  • Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

Amen! Cliffe really does have the gift of gab and going tit for tat with every individual he reasons with. God bless this man and his son. Christianity is really not a belief that is based on fairytales or mythology, and it doesn't mean that we throw our brains out. It's just a higher level of thinking based on the natural but more so on the supernatural unseen world, which all NDE experiences, witchcraft seances and demonic possessions show that the supernatural world is just as reql as the natural.

The meaning of Adam Eve and Noah’s names come from what the literal people went through. Adam means dust because he was formed from it. Eve means life because she is mother to us all. Noah means comfort because of the comfort of knowing that God can keep you safe from the world.

I’ve recently been born again as of Nov. 2018. I always believed in God and became a lukewarm Christian over time. I did shrooms, drank, but mostly smoked pot everyday. I look back and can’t believe how patient Jesus has been waiting for me (I’m 39). I have been saved by an angel or Jesus (not sure at the time) at least twice, but possibly 3 times.
A voice told me to let off the gas pedal when I was going through an intersection, as soon as I did, a truck blew a stop sign that would have killed me. I also fell asleep at the wheel another time and WOKE up while driving sitting upright and very much positioned like a robot. I ended up on the other side of town somehow! Fell into a pool’s deep end as a child, somehow my mother knew to check on me and pulled me out.
I had another experience where I was praying for a relative that was brutally murdered and burned alive years prior. I was HIT like a sledgehammer with unexplainable peace and joy. Instantly tears poured out of my eyes and I had the breath sucked out of me, totally winded. It was like I was experiencing the joy of heaven but my human body could not handle it! I also experienced an interaction with several demons in the basement of a psychic lady’s house who summoned them and spoke to them nightly. The fear and anger I felt as their eyes pierced my soul was like nothing of this earth......,over and over and over Jesus was calling me!!! I was too much of a fool to notice, even though I believed in Him!
In November of 2018, after a minor argument with my fiancée, I heard a demon’s voice talk to me telepathically in my mind- “I hate you, I’ll kill you and tear your family apart.” With the most conviction in my soul I commanded that thing to leave my house in the name of Jesus Christ. Every room in the house I yelled at it. I felt our Lord blast through my house and beat those things down! Whoosh gone! I prayed and thanked him and repented for allowing them to get close to me. He talked to me telepathically asking me questions and made me feel the guilt of my sins. Lots of information as a sort of psychic download into my heart and mind simultaneously. Question 1: “After all I’ve done for you, what have you done for Me, and others?” Question 2: “Am I NOT enough for you?” Then, the weight of my sins lifted, it was incredible.
Since that moment, I’ve had no desire to drink, smoke, blaspheme, masterbate, be angry, stressed out or sin at all. Wanting to share love with no other possible explanation. I notice the tiniest signs he puts in my path....I see them right away and chuckle, seeing He really does work in mysterious ways. I fully understand how to have a relationship with him and not need to physically see or hear our relationship. He is incredible people! Let him into your heart! I had felt in my soul the the extremes of joy and sorrow through just some of my life experiences..... Feeling the presence of God and Satan deep inside through strange encounters. For that, I am blessed to KNOW Christianity is the truth, yet I STILL tried to not fully commit.
He wants us all to repent and accept Him. He actually told me this! Don’t think you can sin all your life and God will be OK with it. He really will reward you if you follow with all your heart!! That's awesome story. You've truly been blessed. Satan he preys on the weak and the stronger you spiritually became, the less of a threat to more like a joke he became to u. So glad u have conquered ur demons. I believe in God logically. I understand what u mean ab being lukewarm, and commonly have that very conversation w myself as to my own standing w God. But I have faith and he knows our hearts, our intentions towards others. I still smoke n would even do shrooms, but wouldn't take any drugs or anything chemically made by man. I hope u some more research on Cannabis to really see it's benefits more than anything negative it could bring on. CBD and THC are the 2 basic compounds that it exists in. The CBD compound is a natural herbal compound proven to show it heals the physical body, it doesn't hurt it in at all, impossible for it to hurt the body since since it bonds to pharmaceutical receptors in the body. It prevents and cures a load of illnesses. And it's my belief that THC is the 2nd compound used to help treat the pyche, not the physical but the mental. Studies showing how it helps w depression, also helping cancer patients hungry enough to want to eat. My point is that I hope u don't see anything God made in a negative light bc of corrupt people, a sinful man. Shrooms I believe have helped alot of ppl become more spiritual. You just have know how to separate the bs from the truth. Which even means don't always relate one thing to the other just bc they were happening at the same time during your life. I also have a schizophrenic older brother where I watched how much harm it did to his mentality. The truth is though he should have been smart enough to know not to use it. I know lots of ppl that it's not their thing which I'm totally ok with. I am pro choice, not make it mandatory or anything. But God bless u.

