Mr.Cavill please hire our brovitor Baldermort as a writer-advisor for the scripts and narrative perspectives. No but srsly, Im sure this GigaChad doesnt have the time to, but if he watches youtube wh40k he must get to know and appreciate your work.
Baldemort: “So let us begin in Earnest” Me in my head: “or possibly frank, whichever of the two buggers” Kronan Da Cunnin has conditioned my expectations hahaha
Change is an inevitable fact of life. It’s how you react to it that truly matters. Also, a setting (think Dr. Who, DC, Marvel, Star Trek, etc.) can constantly renew and refresh itself, and (if done properly) thereby stay viable and exciting. Besides, 40K as a universe is so vast, so obscure, so uncertain, that there’s a nearly unlimited scope for all sorts of stories that can still be told and at so many different levels. And don’t forget that the time distortion element in 40K adds a whole other layer to the story telling here. And from a pure money point of view, with the setting’s growing popularity and mainstreaming (not necessarily a bad thing), GW isn’t going to be stupid enough to kill the golden 40K goose by bringing about some grand finale with health care for every Imperial citizen, and the Astartes becoming unemployed. Have faith Sir Baldemort!😅
Gladiator battle tanks are a good tank for any new player for the hobby because it is easy to make and paint, though in lore I almost tend to forget the fact that it even exists considering that it rarely is a center piece in the stories of the grim darkness of the setting.
16:07- Actually, there is an excerpt from Dark Imperium that confirms that Repulsors, at least, _can_ be dropped from orbit, with their Gravitic Drives forming a cushion for them to coast down to the surface of a planet. They cannot, however, get back up on their own power.
The story of Masamuni and Muramasa is a tale I hope GW takes to heart in the coming years. For both of these smith's blades were uncompromising in their creation. But one was a wicked blade that cut all it came in contact with, and the other a blade of peace, which cut only that which it needed to. Change is an inevitability of story crafting.. Will they choose the Muramasa Blade as their tool and change with disregard, or will they choose the Masamuni Blade, and change only what needs to be changed? For all of us "Old Ghoul's" sake, I do hope it is the latter.
I’d say they lost a lot of capabilities for the tank when the cybernetic revolt came in, no human optimized computer can react fast enough to tank rounds, rockets, and bullets, making defensive technology improbably. Unless you some how involve a space marine servitor system with the helmet involved then you might be able to place a point defence system on it. Maybe it might be fast enough, hell I wonder if they put custodies servitors on their ships for reaction time and defence abilities.
Thank you Balders you know Wargear Wednesday are my absolute favorites! I love the gladiator, it’s an amazing Tank! This episode is a new favorite of mine!
Anytime I see these floating vehicles- I am reminded of the Hovertanks and Combat Cars of one of my other favorite SF Military formations: _Hammer's Slammers!_
Yes- I know that the Frisian's armor uses air-cushioning rather than Gravitics, but they're just as nimble... and their plasma weaponry is comparable to the Hotshot Lasguns fielded by the Astra Millitarum.
Mr Balder’s sir, that was one of your best videos I can recall, I genuinely waited in glee for 19 minutes and 50 seconds for you to say Melty Melty and you did not disappoint! Excellent script on this one - looking forward to more! I don’t expect a reply, but do you happen to think GW will one day redo and upscale the Land Raider akin to the Terminator upscale? I’d love it.. so long as they didn’t turn it into a floaty boi! All the best 😬
Thank you brother Spleen. I'm nervous about any changes to the Landraider. They should be upscaled somewhat, but they are pretty chunky on a board already and the models are never ever even close to the size for the capacity they purport to carry. I;m torn on that one. I hope they do not junk the Landraiders. I was elated to see the terminators retained. Even if they do make the old ones look diddy. But Landraiders? Yikes.
It's a good looking model and I will probably own one at some point but, for me anyway, it doesn't feel like imperium tech. I would have preferred a landraider xl or something similar with tracks. Brutal and a throwback. Saying that, I still have an A-Z in my car....
Battletech has shown that change is not anathema to setting. At least not all change. The jihad and onwards has been mixed at best, but the Star League, Succession Wars, Clan Invasion, and FedCom civil war all have their fans. The problem some people have with 40k is that it is changing at all, but for others, it's the ways they are changing (direction and/or quality of execution), and some are just upset it's changes going forward and not retcons to what they would prefer, or that there isn't enough change. Not to mention, GW sort of wrote themselves into a corner having not just factions, but named characters people have invested not just a lot of effort and emotions into, but lots of money on the models and centered strategies around, so now can't do things like kill them off or have them fall to chaos (unless they respawn like the Avatar of Kane and Swarm Lord, in which case they suffer the Warf effect).
Smh cawl, I just appreciated the setting was working from the library of human knowledge being burned down and pieced back together from its ashes 3 times until what was enter an access code for the door to open has now become an elaborate ritual centered around appeasing the door, just so happens the ritual involves hitting 1234 on the access pad.
Been considering buying one for over a year now, but modern GW kits are too expensive to buy putside of bundle boxes, and putting together an Impulsor made me want to suck off a shotgun so I don't want to build another Primaris vehicle as long as I live.
I'm hoping that this era of "resurgence" in the Imperium is part of a "long-con." If I were to play devil's advocate, the grim darkness has lingered so long that it to some extent has become meaningless. Rather than let it stagnate we need to renew it and the best darkness is found in the shadows of the brightest light. All this "HEROIC ERA" stuff that is happening now in the setting, mythic beings are clashing for the Imperium, at the end all of that stuff will be gone. The Primarch's will again vanish, the Imperium will resume its crumbling but Chaos will also be put back into check (more Eye of Terror less Great Rift). Basically, all these heroes are gonna kill each other and seeing the Imperium crumbling yet again in the face of what seemingly could have been will drag us all into grim darkness.
It could be a cool thing if it was a cycle that kept on repeating Things are rotting, then seemingly getting better, then getting worse until they stagnate and rot against; this repeating ad finitum until something truly catastrophic ends it all
Heres hoping for another retcon so the Primaris vehicles can be sent back in to the Fiery Chasm from whence they came 😀 how can they press the holy Aquila in to the ground if they have no tracks”
I mean I don't know what the trepidation is to speak, what to me appears to be the obvious. Under the influence of new investors Black Rock and Vanguard GW sold out the Warhammer setting for money. If it were just that maybe Warhammer could survive, but of course that's not how it works. This exact thing happened to D&D and a number of other companies. Same investors, same trajectory: after the exploitative sales techniques comes the political re-education of the setting. We're already seeing it.

