      @@sjjdjejdkdkd3716 Naturally, since to "grow up" is to work endless pointless jobs and maybe retire in 40 years. Why wait your whole life to begin living as you wish? His "childishness" is a rejection of the fake rules and regulations which everybody bends themselves to submit to, and collectively enforce. Doesn't everybody understand how we all submit part of our autonomy and desires to be part of society? But we don't have to!
      Childishness v Adulthood: where do you draw the boundaries? There is no real distinction. Its a fake social construction. The reality is of Freedom/Pleasure v the "moral" responsibilities/toil of adulthood, and wage labour. The "Rat Race," right? So its a natural reaction to society. Growing up is sacrificing the freedom of childhood to "become an adult" and become a "good, responsible" person. Purely a moral judgment (fake)
      The Adulthood/Childhood thing is just a mask for this. Unfortunately, the sanctions for violating these fake rules, for not living within the standard plan for living, are very real.

    His happiness is adorable. I love that he lives in a way that makes him happy. Cos that's what life's about, right? To live a happy life! :) As an autistic female, I am actually very similar to this side of the spectrum, so thank you for this video, it has helped me understand myself a little more. I just worry that there will be people that watch this and assume that we are all the same. The spectrum is very broad and there are so many little differences to each autistic person. And I'm sick of people saying that autism immediatly means extremely stupid. We just think differently and see things differently. Just because some of us can be extremely anxious and go mute sometimes and struggle to explain/express feelings doesn't mean there's nothing going on in our brains! Thanks for reading this. Just wanted to get my thoughts out. 💖✌

      It's easier for women who are on the spectrum then it is for men. My odd behaviour may even look cute but a man with similar behaviour would be considered insane. Also, a woman with autism can find a man who will take care of her while a man with autism is left to himself.

    • @yoanakochkova7250
      @yoanakochkova7250 4 роки тому +12

      @@gacomics5951 There is still a pervasive belief that women can't be autistic and they are still often under- or misdiagnosed. Pair a lack of diagnosis with trying to fit into a world you don't quite fully understand or fit into (but are socially pressured to be socially acceptable and agreeable, perhaps a bit more than men), and it's a recipe for leading a frustrating, unfulfilling life. I'd say the challenges for each gender are unique and neither is better. I know autistic men in relationships and autistic women whose interests/personalities are too intense for them to maintain relationships. Every individual is exactly that, an individual! Most importantly, let's hope society gets more accepting of people's differences.

He hates having facial hair to shave, loves nail polish, likes dresses, and having his hair long. There's nothing wrong with any of it, but he just needs someone to show him how to express his feminine side, although it would be very hard in this world to be both autistic _and_ transgender or interested in drag. If my child were severely autistic, I'd take good care of them and they would not look like they had anything out of the ordinary. I admire Katie Price for how she brings up Harvey, he wears normal trendy and fashionable clothes, he has cool hair and looks good. She takes care of him and he's obviously well brought up. I'd make sure from an early age that normal things such as going to the hairdresser, cutting nails, brushing teeth, choosing good clothes, keeping clean and smart etc were priority. I work with young vulnerable adults with autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. Some of our residents are very resistant to hair cuts and to assistance with personal care. Some parents are brilliant and buy them clothes from Superdry, Nike, Gym King and skinny jeans etc, and we put the radio on, music channels, keep things current.

    “He says he can’t really imagine what others are feeling”. But is that really true though? Looking at Markus, he seems to be such a kind soul, meeting everyone with an open heart, caring about his friends, not caring about whether someone is disabled or “different” in some way, just treating others as human beings, something that many “normal”, neurotypical people could learn from. And yet, he is the one that supposedly struggles with empathy, when it is the others who constantly judge and belittle people like him. Is it really the case that autistic people “have less empathy” and “don’t understand others” or is it simply the case that society values social protocol more than actual empathy and authenticity? I really feel that when people talk about autistic people struggling to understand others they mean that we don’t know what the social rules are in a given situation, not that we do not care about or emphasize with another person’s feelings. Neurotypicals likewise struggle to understand autistic people’s reactions and feelings and yet we don’t assume that they are lacking in empathy, they’re just the majority.

