get your poly tunnel from please- this is my next project
Which County you are ?
Figs ripen that early in the UK? Here in France, I think there are a few weeks to go. Are you the presenter who sometimes dresses in old fashion gowns?
Give Coco some Lugol’s iodine .
I wish there wasn't any music in it
❤😊x.
All looks lovely! Sorry you have on-going duck problems. Maybe you could find a natural medicine? 🙏
You have such a beautiful 😍
I was attracted to u now I'm not . Beautiful Make sure to remember any lies u have ever told and to provide food for the poor as a food servant and do it in person . Also reverse all lies ever told lieing is bad
