OMG I can remember my first pair of pumps. I headed straight to the school playground with them cause there was no doubt in my mind that I could jump higher and slam dunk the basketball. Man this brings back memories!
That's a sorry attitude by the students who had them and a sorry attitude by those who didn't have them --- if they bought the lie that they needed them.
Yeah, they was mega huge back then. Reebok was out selling their three main competitors combined by 2-1 Where I grew up in the uk it was all about the pumps.
What a subliminal shot at Nike that was... "so michael my man" referring to Jordan... "air out"... basically saying get those "air" jordans' out of here lol.... wow
I got my a pair of pumps in 1990 when I was seven. It’s embarrassing, I remember begging my parents for them. I didn’t know how expensive they were until I looked it up today. I remember how cool I thought these were. Being so long ago, I only have a couple of vivid memories about wearing them. I remember how bad I wanted them when trying them on at the shoe store and I remember the air bladder popping so that whenever I would pump them they would just make a hissing sound.
I begged and begged and finally got them for my 13th birthday. They were ridiculously heavy and fell apart after 3 months, which, for 250 dollar shoe (in Australian $) was bullshit. Plus I still sucked at basketball. Ah, the loss of innocence.
Those shoes were awful, but I don't remember being so in love of a couple of sneakers back in those days. There were a couple of them at the store window in my town and everytime I got out from school I had to pass and stare at them like for a minute.
me too. i wanted them so bad but my parents didnt have that kind of money to spend on sneakers and then i got a bag of hand-me-downs from a cousin and in the bag was a pair of the blacktop pumps and i was so excited but they were like four sizes too big. so i stuffed socks in the ends so i could wear then around the house.
Those sneakers were honestly so ahead of their time, that it was futuristic to have such technology installed into a sneaker.

those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end, those were the days, oh yes those were the days!!!
Those shoes bring back so many memories
Still wear some pumps today, they’re still great shoes quality and comfort is still there
"So Michael my man..."
That line gets me all the time. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I had a pair of pumps back in the day!
I remember being amazed at those shoes and figuring how EXPENSIVE they were. lol
If you didn't have these in the early 90's, you were basically treated as an outcast at school.
That's a sorry attitude by the students who had them and a sorry attitude by those who didn't have them --- if they bought the lie that they needed them.
In 1990 I had a pair of Jordan V and Reebok pump cross trainer. The reebok's were by far more popular at the time.
Yeah, they was mega huge back then.
Reebok was out selling their three main competitors combined by 2-1
Where I grew up in the uk it was all about the pumps.
This commercial was made in 1991, not 1989. The Omni zone and the Command Force Wilkins held up came out that year.
Yes, and Nike Air Force in this commercial are from 1991.
Back when you can even mention another brand name without getting ass raped with copyright laws
that colorway is amazing!!!!!
How do i remember this so vividly down to the horns
and air out... I remember that... shots fired.
just got these!!! amazing
What a subliminal shot at Nike that was... "so michael my man" referring to Jordan... "air out"... basically saying get those "air" jordans' out of here lol.... wow

hahahaha such a diss to Nike! i never new shoe companies dissed each other on commercials, nice!
pumped-up kicks
I had the black ones!!!
where did you buy the pumps?
i want some
This commercial can't be from 1989. Those Nike Air Command Force shoes that he tossed away in the end didn't come out until 1991.
It is 91, the Omni Zone ll featured in the commercial is from that year.
actually the command forces came out in 1990 but you are right that this commercial dropped in 1990
Such a dope shoe
Wow
In 1988 I bought the high top black reebok pumps for $167. I wore them and my vertical actually went down so I sold them for $50!!!!
24th of November 1989 they first released.
But I get it. I get my years mixed up too sometimes.
OH NO HE DI'NT!!!
I cant believe we thought that shit would work.
It did work. It was for a custom fit.
I bet people in Atlantis had shoes like this.
I begged and begged and finally got them for my 13th birthday. They were ridiculously heavy and fell apart after 3 months, which, for 250 dollar shoe (in Australian $) was bullshit. Plus I still sucked at basketball. Ah, the loss of innocence.
Wasn't this spoofed on a GTA SA commercial? Eris shoes?
Those damn sneakers are worth a fortune now
Those were air forces
AVGN brought me here
yeeeeaah me too
2 years since then
Lol, I wonder why they stopped makin the pump shoes, if it was more to do with fashion or just improvement in sneaker technology.
Surprised DW only wore size 13? I do and I’m only 6’1”
They weren't Jordans?
I wondered how much those shoes costed back in those days.
$170 or about $300 in todays money. In the UK they were around £260 in today's money
isn't size 13 small for a dude thats 6'8? most guys in the league, even the guards are like 14 and above
Jordan is a 13
Foster the people!

that's cool bro... i miss eighties
Throwing them Jordans away was sooo disrespectful smh lmao
They deserved it.
Back when I was a kid it was:
1: Reebok Pump
2: Nike Air
3: Puma Disc
Bye bye Jordan's.
Regular show
those shoes are sexy.... i wonder if they have em' somewhere!
Those aren't jordans
lol
@ToxiclRevieved They have them somewhere ;)
The Nike air command force pump was better.
Nike was practically giving them away. 99% of them ended up in outlets and sales racks. The Reebok pump smashed them all back then.
thumbs up if sips brought u here
Violated Nike
Pumped out................Air Jordan up...........Wilkins nooooooo Rings..........
true_og_ 2345 whats that gotta do with it???
And?
Lol no one wears pumps
Regualr
dauumm they dissed nike, lol
What a scam lmao lmao. Attach a placebo pump to shoe and jack up price by 80 bucks...
Yea right, next you're going to try to tell me zips didn't make me run faster. Crazy talk....now where are my green M&M's I need to hit a home run.
The pump was for a custom fit. And the original ers was just as responsive as nike air.
I had the first Reebok Pump shoes. I was my older, gay brother didn't throw them out like he did. >:/
Dominque is jealous Michael won off the free throw line
What?
they dont look as cool as they did in 6th grade!
