It's good for the price but you're really taking a gamble with most eBay turbo kit , I have a 2003 e46 bmw ordered a turbo kit for my m54 it came and the wheel didn't even move 😀 so had to suck it up and bought another turbo.

i run mine kinda the same atm till i wire in this mega squirt i decapped my stock injectors aem inline 450 lph pump 8an to the rail 60 psi fuel pressure i run like 14 lbs and get like 11 afrs but also im not on stock block or piston and tomei headgasket cause sideways fam

Your 98 sc400 has a 4 speed auto and is slow af. I owned one. They're painfully slow and the 0-60 is pitiful. My 5 speed is300 is way faster even non boosted.
@@TheJschafer89 u dumb ask 1998 is the vvti model which has a 5speed auto and a 3.30 gear ratio and makes more torque than hp it's pretty quick and I gapped nonvvti sc400s also the 1998 has a a650 trans which is a 5speed not the a340 4 speed

No such thing bro , You can’t look at things like how you would look at a new Camaro or mustang or Corvette where you can just go plug into the stock computer in the car on HP tuner doesn’t work like that with imports bro at least something good ones
@@SidewaysPerformance I'm still confused on how his stock ecu is reading boost I thought you had to run standalone setups on vvti 2jz to prevent timing skip etc or sor the computer to even see boost, from a butt dyno perspective did the car feel like it had 300whp?
@@trilliamogdlocog4986 Toyota ECUs are locked, meaning they can't be tuned whatsoever. What you're watching is someone put a turbo on an engine and letting the ECU compensate in order to accommodate the turbo. It likely makes somewhere around 300, this route is not uncommon, but as he said in the video you have to watch your air fuel mixture because you WILL lean out the engine doing it because the ECU's compensation "range" is only so wide.
The boost gauge is likely just from a vacuum line and is mechanical. So no ECU required to read boost, but they will never be able to change the boost target outside of a mechanical means like a wastegate. If you're not careful (read as don't beat on it) this is really risky, and you're better off putting your effort towards a standalone so you can get a proper tune. This engine makes sub 450hp fairly reliably, so I don't know why you would risk leaning your car out when ECU's like Link G4X with a Panic harness exist... but to each his own.
@@oscrsvn I looked more into it since then and decided to do suspension mods until I can get a standalone to help timing, air and fuel mixture etc I have a few tuners that recommendthe new ecu master black that's pnp... I'm more used to the 350z platform that can be flashed tuned but now I get it after researching about vvti and the 2jz/ maf tuning in general etc but thanks for the head up.
@@trilliamogdlocog4986 Good move. These motors can be monsters if you put the effort in and don't rush it, but it's very easy to get ahead of yourself and fiend for the sound lol. I don't know much about the new ECUMasters computer as it's come out pretty recently, and probably was around the time I bought my Link G4X (which you should also consider checking out the PanicMade website, as they make a pnp harness for the Link, in case you wanted a few options. $1700 shipped in the US).
If you haven't heard of FigsEngineering, I would give that entire site a good look through. They have tons of suspension and brake goodies for the IS platform which are all aimed towards street/drift car setups.
Also you're probably familiar with the CD009 6 spd out of the 350/370s, and they make swap kits for the IS platform. Great option, but a lot of people are catching on and getting a full swap kit + transmission is getting more expensive by the day. I personally went with a T56 which is similar in strength (if not better), and you can find a good all-in-one kit for the IS at the GrannisRacing website.
