I don't think it looked good at all. Not one little bit. That said, my stepmother had one, the non-wagon version. It was mustard-yellow. An automatic. A pretty sorry excuse for a car, but it got her around (between breakdowns) for about 6 years. Our next-door neighbor had the Pontiac version of the same car (called the Pontiac Astre). Not sure what his reliability record was, but when he got rid of it, he got his mid-life-crisis car, a Pontiac Firebird, which was quite a step up.
Lucky 7 did far better with Bob Barker than with Drew Carey. It seems that now many contestants during Drew Carey's era seem to lose this pricing game.
@@silvialogan9226 I've seen a couple of episodes where Lucky Seven was played during the Dennis James version. The cars were a little more pricier and harder to win as the digits were more unpredictable and to no surprise that they weren't won.
This was back when it was known as Lucky Seven. Since 1987 and well into the Drew Carey era, it is styled as Lucky $even (just the normal font dollar sign in the title and not the use of the show's "price down" symbol as they applied it with games such as "Most Expen$ive" or the "Grand $ Game".
It's easier to win than Three Strikes. I hate that game because it's so difficult to win. Not only do you have to draw numbers instead of strikes, but you need to put the number in the correct position or else it goes back into the bag, thus increasing the chances you will draw a strike.
With that $1 she had left, Linda could've probably bought two or three gallons of gasoline, considering prices were around 39 cents per gallon in 1973. The whole OPEC price fixing fiasco and resulting oil embargo wouldn't happen for another four to five years.
somewhat gradually. none of us start a new job showing our bosses and coworkers who we really are LOL we don't start with the long lunches until about month 6
LUCKY $EVEN really is a great game to play next to, since it’s really the only game you walk up to, and it uses the third door space. I can still remember it being won the first time with the TPIRGOAT himself as host, and then being won on his last ever time on stage on April 1st, 2015 (shame it couldn’t be Any Number). I miss that legendary face of the show, and certainly miss this original magic this show had.

The rear window heater was standard to keep your hands warm when pushing in cold climates.
It was cool to see that Lynda won the very first time this game was played and knew to choose 5 for the last digit.
Some of my favorite clips to watch are of a brand new game and this is no exception. Lucky $even from the 70s!
I'm reading it as Lucky Seven (without the S as a dollar sign) from looking at the title above the game board? Was the title changed later on?
@severinjohn The S became $ when they changed the board to the purple and gold scheme in 1986.
His last game he ever did. April 1, 2015 . Great honor!
Correct, during his one-off appearance during the Carey Era.
@ yes sir!
From the opening and the first pricing game of the 8/28/73 episode of The Price is Right. Featuring the DEBUT of Lucky $even today.💵🚗
And it aired even after the Watergate hearings.
What a difference a " half a century " can make .
Lucky 7 did far better with Bob Barker than with Drew Carey. It seems that now many contestants during Drew Carey's era seem to lose this pricing game.

🔥🔥🔥 Wow, a car actually cost $2683! Wow! 😊
I remember TPIR board game we had in the early 70's. It had the lucky 7 game.
Keep the dollar, it's worth more than the car!
A Lucky 7 Win!
Always great to see the debut playing of a game won
If the car is $45,645, you are going to win. If it's $42,918, enjoy your 15 minutes of fame.
Keep showing these debuts!
Barker says "The New Price is Right" but the stage door on the first item for bid says "Price is Right"
Bill Cullen hosted the first version of the Price is Right, so this is the "new" version.

Linda didn't dip into Bob's Hundred Dollar Pocket for getting her bid exactly right.
No, because there was no $100 bonus until 1977
Always called it Unlucky Seven. 😉

Probably the hardest game on the show.
She didn’t get the $100 bonus for getting her bid on the catamaran exactly correct. I wonder what year they started doing that.
1977. May 23rd episode, specifically
Originally aired on CBS: 8/28/1973; repeated airing on #TPIRBarker
(Lynda's playing for the car during the debut of #Lucky7🚗💵)
Bob Barker's first and final Lucky Seven playing were both for Chevrolet cars, and both were won!!
And I'm sure Lucky 7 is still being played today. Can't believe this episode was only a half hour long.
It is still in the rotation. 51 years of Lucky Seven
72-75 half hour
75-current full hour
THAT WAS GREAT!!!
Boy the set was a little dark back then. My Uncle built that car.
The stage is surprisingly small when your in the studio. TV makes it seem pretty large. I was there in 1987.
With that $1 she had left, Linda could've probably bought two or three gallons of gasoline, considering prices were around 39 cents per gallon in 1973. The whole OPEC price fixing fiasco and resulting oil embargo wouldn't happen for another four to five years.
The new Vega!
I bet that Vega is still in the family. LOL!!!!!
For each of those 4 Numbers, I would have guessed the following.
1st Number: 2
2nd Number: 6
3rd Number: 9
4th Number: 4
A dollar for a chevy vega? she got ripped.
Lucky Seven was easier back in the day when car prices were very low. I hardly see anyone win it now.
"It looks good standing still" so does Lynda
I don't why I didn't know the Vega had a 2-door wagon option. The front end is reminiscent of the Camaro of the same years. I kinda like it now.
$1 for a Vega? That’s too much 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Linda Thompson ▶️ New Pricing Game "Lucky Seven" She won 🚗 Chevy Vega worth $2683 dollars.
That car would be a classic now
I had one, aluminum block. Peice of s..t. .. but a classic now.
Breaking hearts since 1973
One cool thing is how they also show the yellow floor to give you an idea as to the size of the stage.
A unique shot too of where Bob stands on the stage.
What a win for Lynda a sailboat and a car she was incredibly lucky
And definitely qualified to be in the Showcase.
Until she had to pay taxes on them
He was still saying the new price is right
Didn’t they used to give $100 if you guessed the price exactly during the bids?
Even though salaries were far lower, the middle class was stronger back then.
No bonus for the perfect bid back then.
Had she realized it would only make 40,000 miles at the most!
I wonder when Bob changed from this more "standard" game show host to when he was more himself: making fun of contestants and not being quite so "on".
somewhat gradually. none of us start a new job showing our bosses and coworkers who we really are LOL we don't start with the long lunches until about month 6
sorry not sorry but i'm loving the fashions
No cash for the exact bid?
Before 5-digit Debut in around 1996, This one doesn't have Free Number.
The Last 4-digit Style was in Halloween 2022 in Drew Carey Era.
1986, that's when they did the first 5-digit Lucky $even, when they debuted the purple/gold board.
Lucky Seven became 5-digit permanently by 1993.
wager 2658
Lucky $even has had several car crashes (know which pedel is the break, Rachel) and Janice Pennington sending Rod Roddy running for his life.
I'll never forget seeing the one with the yellow Mustang from '04 when it first happened. 😆
