The class continues with an expanded discussion on the third part of the body (tongue) which is abused by engaging it in sin rather than praising the Almighty. The tongue is the part of the body which can overpower both the believer and others, all the while leading a person towards Hell. Imam Ghazali discusses several sins of the tongue which a person should guard against. The first item is lying, whether in seriousness, or jokingly. The second sin is when a person makes a promise and then does not fulfill it. The third sin is backbiting, which Imam Ghazali breaks down in great detail. The fourth sin is disputing and debating with people.
