Devil incorporated by the looks, but a fair one by his decisions. If he had not become a referee, he would have made a great career in theatre. An icon, a legend, a referee I often admired more than any one of the footballers of the match.
He was good at talking to the players and has a calm but firm personality. Made the right calls, didn't give yellows cause his ego was bruised, was a solid man who the players respected.

And in the 80s, it surely was the same phenomenon. Fact of the matter is that football has become so much more professionalized and athletic that the skill level increased massively. So even if people think players today are soft, there is no doubt that these soft players would completely destory the legendary teams of 20 years ago. Just because they are better trained, more tactically advanced and more athletic.

That’s a fact, balls were harder and heavier, the kits weren’t so technical, the pitch wasn’t that cured and most importantly many fouls weren’t whistled. The yellow card tackles you see nowadays were no foul in the 20’s, just to say. That, added to a really elementary level of biogenetic knowledge, made football a really dangerous game to play, probably worser than rugby because of the massive use of our legs, which are our strongest part of the body. Soo now you understand, football back then was for really passionate people!

The Great and Cruel Phantomas))) I mostly loved how Davids behaved when met him in the field. Usually aggressive Davids was like a soft hard kid))) Most of us loved him, but we could not explain why. In 2000 euro he made a big mistake, and it cost to Czech team a victory. But in overal he was great.
