Follow these simple steps:
1) Update the Messenger app to the latest version
2) Open Messenger and login to your account
3) Tap on your profile icon
4) Select Phone Contacts
5) Tap on Upload Contacts and turn it off
6) Select Manage Contacts
7) Tap on Delete All Contacts
8) This way, you can remove suggestions on Messenger.

Well The more you delete anyone on the messenger suggestions or recents Of those items that you removed The more you do that it will keep appearing again and again and again because I try to delete anyone who is not on my friend list and the more I tried doing that it did not work I try to clear cache data and uninstall it and then reinstall And it still does not work And if you try to block them their profile will still appear So if I were anyone I just delete messenger app and that's it Because I am not installing that messenger app ever again even if it's still connected with Facebook or any other social media apps And the more you clear all from the messenger app those profiles that you're not friends with we'll still be there in the future
Or you could try to block them that way it won't appear but If you unblock them it will come back