Don't learn or take in his idea or his belief in 'the process of Evolution'. I find him wrong on 1 thing and it is this. Idk what he's talking ab when he says 'Genesis I doesn't contridict the process of Evolution'. It contradicts evolution every way possible..the Bible doesn't say we all originated from the same common ancestor by mutating into over 100,000 diff species.. sorry Cliff you're wrong on this one. The Holy Bible also uses the word 'day' in Hebrew language over thirty something times and in everytime it is used, it is meant to be known as exactly 24 hours. It even says in Corinthians as to the reason God took 7 days to create the world, and it was to establish the work week for mankind. Makes sense to me idk ab u. The words 'evolution' or ' evolution process's cannot be found in the Bible, bc the words didn't exist and for me, it's bc it's not true. The Bible is the truth so it would be in there I would think. Idk why Cliff keeps going on and making reference to 'parallelism', an aspect of poetry. Cliff you are literally making the reference yourself and say that an aspect of poetry is proof of the possibility of evolution as being true, and somehow it's being used in Genesis I. I think you are waaaaaay out of bounds on this one intellectually speaking. It's obvious to see you are not taking Occamms razor scentifically serious. Idk what to tell u my friend other than I hope God opens your eyes on this one so you can see it for the lie it is and deep down you know the reason it was created. Simply put, to take God out of the equation. This is why 80% of all incoming freshman who are believers with faith consider themselves Atheists in less than a year. FACTS.

Don't buy into evolution (adaptation within the same taxonomy family) been the same as Darwinian evolution (variations beyond its taxonomy family), because the issue is not the evidence regarding evolution, is their interpretation of it. "Kent Hovind official" is his UA-cam channel and he upload a video there everyday and he already respond about this same critic you did and about his jail issue on structure, not about tax evasion.
We already talk about the age of the earth about 5 month ago Tom, but here it is again, I believe is around 6000 years old historically speaking, scientifically is impossible since science can't demonstrate a linear climate to assume linear decay.

    • @bonnie43uk
      @bonnie43uk 8 років тому

FernandoP1 - Art Zone Productions I would disagree with you there Juan, science has discovered much about the age of our planet and indeed the universe. We have this information available to us today in the form of the internet. Simply type into Google "The age of the Universe", and pages and pages of information will appear on our laptops, much of this information has come from people in that particular branch of science, such as physics and astronomy, this information has been gathered over many centuries and been tested and re-tested, we have a pretty good idea that it's accurate information. That same information has taken mankind into space, it's extremely precise. A few months ago we actually landed a probe on a passing comet. This set off from Earth in 2004, it took 11 years to reach it's target. Type into google "Rosetta mission". As you know, we have also landed a rover on Mars and we're getting fantastic information about this planet. The point I'm making is that human technology is incredibly accurate, what we know about our surroundings here on Earth and in outer space is dependent on testable, repeatable science. To say the Earth is 6000 years old is a little like saying the distance between New York and London is 3 miles. It's not based on any credible scientific data. And it's wrong by many magnitudes.
Using an ancient book to try and figure out how old the earth is, is very bad science. No school here in the UK would teach such a thing. Kids have access to the internet today and they can check information out for themselves, and they do.
Anyhoo, i know you will disagree with me, but it's good to get your thoughts. Kent Hovind is not somebody I would trust regarding scientific information. His credentials are highly suspect. Where did he learn his information from?, what papers did he study to come up with his theories?

