Cleaning the evaporator with water is such a good tip, thank you!
@@edforthewin8574 You're very welcome, happy I could help you out. Cleaning it made the AC blow noticeably colder 👍
Thanks for the video. It helped me replace the blower on my 1998 Chevy Silverado. It had been making a loud squeaking sound when I turned it on and not blowing air... after 10-15 seconds the sound would go away, the blower would begin to spin, and air would flow but slowly. Now with the new blower it makes the interior very cold again... I think my original blower was working at 60-70% when it finally would start spinning. Good as new again.
Awesome 👍 You're welcome, glad I could help you get it fixed 👍
For those watching this to learn, it does not apply to earlier GMT400. I have a 92 K2500 and the dash is built differently and a whole lot more has to be disassembled to get the blower motor out.
You keep it as simple as possible. Thanks
Youre welcome 👍🏻
I may have puked in my breakfast from motion sickness watching you video, but it really helped make the job simple. Thank you.
You're welcome 😁👍🏻
Jonny DIY don’t worry man, love the GoPro style videos haha, thanks for the video really helps out man! Loved the humor of plugging the wires in before putting the cover on haha, most people would have just edited that out, great video man, you’ve got my sub!
I like the camera movement, it better showed the location of the connectors
Simple if you dont have anything older than a 96
Looks super easy thanks for the video changing mine tomorrow it came ups today
You're welcome, glad I could help you out. Yes not too bad of a job at all, pretty straightforward 👍
Thanks a lot for this. I have been trying to get my truck’s fan going for a year and I was just missing the wire locations on the fan after replacing parts.
You're very welcome, happy I could help you out and get it fixed 👍
Thank you! I'm doing this myself tomorrow, because it's cold and boyfriend has not had time to replace this on my truck.
You're very welcome, good luck with the project. Happy I could help 👍
Thank you so much for showing me how to do it, and the link to the exact part on Amazon!
You're welcome, glad I could help you out 👍
@@JonnyDIY where did the water go, when you sprayed the coil, with the water hose?
@@genestump9199 I believe I laid down towels on the floorboard. With the spray nozzle on end of hose I was able to clean it well without using too much water 👍
Man I had a whole lot of old pine needles and brush and all kinds of stuff in my coil box!!
@@genestump9199 ohh mann yeah its crazy all the stuff gets caught in there. Wish there was a modification to add a cabin air filter, maybe there is 🤔
He gets the job done and shows you how to..
This only applies to 1994-2002 OBS GM K series trucks and SUVs
thank you... that was easy.... i got it out at no times.
Glad to help! You're welcome 👍
Thanks for posting. I have one that needs to be replaced, and this video showed me how easy it will be to do it!
You're welcome, glad the video helped you out 👍🏻
What I was gna say😆
Glad I saw this one is mine those poor guys with the different model jezzz
Thank you very much. Needed to know how to get motor out so I could clean evaporator...
You're welcome, glad I could help out 👍
That cover was a bugger! Thank you
You're welcome, happy I could help you out. Yeah you're right, I remember it being a little fiddly for sure 👍
I get water in the blower from rain. Any suggestions thanks for the video and help.
1st check to make sure ac drain line isn't plugged, then I'd check the windshield for leaks. Run a hose all around seal and watch for drips. If you park on level ground will be easier to pinpoint where its coming from. Lastly would be that somehow water leaking or getting into fresh air intake vent usually located under cowling beneath windshield
Excellent. Doing this job this weekend. Thanks for the tips.
You're welcome, hope it helps! 👍🏻
Good video. But cmon, there is alot of missing footage. Like putting that #$&^@ cover back on. Lol. 🤣
left the cover off the blower it is black and looks good as is
Thx bro that damn right bolt pissed me off
You're welcome, glad to help 👍
Thank you sir! 👍
You're very welcome, happy I could help you out 👍
My cover did anything BUT "slip out" lol
Lol, yeah it is a bit of a fiddly job working under there
thank you. I am trying to help a friend
You're welcome 👍🏻
i have a 1998 and did not have the room he was showing
Yeah some 98s are like this, some arent. That was year they switched over to newer body style. Should be similar process though
when you sprayed the evap did you have to suck water out with wet vac or did you just leave it in?
