14 years for me. Sometimes I’ve really wanted one, a cold beer on a hot summers day, but nope, I’ve carried on knowing I’ll never have a hangover again!
People who is able to manage rather than abstain are stronger. There is no need to drink but there is no need to abstain either.

14 yrs...wow that's some time but also congratulations on that time! My clean date is 10/15/18 so I have just alittle over 2 yrs. I didn't know you had this problem because frankly, I don't dig or pay attention to actors private lives because it's their privacy. I recently became sober(2 years with some hiccups) but I'm not quitting quitting. Thank you for your candor and caring about yourself and others enough to post this.

24 years for me. 25 this Nov. Anthony please also give advice to older fellas. Getting older is not for cowards. As for me I won`t go silently into the night. Had a good run and I hope the best is yet to come.
I gave up drinking nine years ago. I did not want to be an embarassment to anyone or myself or a violent scumbag. Happily sober. Thanks Sir Anthony and thanks Richard Burton.

"Do you want to live or die". THAT is the question to which we must be rigorously honest. If we want to live, then we must surrender to "living differently". For me, living differently was about going to meetings, cleaning house, and helping others. With all due respect to Anthony, "hanging in there", and "fighting" is a recipe for failure! "Surrender" is the basis for long term sobriety. After that, it's about what I do, NOT what I think, or say.
I have been continuously sober for more than 27 years, and my life is better than ever. Why? Because I continue to go to meetings, clean house, and help others. My sobriety begins and ends with my feet! All the best...Mark