Its often clear to know what's a poem vs what isn't a poem in the Bible, AND what's presented as history. Genesis is history. Its also a mistake to claim parts of the bible as poetry when faced with tough answers. More often than not, its human interpretation that needs further investigation and study. Dr. Hugh Ross in my opinion is by far the best at interpreting the age of the universe as well as the location of the flood without messing with the integrity of the bible. In most cases, we have to study the context of certain words, phrases and context of those words in its original greek/hebrew to fully understand its meaning.

    • @bonnie43uk

+Mike Locke Hi Mike, clearly the bible is made up of various writings over a long period of time, we have older writings from other parts of the globe which have no mention of this Yahweh character, they write about other Gods, every civilization known to man around the world has invented their own Gods. Reading the Old Testament, I get the sense that Yahweh is very similar to man, his emotions are that of a warlord who gets very angry with other tribes, he's certainly a God who demands to be obeyed, he seems to have a lot of jealousy in him, and woe betide any other local tribe who crosses his path. There is little or no mention of any real love of his creation, or a willingness to show any kind of tenderness. Any parent will spend inordinate amounts of time with their children and teach them skills they will need. All parents say 'No' to their children so they know what is good and what is bad, however, a really good parent will say 'No' and then sit down with the child and explain *why* they said no, they will explain the reasons, and consequences for doing something bad so the child has a broader understanding of why it's being told 'No'. Yahweh seems a very bad parent to me, if we are his children there is little or no schooling, we are just told to obey. Yahweh even gets so angry with us, he drowns the lot of us, women, children, babies, animals, ( the fish were spared i guess), save for a family of 8 and a boatload of various animals. You say Genesis is history Mike. I would say it's merely early mankinds attempt to explain the world around him, whoever wrote it knew nothing of other civilizations in other continents. I've no doubt people living in South America at the time knew nothing of this Yahweh character, they were too busy obeying their own God.

    • @MikeLocke
      @MikeLocke 9 років тому +2

+bonnie43uk Tom, the best approach in proving that the Old Testament is true and historical is to discover if the New Testament is true and reliable. Why? because if the New Testament is true and reliable, the Old is also true and reliable because Jesus quoted and spoke of the Old Testament as being true and reliable. To discover if Jesus and the New Testament is true and reliable, you'd have to go through a series of questions and discoveries. The BEST (and easiest to understand) argument for the reliability of the New Testament is found in the book "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be An Atheist" by Frank Turek / Norman Geisler. There are so many easy flaws in your argument, that it would be best for you to first read that book before truly holding onto your position in a debate. For example, I could easily dispute your premiss with sound plausible evidence but then that would only lead you to the question, does a Theistic God exist? If no, then none of the old testament stuff is true. But if Yes, then you'd have to reason there had to been a reason for why God did what he did in the Old Testament. Many things will go unanswered but that's life. But you can rest assure that Jesus was nothing but Love, Mercy and Grace..... AND Jesus claimed to be God. So I'd have to disagree with you on that. ;)

