WW2 Ace in a Sabre

  • Squadron Leader and WW2 Ace, Major George Andrew Davis was the first American to become an Ace in 2 wars. He also did this spanning the propellors and jets eras. His WW2 experience helped him earn command of the 334th Fighter Squadron of the 4th Fighter wing in the Korean war. He excelled at the post, leading by example, and demanding strict discipline among his men. Under his leadership the squadron became one of the best battling for the Korean skies.
Davis grew to be so valuable that he became irreplaceable, it was protocol for Aces to be recalled back to the US, for their safety so they could teach their skills to the next generation of pilots, but Davis became so instrumental in his role that the Air Force couldn’t find anyone to take his place. And so, he remained fighting in Korea and seeing more action than ever. Just half a month after becoming an Ace, he became a Double Ace, claiming his 10th victory on December 13th.
But he met his end on February 10th, 1952 when providing cover for a group of F-84 Thunderjets across the infamous MiG Alley, where MiG patrols were common and numerous.
George Andrew Davis would be posthumously promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, as well as awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and a Purple Heart for his valiant actions that day.

The animation could do with more vibration and momentum of weight. All the aircraft roll and pitch rate is too foamy like, yes it won't do better for close up shot as heavy turns are high speed but less angle/second but if seen from a far show the power of both the engine and hydraulics pumping the fins to get into the manuvers.

So MiG-15s losing to Sabres due to having no brain IS realistic after all

Fair fights are for incorrigible romantics, and fools. Not fighter jocks. The Marquis of Queensberry wasn't a fighter pilot. 😉

@@Chip-18 It the same like Playing with T-34 agains Ambrams.. You can get lucky and kill one or two if they arent looking at you.. but when he sees you.. you aint doing shit.. And those Migs as well.. We can argue whitch was better plane but at the end the roll rate at mig sucks so Sabre wins.. Not to mention the Russian pilots wrecked the Americans and when It was only Chinese vs Americans then Americans wrecked Chinese 😀

This was the most fast action video that i ever watched on youtube
It went from a Tu-2 formation being escorted by La-11s just to encounter a super fast Aircraft with 6 50 cals shredding everything thing and the La-11s trying their possible to shot down the sabre only for a squadron of mig-15s to safe them
    Man that was wild

Wow the amount of details is amazing, from the models and textures to the very improved flight behaviors, especially the high roll rate and angle of attack of the Sabre and the sluggish roll of MiG15 and it's little speed loss in tight turns

I know I'm not the only one who caught the highway through the danger zone part. I also know I'm not the only one who channeled my inner archer and yelled "DANGAH ZOOOONE" in a high pitch. The ones who leave likes on this comment did it too.

Great video. This man was supremely brave to do what he did. I salute him. But if he wasn't so fixated on his third target he might've survived to fight another day.

This was a nice surprise, reading the title I first thought you were covering Francis Gabreski, whos exploits first in Europe were in the P-47 and like Robert Johnson are among my favorite fighter pilots. Perhaps another double war ace episode?!

Gabreski also flew over Pearl Harbor, but too late to enter combat.
