Well at least Ethans stuff looks like something that I’d buy at a local comic shop. Meanwhile Eric’s comic looks like what a main character on some sitcom would be reading before a scene begins.
The rippatards are in full meltdown mode, they are in random cg and adjacent chatrooms having full arguments with Vito, evs, dick, and everyone, but said people aren't even in the chats. It's weird one-sided craziness, some of them are even almost forming full sentences.
A lot of rippatards are saying that 40% is better than an upfront payment. In the music industry it is commonplace for an artist to get a percentage of their record sales. These artist get an upfront loan on their record deal before they make music regarding the deal. If they don’t make enough sales, they do need to give the loaned amount/difference back. However most successful musicians make more than the money they are loaned. This is a common reason a lot of one hit wonder rappers go broke. For anyone thinking of taking a deal that involves royalties, make sure they give you money to live on while you’re working on the content. Make sure there are contingencies so if one party doesn’t do their fair part you don’t get fucked.
What if they not gonna publish their book, will Dillard still keep his 40% of idea Of Re-coloured Power Rangers? - since just idea of this comic book already feels like scam bait to be sued by owner of Power Rangers, and if they gonna be really sued then who gonna pay for it author of idea or artist who comeup with designs?
@@skanlines so grown adults aren’t allowed to weigh the risks themselves? Anyone is allowed to disagree. Only time will tell if it works out or not. High risk high reward vs no risk normal reward.
I admire EVS for having real guts. EVS and I probably don’t agree politically, but he’s absolutely right about art and criticism. Eric July is acting like every Marvel or DC writer that ruins a character and then can’t take the heat from disappointed fans of that character.
I had a similar issue. Someone asked me to do work for them, I did the work, now it is always "Oh, I will pay you after it funds..." and they keep pushing the campaign back and back. I put into my contract that I own everything until it is paid, but still, I did all that work for nothing.
The hilarious part is, Eric made a big deal about paying his artists well, and criticized the mainstream for the exact shady shit YF is pulling.

You can have $5000 now, or 40% ownership and the chance to make $500,000. Sounds like a scam.

Both parties agreed to the deal...so there's no argument here.
@@GTOberfest Ethan explained it pretty well, why it was a bad offer.

@skanlynes4789 yeah but he's not involved..people who make bad deals have to live with the consequences
You need to start a comicsgate 2.0.

Eric is in no position to be defending anyone. The dude’s a laughing stock and can’t even defend his own business.