***** Hi Mike, always good to hear from you. I do respect your view, although i respectfully disagree with you my friend. Re: I don't have enough faith to be an atheist book by Geisler and Turek, I am quite familiar with the book. If you are a committed Christian it will re-affirm your faith, no question, the fact it's a best selling book would confirm that. However, the arguments and points they make in the book can equally be rebutted by atheists. One of the guys I subscribe to here on UA-cam made an excellent series a few years ago whereby he reviews well known Christian books, The Turek book being one of them, he does quite a thorough review, chapter by chapter giving the atheist perspective whilst reading large portions of each chapter, his name is Steve Shives, and the video's are entitled "An atheist reads I don't have enough faith to be an atheist". I'm not sure whether you would want to view them it's entirely up to you, but Steve does a good job in rebutting the claims in the original book.
      **********************************************
You say Jesus is Love mercy and Grace, and that Jesus is God, well that bears no resemblance to the God of the Old Testament, Why are the 2 characters so different if they are the same person, .. and if they are, why does Jesus call out to his father on the cross if they are one and the same? The whole dying/resurrection thing for me just has too many flaws in it for me to believe it. God appears to be sacrificing himself to himself which makes no sense, and how can it be a sacrifice if Jesus ends up in heaven? if he ended up in hell forever it would make much more sense, albeit a terrible fate.
You said you could easily dispute my premise, I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on why the God of the Old Testament comes across as an Evil bully, wiping out entire tribes, etc, and also why people on other continents weren't also worshipping him, God seemed very angry with local tribes worshipping rival gods (Thou shalt have no other Gods before me), but didn't seem concerned in the slightest about further away Gods. To be honest, I don't think I've ever heard a Christian explain this.

    • @MikeLocke

+bonnie43uk Tom, here's what you're missing. Your premiss is based on opinion. To summarize your argument, you're saying that because the God of the Old Testament was mean, he can't be real or you can't believe in that God. That argument is built on opinion, not fact. God could very well be all of those things you mention and still be the God that created the universe and all of mankind. He's your God, you're just denying him. Opinion doesn't change absolute truth.
Regarding God the Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. Ok, first off God exist outside our natural laws. He is supernatural. You agree? Now God can choose to create a Son (Jesus) that lives inside our natural laws but possess the same qualities both supernaturally and simultaneously live in our world. Jesus had to take on Human nature to die as a sin offering. Thirdly, God has a spirit, its the Holy Spirit. So three different persons but all one. You're trying to argue God and Jesus using laws within matter, time and space. God operates outside these laws.
Where does it state that God wasn't concerned with far away gods? It doesn't God said thou shalt not worship any other Gods. That's definitive to me to mean no other gods, period.
Lastly, its impossible to easily dispute the points in "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist"...other than just simply not agreeing with it. I'd be happy for you dispute just one of Frank Turek's claims. I watched a few minutes of Steve's video and I get it, he sums it up the bible as "Made up Bull Sh*t"...his words exactly, lol. I love it when you don't agree with something, its just made up BS. :)

    • @bonnie43uk
      @bonnie43uk 9 років тому

+Mike Locke Hi Mike, yes, my premise is based on opinion I guess, that's what these discussions are all about really, opinions. Btw, I'm not saying that because i think God is mean that he can't be real or that i can't believe in God, I don't totally rule God out of the picture, although I am very skeptical. You mentioned absolute truth, I'm not even sure I know what absolute truth is. I think doubting is a fundamental part of being human, it's good to doubt, it makes life more interesting.
Yes, I did know about the God the father, the son and the holy ghost.. i still struggle with the concept of how they differ. You ask me whether i agree that God is supernatural, I agree with that in the same sense that Superman is supernatural. As an actual real entity, no, I don't believe in God, if i see some credible evidence I will change my mind. I think this is something we've discussed before no doubt. People do ask me 'what would you constitute as proof of God'??, Well, thats a good question, I have a fascination with miracles ( something that would defy the known laws of physics), so, if a group of Christians prayed for a particular amputee victim to be healed, and the next day, he/she had their limb restored, I would be queuing up at my local church as a new convert to Christianity, I give you my word of honour ( or honor as you Americans spell it).
Now of course, i know this will not happen because miracles of that nature don't happen, But I'm guessing God could do it if he so wished. Now the answer i get is that God won't do that because he's not here to do magical tricks or to perform for my benefit. Well, he seems to intervene all the time if we're led to believe what Christians say, he healed this person of cancer, he did this, he did that. It was a miracle from God. But God won't heal an amputee.. even though it would leave us atheists without a leg to stand on ( excuse the pun). Let me ask you this Mike, in all honesty, is it your belief that God wants me to have a relationship with him? Does he Love me?, I'm sure you will say yes. Maybe you could pray for an amputee to be healed on my behalf if he won't do it for me. With that one gesture, God could convert thousands of atheists in one fail swoop. I'd be at the front of the queue. If God can create a universe, healing an amputee would be as easy as blinking for him.
Regarding Frank Tureks book Mike, you say you'd be happy if i disputed just one of his claims. I know that various times in the book Frank made reference to a university or college professor ( an atheist i believe), whom he stumped, or made the professor look bad by using some kind of Christian logic. (I will try and find the reference if i can for you). Who exactly was this professor?, what was his name, and is he around to acknowledge the particular incidents actually occurred. I think Turek doesn't name him, that's not to say it didn't happen, but it should be easily verifiable to find the person in question. I'm not calling Frank Turek a liar, but I think there may be a possibility these incidents may be embellished on Franks part. It's a common human trait, sometimes events we recall from the past we get facts wrong.