GW: "Baldermort is Henry Cavill."
Me: "...we are not worthy."
@@TomFynn What a 🤯 that would be if true...
Don't care if the tank is good or bad, I'm here for the story and lore...and boy... Exactly that's on the menu right now.

Rofl!!! Ya got me. I missed that opportunity. :)
Kronan knows where to insert the...pointy bit.
That is one of the best things about Wh40k:
Unique Vehicles and Factions.
Thank you for this Warhammer 40,000 tribute, this your Wednesday Warhammer 40,000 tribute.
And thank you brother Bradley for your support. Always.
I love your mixture of lore and stories, this is an unique feature and it helps to listen to the dry lore.
you had me at tank, and lore on tanks

Your videos are always filled with warmth and kindness. Thank you for your generosity and openness!🍾⚽️🛣
My outlook is indeed grim for any corporate adaptation of 40k for the modern audience. Any betting on how bad it will be?
60/40 in favour of ‘bad’. But I still have hopes. :)
We got Cavil to lead the charge in this project. That Secret Level animation as well. They've got to count for something.
In Cavill we hope 🤞

Awesomely done storytelling as always, here's a herty thumbs up. 👍💯🏆✨️
History is a story without end... so 40K... can be technically... a History...
Lancer is the best variant of the gladiator
The quality of your videos is always top notch! It's a pleasure to watch and learn something new.🤝🍓🌇

It's the worst tank in 40k.
Nah. That’s the…. Phew. There are quite a few options there. :)
I'd take a Chimera, Leman Russ, *Rhino* or Land Raider, Falcon, Hammerhead, Fire Prisim, Predator, Spartan, or *anything* non Prime Anus
