i used to do the shark fishing at montauk & its a blast. tigers were always tame on marthas vineyard, they used t oswim along surf board & swimmers fairly calmly, but it was the dolphins that freaked me out. they would surround you, 6+ at once & theyre not so cuddly when youre 100 yards from shore

I grew up in Fl Keys and knew two classmates that died of shallow water blackout. One buddy of mine was with one of them and tried to swimm him to the surface and had to let go because he wouldnt have made it to the top holding him. So sad. It was Many Puig's camera man, Chris Wrackley's step son.
its usually young and newer divers that are just getting good that black out. That was the stage in my diving when i had my only black out like 15 years ago. never came close to blacking out again. Its a shame if Wrackly's son's dive buddy had a gun with a reel or floatline you can just attach the line to the black out victim instead of dragging them up by force.

I dived with sharks all over the world. I've also done lots of spearfishing and had encounters with sharks. Point is, sharks, in general, are not interested in humans... only the fish we catch. Please do not think Ill of sharks!
i was thinking the same 85 ft is 20 to 25 meters.. a few kicks with long fins and you are up . focusing on fish... not great... there will always be another one. guess she learnt the hard way.