"To believe only in the idea of God and not God himself." Cliff said he liked that in his closing statement. That seems to encapsulate the faith of the modern Orthodox Christian in America. Our relationship with God is what is important to love God, we can't love an idea, a concept, we love a being. We have an eye single to the glory of God, a being and a relationship of love. God is not an immaterial idea, heaven is not an immaterial realm, God is transcendent perfected spiritual material not worldly mundane material.

That is still up for discussion. I believe the universe is 14b years old. I also believe in a local flood that wiped out all of mankind. I've never met Cliffe but i enjoy his video's and his interaction with young students, I am an atheist, and I'd like to think if we ever met I'd be one of his atheist friends. As many of the people who read these comments know, I like to give the 'other side' to some of his arguments, I'm sure Cliffe would agree it's good to think and discuss this topic of God/Jesus/Life and how we live our lives. I've also repeated many times, if Christianity works for you, embrace it. Life is tough for many people, I do understand the appeal of Christ, but as i see it, it also has many flaws.

+Maz Hi Maz, good question. I was never really comfortable with all these biblical stories, they seemed to lack credibility, but when you are raised in a Christian culture, where adults all around you are believing this stuff, as a child, you think they must know something i don't. But as I got older, my skepticism only grew. I'm at a point in my life now where i'm virtually certain Christianity is based on conjecture. When it comes right down to the nitty gritty of 'did this stuff really happen'? .. I'm not convinced by the evidence, I think we have spoken about this before if memory serves me right. I just have too many questions which I don't seem to find good answers for. Not only that, i don't agree with the premise of Christianity that we must accept Jesus in order to be saved. Saved from what?, a separation from Christ? What is this cast iron proof that he even existed?, I'm sure I've mentioned to you in the past, outside of the Gospels, there is little if any concrete proof of Jesus. It's a great subject to discuss though, hence why I enjoy these chats. As i always say, if it works for you, go with it. :-)

***** Hi , thanks for your kind words, yes, I think that it's always more productive to have honest debate about this issue of Jesus, rather than to completely dismiss it as nonsense. I was raised to believe it and it's played a major part in my upbringing. But I no longer believe it now, I do, as you say, keep an open mind, I would be willing to change my view if I saw credible evidence, but unfortunately I don't. You call it "The truth", well, I'm not seeing this 'truth', and the more i look, the less i find. I'm still searching, over the past, I'd say 10 years or so, I've taken an interest in the bible, I feel a lot of what I was told was simply indoctrination. I know that's not a nice word to use about somebody's honest faith, but when you see it from a perspective outside of Christianity, the whole thing looks completely different. I've been accused of being a troll by some of the people I've chatted with in these comment sections in previous video's, because I don't accept what Cliffe is saying as fact, and question his beliefs. But it's a subject I'm fascinated with. I don't tell anyone to stop believing it, if it gives you comfort and solace in life, I urge you to carry on believing it. But it's not worked for me, I've found comfort and solace in understanding how the bible came to be, and how easily a whole religion can spring from the human mind and become a massive force. Our 'truths' appear to be very different. Feel free to ask me anything and I will give you a truthful answer.

