The theory i have is that the Angler is actually a 4 dimentional being, and the face is part of the true body being projected into our world, cause the illusion of a 2 dimentional presence instead of 3
I dont know why they chose to make it canon that anglers face always faces the observer. Wouldn't it be more logical if in lore the angler is 3d and stuff while its 2d in game?

If the face had physical form then it wouldn't be possible for it to be observed the same way from all angles because a physical form has 3 dimensions and in the face we only observe 2. The fact that they made it bite you for cool jumpscare effect is boring yeah but it's most likely the truth, maybe the angler actually bites you before taking all your neuron signals but whatever. (also if the angler can be stopped by solid objects why does he phase through the doors when rushing through)
