Needs actuator vertical. Cage around it should be good go. For extreme riding would be very helpful. Can’t wait for you to put it thru the ringer! You just keep on setting the bar!
That rear steer looks very cool, they should find a way to mount the power unit vertically. I have wondered why some of the crawlers haven't done that by now.
Interesting idea, i’m trying to decide if it’s just cool or if it would be useful. Depends on your situation i think, i like it. Bummed i didn’t win the giveaway, will try again next time. Love y’all have a great day.
Neat concept. Hopefully the actuator holds up to the abuse. I’d definitely be worried about dropping off a ledge and it hitting. Something hanging that far off the back really kills the departure angle
There are off the shelf modules that can control the position of the linear actuator. I use pretty much this exact setup with a linear actuator with feedback for a steering duties on a drive by wire setup. The Module can control LA position as a function of the steering wheel angle via coupled potentiometer, as well as reverse feedback if crab walking is desirable. It would essentially be invisible, self centering, on/off, reverse feedback. Be careful actuating that LA when sitting still, doesn't look rated for full static loading even on a hard flat surface, only dynamic so the tire doesn't have to take full scrub loading.
That can be a game changer. Just needs a bit more r&d. The actuator needs to be rethought adding in linkages to reorintate so it can be mounted inside the cars caged area better. Besides that the concept is legit..
FYI something I just learned recently is that "Heim" is basically the original brand of Rod End. I know pretty much everybody calls them Heim joints when there actually called rod ends including me but thought you might like to know. I don't care what you call them i just like learning little things like that so i thought i would pass it along.
rear steer thoughts switch uses prime real estate that is probably already occupied, sure be nice if the motor was repositioned, not sure I am interested because of the lack of articulation and having to remove my new high clearance arms . but love video and thanks as always
Departure angle is what i see as an issue! Time for custom skid plate. Lol would be great tool to have on a max. Considering they have the wheel base of a suburban!
Pretty easy for a basic installation. Would be cool to have a custom knuckle for more angle, even if it pushes the width a little bit further out, would be worth the steering angle. At least now you can make up for lost turning from running a spool up front....maybe even in the snow, which is my biggest reservation of losing the billet Halo and going Smart Spool. Keep it up!
Very nice rear steering just wondering how long before it gets hit on a rock or something like that. I was thinking how it will do if it's under water and you use it? Maybe they could come up with a way to give it some more steering because it's nice but I was thinking it would be like the front steering, and I know it will be more on the cost but you could make like different levels of what they want. Just a Lil food for thought and THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT VIDEOS AND KEEP THEM COMING
I've heard SUPER ATV is coming out with a kit soon... Tell whoever gave it to you to move fast. I'm worried about the bushings wearing out kinda quick... but very cool.
Just reading some of the comments you couldn't go any farther it would be hitting if it moves just a inch or two it would be a big difference on the trails you guys ride i actually seen a lot wear you had a back tire piched that will work great just my opinion
Another great video. However, IMHO, a totally unnecessary function and another component subject to damage and failure. We''ll see how it pans out in futrure videos.
Have you done a circle with and without what the difference is? Cool setup I think it needs some sort of plate in the back to protect it from backing into something and protecting the wire
I am curious how or if there will be any issues with going down to 4 bolts on the pull plate. Like you said they are known to wallow out the frame with 6 bolts now you are down 2 more. Just a thought though. Also yeah I can absolutely see the actuator getting knocked off even if just backing into a tree.
Juat my opinion, but I don’t think there is enough steering angle to make it a necessity even in the tighter stuff. As shallow as the angle is, you'd have to have quite a run up to make a difference.
There actually is. We’ve used it in the woods already and it makes a pretty big difference. You can see in the video how much it crab walks when just driving straight. It might not be a necessity but it’s works amazing in certain situations. Just like anything else though. A halo 30 or smart spool isn’t a necessity just depends on how you want to use your machine haha.
Honestly that is the only thing I could think of myself after having it installed and running it. We have a weekend of riding in some pretty series rocks and nothing came close to touching it so time will tell but I can definitely see your point.
Great idea, but that entire unit is gonna get ripped off or get severely damaged hanging way out like that. I also don't think you get enough movement to make any real difference.
It does move enough to make a difference and we just did some pretty serious rock crawling and it was ok. Time will tell how well it does but so far so good
The pellet stove came from lowes, it was on sale and was like 1200.00 I think. It does amazing. Highly recommend a pellet stove. Cheap to run, efficient, wood heat is a comfortable heat too.
Congratulations Darrin. We can’t wait to build you an awesome cage!!
Thank you guys so much! I’m happier than a pig in mud! I’m so excited!
Needs actuator vertical. Cage around it should be good go. For extreme riding would be very helpful. Can’t wait for you to put it thru the ringer! You just keep on setting the bar!
👊🏻👊🏻
What!!! That’s crazy congrats to the cage winner 🤗
That rear steer looks very cool, they should find a way to mount the power unit vertically. I have wondered why some of the crawlers haven't done that by now.
Look into NSR rear steer kits been out for a few years now
I like the rear steer concept. Maybe a Paddle shift type switch instead of a dash mount so you can maneuver while steering?
Great idea! This would be a great improvement for my Max RS turbo RR! Can’t wait to see how it performs.
Interesting idea, i’m trying to decide if it’s just cool or if it would be useful. Depends on your situation i think, i like it.
Bummed i didn’t win the giveaway, will try again next time.
Love y’all have a great day.
We appreciate your support 🤙🏻👊🏻
Definitely need self centering and a gauge indicator. Also needs more protection and a better switch. I’d pay more for that!
Neat concept. Hopefully the actuator holds up to the abuse. I’d definitely be worried about dropping off a ledge and it hitting. Something hanging that far off the back really kills the departure angle
The back tires should help protect from dropping off even ledges. I would be worried about a rock that juts out in between the tires for sure.
@@RZRMINERBDR could have just been the angle but looks like it hangs out passed the rear tires
@misfitssxs it’s actually about 1 inch in from the end of my tires. I only know this cuz I backed up into sheri our last ride and it didn’t hit lol
Use hearing protection along with eye protection. As a general rule if its to loud to talk over you need hearing protection.
Love the cage build giveaway! Keep doing it!
That's awesome hopefully the rear steer hits the market soon, would be worth the upgrade for sure!!
Congratulations to that winner.