The story of Noah is not a parable but it is clearly a historical recap of a true event.
My reasoning is that there are too many details for it to be a parable. How the arc was built, the materials, the sizes and other fine details of the flood. Parables are normally short punchy representations or an example of choices and behaviours to benifit believers, also to help them remember and visualise an example.

If you think it's a true historical event, and the story predates Christianity, then some aspects of Christianity are false since, if I remember correctly, one of the earliest mentions of the story was in the Epic of Gilgamesh from the Sumerians.

But just because the earliest known writing predates the Bible doesn't prove its copied. Over 99% of all history has been lost, and more things are being discovered all the time.
An easy explanation is that both stories come from the same source, but details got changed over time...such as Gilgamesh stating the ark was 2x as high and the rain only lasted 6 days. But most of the main parts of the account are consistent with both.
To go further on this, many many cultures on earth have flood accounts mixed in with their creation story, and most of these have some form of animal saving also.
Coincidence?...maybe. But also something you would expect to see if the Flood was a real event.

“Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered.”

Our time is set by the regularity of our sun for determining days, months, seasons, years and we are promised cold and heat, springtime and harvest as long as the earth endures. But when God was creating the world, the sun had not yet been set in the sky, and the earth was formless. There was something there since God's spirit hovered over the deep. We also know that time runs faster or slower depending on where one is in the universe. Einstein theorized time dilation and I think it is quite possible that this is part of the riddle of Genesis' creation days. It does not diminish God's creative power for he did indeed speak life.

Jesus quoted Genesis as REAL HISTORY - a real historical event. Sorry Cliff, love your work but your wrong on that one. "And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female," ~ Matthew 19:4
If that is not a historical statement, then I have no idea what a historical statement looks like. Evolution is a retarded, non-scientific religion. Dogs produce Dogs, Cats produce cats end of story.
"And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good." ~ Genesis 1:12

+BecomingMike Oh I know about micro evolution (stupid term) and how it describes variations within kinds. Dogs produce a variety of dogs and may have a common ancestor, DOG. Dog, wolf, coyote and Fox probably had a common ancestor, DOG KIND. That is where it ends. Anything else, is pure imagination.
If you put a frog in a blender, no amount of time, will turn that FROG SOUP back into a FROG over millions of years. Does not happen. Only takes place in ones imagination. DNA frequency exists and can change different variations within a KIND, but genetic complexity increasing over time is pure fantasy.
DNA similarities proves common designer. Not a common ancestor.

Hmm the language thing again. Ok, let me explain something to you. What was it originally, a language. What did the modern English we speak today become. Another Language.
We started with a language, and developed a new language. Words to convey meaning.
No cats and dogs are not the same kind as they do not reproduce.
I have a question for you? Where did we come from? How did non-organic molecules evolve into organic molecules. I won't get into Cosmic and planetary evolution as we will be here for "millions of years".
People who believe they came from a rock may contain some basis in fact. Their heads still contain them.

+newygreek Evolution has more to do with adaption to environment than anything else, most of the time the changes to generations are so tiny you wouldn't notice them, Imagine taking a picture of your own face every morning, it would show no visible sign of change whatsoever, but you do get older, thats a kind of comparison. You may not agree with evolution, but it's a fact my friend. The sheer tonnage of information we have on evolution surpasses anything in any other branch of science.

I've appreciated much of what Cliffe has to say as an apologist for the Christian faith but in the matter of evolution I find myself very strongly disagreeing with him. Micro-evolution (adaptation, mutation, natural selection) occurs, certainly, but the "goo-to-you-by-way-of-the-zoo" macro-evolution idea is too fraught with serious problems to be a viable scientific theory. And increasingly now this is coming to the fore - not among theistic scientists - but among secular ones. Cliffe does a serious disservice to the Christian worldview in asserting that macro-evolution and the biblical narrative are in accord. They most certainly are not!
