- The Archies is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language teen-musical comedy movie based on the American comic book series of the same name produced by Tiger Baby Productions and directed by Zoya Akhtar, starring Mihir Ahuja, Aditi Saigal, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Yuvraj Menda, Agastya Nanda and Vedang Raina. It is scheduled to release on Netflix in 2023.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy family drama movie directed by Karan Johar starring Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.
After the massive success of the anthology film Lust Stories, the popular filmmaker Ronnie Screwvala has produced another project, the anthology titled Lust Stories Season 2, in association with Ashi Dua and Netflix. Lust Stories 2 is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language anthology drama movie featuring Neena Gupta, Kajol, Tamannaah Bhatia, Mrunal, Vijay Varma, Kumud Mishra in lead roles.
Kraven the Hunter is an upcoming American superhero movie based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel Entertainment. It stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role alongside Ariana DeBose, Russell Crowe, Fred Hechinger, Christopher Abbott and Alessandro Nivola.

Atleast try to be open minded for the sake of sounding like a sensible movie critic! Without even watching the movies you are passing on just any comment you feel like! Zoya Akhtar is a good filmmaker. Going by her movie making style her research is always solid. Even that's not the case for this movie atleast wait till the release of the movie before you pass any comment!

There are plenty of other channels for that where one can watch sensible movie reviews. Its these two's 'bakaiti' which make people like them. I think your such criticism is not sensible.
Shows the disparity where we had poverty and disease outbreaks in villages in the 60s while exclusive rich schools had all the western luxury in early 60s (if u look at their archives)
Have you gone crazy?? Even the most poshest schools of Bombay and Mussoorie were not this glamorous, I have friends and family and myself who studied at Doon to attest to this. Westernised but nowhere this rich, You know what is?? The Dhirubhai Ambani school where these actors have actually gone too. This is their lifestyle with a smokescreen of 60s.

Tbh, it was reality for a very small minute segment, you should read about 1950-60s lifestyle of Mumbai Parsi and Anglo-Indian communities Mussoorie and kolkata, Anglo Indian communities had quite different lifestyle and they were quite present in some hilly districts of India their lifestyle was quite popular in art, cinema spy novels and books of that time, but with time majority of them migrated to western countries and Parsi communities also shrinked a lot due to low birth rate, just look at movies of Hunterwali you will get the vibes
Yes not everything needs to be relatable , if that were the case war movies, horror movies, fantasy and other genres wouldn't exist
The fact that someone is making a riverdale adaptation in india is a statement about who is the audience they are serving. The exceptional reception of class is a great response from the wealthy urban class young adult audience. Reimagining a past while incorporating elements of west/usa in the 60s to sell a story to the demographic is very smart. But it’s a massy show meant to please a very niche segment, albeit a very wealthy segment. It’ll lead to more iconic outfits to new fashion and music choices in the urban social circles.

Guys, my mom, SoBo girl born in early 50s, happened to over heard what I was watching on my phone, confirmed they had shakes and burgers, no fries but chips in 1960s, rock n roll dance and other stuff in Bombay. More popular among elites of South Bombay, not in rest of India. No proms but parties yes. just fyi! Anyways, I enjoy watching your videos! lol I edited few times as my mom was making commentaries on your video😂

But that presented an entertainment which would make audiences forget about the problems of the day like unemployment , shortage of many essential goods etc

Archies is for the ultra modern metro audience, they are not even targeting the masses. The only difference is they speak in hindi. So the makers know their target audience.

I don't know understand why India needs Indian adaptation of Archies. The era that the comic is portrayed in cannot be correlated to the same timeline in India. I enjoy the comic as it is. But even if it is portrayal of Anglo-Indian or even Upper class Indians in a fictional town is not relatable at all. Add few star kids previlege on top of that. I am excited to listen to their struggle stories. 😂
Indians had far more important things to do in 1960s. And this film is not serving anything more than bina baat ka drama is what i feel. And the timing is also not good.

All the films you mentioned above are realistic, Znmd can be a story of any 4 rich boys..families like dil dhadakne do exist in delhi - I literally know many of them , gullyboy was inspired by Divine- a real life singer/rapper. Talash was a different genre altogether but it was also rooted in facts - some souls do get trapped in this world after dying if they have unfinished business. And luck by chance shed light on the reality of struggling actors in Bombay, the film was way ahead of its time. All brilliant films but Archie’s looks farrr from the truth , very disappointing , putting out such a version of 60’s on Netflix fr global audience to watch will definitely confuse people and their perception of wat 1960’s looked like in india.
Ironically if u look at top private boarding schools in Nainital and Shimla, even in the 60s and 70s they had rock music, pool parties, shakes and burgers! But a small student count of political and diplomat offsprings who are probably all abroad now. While the plains of UP and Bihar had the middle class schools generating the modern middle management now ;)

Why do you need to relate to everything to enjoy a movie? We watched 'Friends', didn't we? We enjoyed the show without relating to the characters and the American society in the 90's.
When watching friends, many people look at it as a window into life in the US. You have a cast of likable characters who go about their lives.
With Archies, when they say 1960s India. We know what India was like in the 60s. Many don't already like the snobby, rich, nepo kids being introduced. On top of it, the story is about first world problems being experienced by uber rich kids. This is not a class of people who most audience empathize with.
