hey ross! i really hope you see this. i'm a ultramarathon runner from finland. i thought i'd share some of my mantras to help you through hard times: i don't think doing hard things makes you a hard person. i think a hard person does hard things while no one is watching. impossible is only difficult times x. solve one difficult thing at a time, and nothing is impossible. i like the way you're tackling the whole thing with a big heart and a smile, without any macho nonsense. it's rare! you're an exceptional example for the young guys watching this. keep it up! it's important.
Always keeping us motivated Ross! Every time I wake up I think, "He's probably swimming in freezing waters right now" which pushes me to accomplish my goals for the day. Keep at it!,
Ross, you're amazing. It's so apparent that you are such a joyful person. More often than not, when the camera pans by you or your head is poking out of the water, there somehow manages to be a smile on your face which is amazing. Keep stuffing them apples in your pockets and finding ways to stay positive.
Incredible man! Really so impressive on every level imaginable. Nobody can watch these videos and not root for you with all their heart because of how charismatic you are
I have watched each week, what I love most is your positivity but also remaining humble. You're not banging on about how great you are despite you clearly being great. Really inspiring stuff, people can learn a lot from you. Keep it going, and all the best
You are doing fantastic Ross . Such an " inspiration " (im 61 yrs) you have made me decide that i will do my longer swim coming up Sep . Cant wait to see you finish. AMAZING and Matt and all crew.
At the start I thought you were just a nutcase swimming a long distance. I personally can't swim so the thought of doing this is scary. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I still think your a nutcase swimming a long distance but the planning, logistics and heart you have and do is something worth acknowledging and inspiring to. Also watching from New Zealand, you should swim around us for the next big swim
These videos are so helpful, I’m feeling pretty down myself just now and this shows that there is hope and happiness and I admire what you are doing and hope you can keep going and get back too Margate
Ross what kind of visibility do you have in the ocean, you mentioned you can see the bottom of the floor? Swimming in dark and cloudy seems terrifying! Love your videos ross tha boss
Ross you are absolutely inspiring, I'm having on a bit of an endurance challange next month and you are really helping me focus my lifestyle and trainin, keeping up!!
Everyone at Grantham Water Polo Club is following your progress Ross......you have come a long way since the early morning training sessions. Awesome!!
Ross I'd never heard of you before this swim and at the beginning I thought it might be a big PR exercise. As I've followed you I've nothing but admiration . I have a couple of questions. 1) How do you stay so positive. It does not seem there is ever a negative thought in your mind. 2) You've broken loads of records but your half way. Do you feel confident in finishing? You are smashing it lad. We need more episodes!!!
I usually don’t post comments but you motivated me to get back into nature after a disc basically exploded in my lower back, now I’m training to for rugby at grad school and pushing for more. Your down to earth personality and drive are two traits that are hard to find, especially together.
Thank you. I'm a physical therapist and you change my point of view on what is human body capable of with right mindset. I actually use ross as motivation for my patient that with right attitude you can achieve great things or cure your injury. Wish you all the best. When you finish, ocean will prepare for you not you for it :D
i should say, in South Dakota, USA, swimming is kinda popular among kids. (~5-18) the longest event in our meets is what we call a mile, or the 1500m free. The 800 and 1500 are my favorite, and perhaps best events. swimming those tiny distances is way more mental than non-swimmers think. I find the mental aspects of Ross's swimming fascinating!
1500 Cuber I agree, this comments wasn't meant to make fun of what he said, I relate to what he says about entertaining himself, except I do it for different things that aren't swimming.
I gotta be honest buddy lol You'd expect a world record holder to be like Michael Phelps....you're literally achieving greatness! As a soccer/football fan the way I see it is you're the Liecester City of swimming! Nobody at the start thought you'd place 1st....nobody thought you had a chance. But here you are with the World Record, you're still swimming, you still have a very positive attitude! Many of us would have given up after 2 hours of swimming :P 99% of people wpuldnt even challenge you knowing there's Jellyfish in the water! You're an animal Ross! 👌🤙🤛✌👏
Absolutely amazing job boss! Been following your progress closely since the beginning! I wondered if you, were worried about long term affects on your body tho?
Very unique personality and mindset. You motivate a lot of people Ross! GO GO GO GO
I watched every single chapter of this series and I can only thank you for them! That’s what I call great television.
hey ross! i really hope you see this.