Pretty cool setup! Just missing a mini skid/bash plate or like a half shell for jeep diffs in the rocks.

That’s pretty slick 👍. be great for KRX because the turning radius is not great. Congrats to the cage winner 🏆
I'm sold and haven't even finished the video yet! Self centering would be even better! You should shoot a video comparing turning radius.
Rear steer is awesome 👌
it could be enough to help i guess. ready to hear your input from a real test
rear steer thoughts

motor was repositioned,
not sure I am interested because of the lack of articulation and having to remove my new high clearance arms .
but love video and thanks as always
Amazing work of the rear steering! If you could do unlocking rear diff with diff lock option, will be best combination.
Departure angle is what i see as an issue! Time for custom skid plate. Lol would be great tool to have on a max. Considering they have the wheel base of a suburban!
That's an awesome concept , I run big tires , and deep snow ,duno if it would work for my application
Keep it up!
The steering is no different from a halo locked in to a smart spool. You do lose 3 wheel drive but we don’t need that where we’re going anyway hahaha
I think it will work good on the tight trails
That's pretty neat that could come in handy but I would concerned to hit off the ground or on rock or something
Very nice rear steering just wondering how long before it gets hit on a rock or something like that. I was thinking how it will do if it's under water and you use it? See you June 8th
Awesome. Can’t wait

Well it’s not a bouncer rear steer turn radius but it just might help you in hillclimbing.
Another great video. However, IMHO, a totally unnecessary function and another component subject to damage and failure. We''ll see how it pans out in futrure videos.
That’s cool as hell! I wanted to see you do a tight turn or two or compare a turning radius with and without using the rear steer.
Have you done a circle with and without what the difference is? Cool setup I think it needs some sort of plate in the back to protect it from backing into something and protecting the wire
We haven’t done a circle with it yet. More testing to come in the future though so we will for sure.
I’m excited to see what it can do but wish it would actually turn more and that would make it worth $1500.
Love it
I am curious how or if there will be any issues with going down to 4 bolts on the pull plate. Like you said they are known to wallow out the frame with 6 bolts now you are down 2 more. Just a thought though. Also yeah I can absolutely see the actuator getting knocked off even if just backing into a tree.
We will definitely find out haha

Great video yall 💯 👍😎
Can't see not redesigning the bracket to rotate the linear actuator vertical.
Honestly that is the only thing I could think of myself after having it installed and running it. We have a weekend of riding in some pretty series rocks and nothing came close to touching it so time will tell but I can definitely see your point.
Hope that works. Would that also work on a 2022 zforce 950 ho sport?? I been trying to find one for it.
As of right now it’s just for can ams.
Interested
I want a kit for a 20 x3 Rc with the rear self center
Great idea, but that entire unit is gonna get ripped off or get severely damaged hanging way out like that. I also don't think you get enough movement to make any real difference.
It does move enough to make a difference and we just did some pretty serious rock crawling and it was ok. Time will tell how well it does but so far so good
I love the idea, now someone needs to design rear hubs that will allow for more range of motion 👌
Should cut a pretty tight donut now
Great Video. I’d get in trouble with that. Where did you get that heater and are they expensive
The pellet stove came from lowes, it was on sale and was like 1200.00 I think. It does amazing. Highly recommend a pellet stove. Cheap to run, efficient, wood heat is a comfortable heat too.
Hows this going to be for rear tire ware?
I really don’t think it’s going to wear tires any different than the front tires.
What stereo is that because I can’t hardly hear crap with mine.
It’s a ecoxgear. It is amazing. We did a review on it last year.
Really wish you guys had some better lighting on your video equipment. Can't really see what your trying to show us sometimes
Wasn’t to impressed with rear steer, needs a little more turn there, congrats on cage winner
But was still a very knowledgeable video👍 , great job
Over achievers
We do what we can haha.
I just want mine to stop squeaking and you got rear steering