    I have autism and I was not understood much for a while. I have a lot of friends and live a good social life and everything is good in that aspect, even though I'm an introvert. At my middle school my grades were always terrible. My parents and teachers thought I was lazy and that discouragement made me give up. I did some self reflection and diagnosed my self with autism. After lots of tests at centers and some therapy stuff it turns out I was right about me being autistic. The therapist said I am gifted on lots of things such as math calculations and logic. The therapist said it's because of my found interest in programming and physics along with just being a deep thinker on politics and how the world works. Apparently programming is my gift and is the thing Marcos was talking about with having a thing you are extremely talented at that you can do in isolation, which for me is programming, while for Marcos it's circuitry with custom sound boxes and making toys like that, which is like a more physical way of programming. The therapist said I had 140 ball park IQ and I gained some self confidence, (not to be like some kid who watches Rick and Morty or an r/iamverysmart beta) but I have a bunch of weaknesses. I take longer to answer questions when they are not about math. This is because my autism and personality often thinks about things to say in every possible way, which is where I have got a deep thinking logician type trait. I also have ADHD and need medication. After the next year started in high school the therapy and medication and my own self determination got me in honor society. I had gotten in trouble after being manipulated into participating into some seriously bad stuff related to hacking, as another boy had tricked me into thinking I was friends with him and he tried to steal code I had written after abusing my interest in computer science. He wanted to modify my code in a way for him to use it maliciously. I fortunately never gave him anything I had made but he had already gotten in trouble. He blamed me but he was doing the same thing to other kids with an interest in programming, all trying to make them do work for him. The principles thought I was lying when I said I didn't know anything about the hacking that happened to the school, but they still insisted I had made stuff to take down there network and spread hate messages on there public forums, when the only things I had ever made where just for getting around the web filter to play video games online. The principles also had no idea what autism really was. After my parents talked with the school they found out about how the school never even completed my file on my autism and were just trying to sneak me into sped classes if they weren't able to expel me. The districts officer instantly came over to the school that day and fixed everything and made a plan with me to protect me from people like the kid who almost used me even more. Things are going well this year and I have great grades and I am considered as high functioning as possible for an autist, yet I have so many strengths and weaknesses with it. I think it's all due to me just being into programming and finding my gift that activated the side of me into programming video games and my own apps. It is unfortunate Marcos never got his gift accepted as he could have got a good job from a company that would require a lightweight hardware welder like him. If you have autism, recognize your strengths and weaknesses to improve upon them, and don't let people discourage you from your talents. Several years ago my own teachers said I will never be able to do any kind of programming with my grades, yet at the time I self taught myself 4 different programming languages in one year.
    Moral of the story for those autistics out there like me, you have basically been given op stats in one area such as engineering or a taste for arts, but the devs decided to balance you out by giving you a few weaknesses in social skills and abstract English concepts.

    I have Autism and I can relate so much to him. I don't understand how people are satisfied in their boring jobs doing the same thing day in day out like sheep. It makes no sense to me. I just wanna do what I want and live the way I want without anyone telling me what to do.

      Feel the same and I'm not autistic. Or maybe I am? I knew all my life that I was "different", teachers kept telling my mom to take me to a mental health expert, because I didn't like playing with other kids and was completely happy playing alone, I had huge issues socializing with other people and don't like being touched. Still have problems giving my mom a hug :/ that makes me sad. All my life I always just had one special friend, can't function in groups. I can get overly attached when I feel like I connect with someone on a deeper level and one break up with an ex boyfriend made me suicidal, fortunately I was able to snap out of it. I used to call people in general "the others", in a sense that I was not like everyone else (even though I wished I was) never felt I could belong. Nowadays I know how to and can act normal though. I just would like to find out what my problem is.

      They aren’t, but they have to work to survive and support themselves. They typically find the good in their jobs so they can make it through the bad. Not everybody gets a dream job, but most people have to support themselves and other people in their family with whatever job they can.

