My first concert was Iggy Pop at the L.A. stardust ballroom in 1979, was broadcast live on KROQ and released as a bootleg many years later called "heroin hates you". The stage ended up falling apart and I was pushed up onto it. Got to touch Iggy! I was in high school at the time. This girl I really liked asked me to go. She was hanging onto/inside one of the huge speakers in the crowd. I remember looking out at her when I was on stage and her flipping me off! I married that girl in 1989 and we just had our 30th wedding anniversary. When iggy did the tour for Ready to die we saw him in Denver. He stage dove right over my wife partially landing on her and she finally forgave me! We waited after the concert by his bus and my wife got a picture with him. Thanks Iggy!

I have watched them good voices drift with age. Nick Cave's , Peter Murphy's...and i suspect it was the bargain of life itself to trigger that process.Still not in the case of Iggy.This man's voice remains authentically deep like it propely suits to an art dedicated life. I will never forget the first time I listened the album The Stooges. Everybody was talking about the music of the Strokes, and that made me enter in this kind of music. The Strokes, The Libertines, etc. But The Stooges or Joy Division is another league. Was discovering the "Holy Grail".
That's sure. I, too, remember my first time of meeting his music. It was on a festival and I said to my girlfriend " let's check the stooges out, they're gonna play here in the late afternoon" (it was after their reunion and I hadn't listened to Iggy and/or the Stooges before that). The concert was so cathartic, that the power of this music still holds me. :)
