Qui habitat in adiutorio altissimi translated to English as 'Whoso dwelleth under the defence of the Most High' is an ancient Roman chant (Canto antico Romano) presumably from VIII-th - IX-th century, based on Psalm 91 (Greek number: Psalm 90) , is known as the Psalm of Protection. As a religious song, this Psalm is commonly invoked in times of hardship. The author of this psalm is unknown. Though the author of this Psalm is unknown and no author is mentioned in the Hebrew text of this Psalm, the Greek Septuagint translation of the Old Testament attributes the Psalm to David

This is the Tract for the Mass of the First Sunday of Lent. Psalm 90 (91).
This tract is still chanted in the gregorian mass but on an other melody.
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the recompense of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place-

I suffered from panic attacks and heart palpatations really badly the last months even though im 17 and no heart problems. During the nights i would cry and hope the panic attack would just kill me because it would be easier for me, i didnt want to live the rest of my life like this. One day i started believing in Christ and my heart doesnt feel any more pain and i sleep soundly at night. I have never really been a man of the cloth or any religion for that matter. I have studied but never really cared beyond an slight interest. I was raised in a christian house hold to a degree. I was baptized as a baby as a catholic by my grandmother(she was a nun but left the fold) my mother is a pagan and my dad is a devout christian. I have explored many faiths and found a respect to them all. But a few weeks ago I fell asleep listening to Templar chants I find them relaxing. Well one dream I had and God spoke to me. I cant remember what was said but I remember the feeling. It felt like I was asked to come home. Like I am welcomed home and it is time to return. All the while this is chant is playing. I woke up and thought it was just a dream nothing more than a dream driven by the music I was listening to. Well I read the title name and noticed it was Psalm 91 and I googled that and read it. I thought about this all day realizing that he asked me to come home. That I have earned my right to come home. I thought I would share.

I’ve been dealing with anxiety all day today. A few hours ago I had an anxiety attack. I tried breathing exercises, though they didn’t work. My chest hurt so bad that I wanted to cry. I remembered Psalm 91 and how I used to read it (or have it read to me) when I was afraid as a child. I found this song and began listening to it while I prayed. I physically felt my anxiety leave my body as I prayed. Thank you for posting this, it really helped me.

This is my personal favourite psalm. It is so encouraging and it strengthtens my faith in the Lord.
It struck me even more intense when God spoke to me through this beautiful psalm many times, especially on the day of angels when it is read during Mass, dated in the beginning of October.

I'm atheist and pretty ignorant about religions in general and Christianity in particular. That being said, on verse 13 is written "...you will trample the great lion and the serpent." I kind of understand the symbolism of the serpent, but what about the great lion? What it represents? A fierce danger, or maybe rage and anger?

I do have to agree with you though, the Bible does have MANY complexities, so one has to read it carefully, as with anything, the KJV is not the best source. But to completely disregard that there could be a God, based upon several misconstrued interpretations? I think that's giving up way too easily.
And as for the evidence, you can't always see it, even when it's right in front of you. You just have to keep looking in the right places. Don't give up because you simply cannot see it.

I haven't gone to a church service in over 20 years and I feel a calling from God to become Orthodox Christian, I'm learning to forgive and I pray often now. I have so much more happiness in my life since I have found Jesus again! Thank you heavenly father for your guidance

My soul was filled with joy and all of my questions got the same anwer: Christ. Since then my life has changed . You can litteraly hear how the two branches of eastern orthodox /byzantine music and the western gregorianic muisc emerged from the ancient roman stile.
We are all christians we need to become the very first church again since the early days. Dont let you get divided by names like orthodox, catholic etc. We are all both as a united church

For me the orthodox christian church holds still the original tradition and believes high but its still just an fractement of the "one and only catholic (no i dont mean the roman catholic church) apostolic church" christendom has today more then ever only enemies which want to corrupt the people and bring them away as possible from christ. So it doesnt help a bit when christians are divided into so many churches and sects and are hostile among eachother. In the end we all believe in the same lord and thats why we should unite again. In the end we are all brothers and sisters in the name of jesus christ

Church Fathers (including Orientals) always make it clear that the Catholic Church based in Rome is the Mother Church. Saint Irenaeus of Lyon says that in the Church of Rome there is the head of the Priesthood and Christian unity, and with that Church (From Rome) all the others must be in communion. St. Paul's letter to the Romans (11.26) mentions the Church of Rome as the one grafted in place of Israel, not the "Orthodox" Church of the country. Church fathers clearly show the primacy of the Church of Rome, not of the Russian "Orthodox" Church, for example. So, who split up were you. Furthermore, the Byzantine rite is not exclusively of the "Orthodox" Church. The Catholic Church is formed by 24 Churches, 23 of which are Eastern Byzantine, Armenian and Coptic. And no, those who have joined Rome again are not traitors and apostates, they have returned to the bosom of the mother Church. and remember, many eastern Christians did not adhere to the schism of 1054, like the Maronites, who refused to separate from Rome, were almost wiped out by the Lebanese "Orthodox" Church.

@Read Father Seraphim Rose Pardon. There was a mistake on my part. It is Romans 11: 17-20. Saint Paul clearly says that the Church based in Rome was grafted in place of the old root that had been cut. And what is that root to which St. Paul refers? just go back to the Gospel according to Matthew 21.43 where Our Lord Jesus promises that the "Kingdom will be taken from you and given to another people that will produce its fruits". In verse 20 of Romans 11, see that St. Paul says that it was by faith that the Church of Rome was elected, while by unbelief that ancient root was cut (Romans 11.20) making clear reference once again to the Gospel according to St. Matthew 8.10 Where Jesus admires and praises the faith of a Roman centurion, exclaiming that he has not seen such faith in all of Israel. Saint Paul also praises the faith of the Church of Rome, addressing him with the words that in the world the faith of Rome is advocated (Romans 1,8)
@Read Father Seraphim Rose and what are these "various creeds" allowed by the Pope? we profess ONE FAITH from Apostolic times and to prosecute those until the glorious coming of Our Lord. This talk of "Earthly dominance" fits you and your political infighting more closely, like the patriarchies of Constantinople and Moscow. The Pope did not fall into any temptation. The Catholic Church has preserved full UNITY from the first centuries between the Pope and the Bishops united with him, unlike "Orthodoxy" which is full of cracks between itself. There is, and it is no worse than Protestants to mention the scriptures, it is just one more fact to be mentioned, where it shows that not only in the scriptures, as in Holy Tradition, the Church of Rome is the primate.