It all came out on towel and I probably stuffed towel up inside to get it all dry 👍
@@JonnyDIY gotcha, I also saw on another vid there is a drain hole as well but ill try towel too just to be safe, thank you for the quick response!
@@-.Ascendant You're welcome, good luck 👍
Hey did you spray water up in there or am I seeing things?
I did with the garden hose 👍 I show in this video cleaning it. It makes run a lot colder.

Good video
Thank you 👍🏻
Thanks! Got a problem.
Glad to help! You're welcome 👍
Is there any easier way to get in where you were washing out other than replacing the blower motor?
No that's the other way to get to it for cleaning. Only a few bolts though 👍
@@JonnyDIY Ty for the quick reply. My issue is I had a rodent infestation which blocked up the areas in there in multiple spots. The actual hose leading to the vents as well as I'm willing to guess in that big area you sprayed out.
I don't think I'll be able to spray it out without getting stuck so I'm looking at vacuuming it out.
I wish they would've put a few openings on it. Maybe round shaped for vacuums to hook to directly to just suck everything out.
@@Umadbro681 bummer they usually get in through the fresh air intake under cowling. Can put metal screening. Also check air filter box. Ive put metal screening over those too
@@JonnyDIY Ty thats a good idea. I wish they would think of that when designing these things. A couple of suck out holes for vacuums would be great. Or at least an easy open area where I can shove my arm in without having to take out the fan motor. Looks like a night of beer and regret awaits me.
May as well just name my truck my ex wife.
So you dont need to take out the battery/unplug it?
Nope 👍
The blower motor in the link is the wrong one
Thank you, just updated! 🤙🏼
The blower motor cover removal seems edited. When he finally pulls it off, it’s in front of the dash. Its not that easy to pull down. Mine has the top tab and seems to have what seems like snaps. I still haven’t got it off. I thought it would be a piece of cake
I rotated the cover to the left. There’s a bump in the cover and after I got it under the metal brace, it slipped right off😊
No magic editing here, glad you got it off though 👍
How do you know if the resistor motor needs replaced or blower motor?
You can test each individually. Can hook blower motor directly to battery and see if works. If your blower motor is blowing now but only on 1 speed or not all the speeds, most likely its the resistor
what if the resistor needs replacing as well?
Replace that as well, its located right above blower motor, only a couple small bolts to change it out 👍
Oh thank God we don't have to rip the dash apart
Right!? Some manufacturers make more of a pain to get to 👍
Should I disconnect my battery first?
Not necessary, but wouldn't hurt 👍🏻
@@JonnyDIY thanks jonny!
@@Woodcliff14 you're welcome 🤙
Why did u use a water hose my blower making a loud screaming noise
Water hose to clean coils on evaporator. Try spraying some wd-40 on the blower bearing where it spins
May be able to even grease it
what year of truck
I connected the ground unit and the wires got really hpt
Hot
Hmm I would check the ground on it and make sure the contacts are clean. Sounds like a bad ground connection
Also sometimes an old blower motor can start drawing too much power and run hot . Is it a new one or old?
The 94 Silverado is definitely not this easy. The computer and computer bracket are all in the way it’s way tight to get to the four screws to remove the bracket. Pain in the ass
This is 96+ ..... try doing this on a 94. Not so easy
Ohh dang really, more wedged up under dash?
Computer is above blower and has to come out. Passengers side kick panel has to be moved and dash support loosened in order for the blower to have room to wiggle out
@@TheShangralaaaa17 dang, yeah hate working up under dashes. New cars are even worse
Mine had the computer above it so that was a bitch but everything else wasn’t too bad
shake the camera much???
As much as I can 👍