    One of my biggest fears as well as most parents with children with special needs is that somewhere in the distant future my wife and I may not be able to physically be able to take care of him and eventually we will die. I am scared of the thought who would be there for my boy how will he manage Lord knows you can’t trust the state..I try to make him his independent as possible so that he can manage on his own but he may never fully be able to

      Don't be too harsh on him, if autistic people are so fond of particular kind of niche interests it's also because it keeps them going. It can be a way to avoid the things they have to do and are source of anxiety but it's also what keeps them alive.

    I have autism too I understand his situation deeply. I don't feel comfortable with people too because they don't care about anything but themselves. People are dishonest too and always busy. It makes society dangerous and scarry. I am very aware of everyone else with all the pollution you all create it's painful for autistic people. Also, people will never understand us. You can't understand something that is uniquely designed for one person's experience. We can't share brain cells and tissues. Autism is a lonely world of textures. Though the autistic brain is built to handle it. Through awareness and understanding we will prosper together. Love and support is the most important thing in life. ❣️

    I am wondering why he isn't able to cook, do laundry, or manage money well. I am wondering how much of it has to do with the disability and how much has to do with either others not taking the time to show him or just not pushing those tasks on him. I am on the spectrum and have been known for being better at budgeting than most, sometimes to the point of being obsessive compulsive and afraid to spend. I am having a hard time finding a job that I am good at which pays a living wage. I do basic living skills well but have challenges with things that depend on what other people do, so I am getting out and applying for jobs and interviewing.
    I think that the parents might want to start giving him more responsibility a little at a time. Maybe start with doing his own laundry and having him help out with grocery shopping and preparing meals so that he at least has whatever skills he can even if it never measures up to what society expects it is best to keep improving in weak areas.

      Yes, some people with autism use it as an excuse to not have to take responsibility for anything. The moment anything gets difficult it's "I can't study because I have autism, I get too overwhelmed", "I can't do any cleaning because of my autism," or "I can't work because of my autism". It's not an excuse to not make an effort and not push yourself to get better, or to rely on everyone and everything else to support.

      I understand what ur saying.
      It's hard if ur mental constitution is kid but academic/factual skills are PhD or some avant skill.
      It's also difficult for parents to find the balance.
      I'm all for flying solo as long as there's help when functioning drops out.
      A lot of people don't believe I have anything. Ive had breakdowns which in hindsight could be do to my challenges but correlation and causation is a wicked problem.
      I admit I've wanted people to take care of me and I came from a place of super independence climbing/skiing mtn's and setting up my own businesses but have now lost due to my brain differences.
      I have only 5 professionals believe in me and some - if not all - have passed out of my life. I don't have any clinical support anymore.
      This is my progression:
      ADHD/Learning Dificulties/Soft Neurological Signs (1992) -> Teen Troubles (1995-1998) -> Mental Health/Burnout (2007) -> Hit My Head on Rock (2008) -> Mental Breakdown/Psychosis (2009-2011) -> Adjustment w Mood/Conduct (2011), Depression & MDD (2011), Personality D/O w Psychosis (2012), Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum, Severe Learning Disability w Psychosis, ASD/long-term/short-term memory challenges/executive functioning disorder/psychotic break (2012) -> Pervasive Developmental DO (2014) -> Dysthymia & GAD (2017) -> cPTSD/adult ADHD (2018)
      As you can see from above they more or less say the same thing in different ways about my functional constitution. You can also see 2012 was a banner year for diagnosis.
      That's on top of physical stuff like arthritis, hormonal disorder, congenital narrowed spine (congenital spinal stenosis), disc degenerative disease, foot deformity (but not like club foot or extra growth), genetic disturbances, etc
      I am very confused. I question if I have delirium. Have no supportive education given to me by medicine and so I have no idea how it affects my everyday life.
      So naturally when I say it's one of my challenges others - and even me at times - wonder if I'm just playing the disability card.
      My home care worker doesn't believe I have anything and my parents don't understand either. There forced to either believe me or not believe my labels.
      That's also considering that everything is subjective esp. experiences and labels.
      ( Take a look at "The Meaning of Madness (Dr Burton)" )
