    Nobody can become financially successful over night. They put in background work but we tend to see the finished part. Fear is a dangerous component, hindering us from taking bold steps we need in other to reach our goals.

      What I have learned is the hardest part of investing is your own psychology. You have to overcome the fear of losing. Instructors can tell you this until they are blue in the face, but it does not emotionally prepare you for it. I think this is one of the reasons to look for "Meaning" when looking for "wonderful businesses" that are on sale.

    Hi Phil., I have no clue how option works. I heard of option and investing stock but I never took the time to really look into it because of fear and what I have heard and it was not good. But that is about to change. I am looking forward to the 3-day Virtual Investing Workshop coming up soon.

    Hi, I have signed up for a workshop and looking forward to it. For options, the examples that would do well with this strategy, would be the stocks that generally stay at a certain price and doesn't move much? So we can collect the premiums? I know we want to own the stocks since they follow the 4M's, but if it is a stock that stays relatively still, that appears it would also work for this kind of strategy? Anyways, not sure if I fully understand, so looking forward to the workshop. Hope I get to meet Phil. :)

    Complete noob here (subscribed after watching this). I had to listen twice (just woke up!) and I got it, however a simple side by side diagram on a piece of paper would have helped a lot when talking about counterintuitive concepts such as "the buyer can sell or the seller is obligated to buy" (3:16). One thing that's still not clear to me though: at 2:59: "for a specified amount of time" - how does this "amount of time" come into play? The stock has to be sold/bought when either its price reaches the strike price or the specified amount of time elapses? Or the right to sell / obligation to buy only applies during that said amount of time?

      @dan-nutu 2 роки тому

      Thanks. That was a bit of a surprise, I would have assumed that the transaction had to happen also when the time elapsed.

    • @etcollier
      @etcollier 2 роки тому

      If the underlying instrument (stock, ETF, etc.) doesn't reach the strike price by expiration, the seller has no obligations and keeps all of the paid premium. If the price drops below the strike price (for puts) before expiration, the buyer could require you to purchase the stock at the strike, but that is rare. If the price is getting close to the strike and you don't want to purchase the stock, you can buy back the put at the current price any time prior to expiration. I didn't understand this at first. Another thing I didn't understand is that the option price changes with the stock price and several other factors such as time decay. Research the "greeks" on options to understand that better.

    Index options are better than Stock options. Stocks are highly vulnerable to news and other corporate actions events. So a big gap up or gap down will cause huge problem to Options sellers. Also liquidity is poor in stock options when compared to index options. Retailers are always better off selling index options 😎😎😎

    • @e.sanoop110
      @e.sanoop110 2 роки тому

      @@SpeedbirdHeavy Hi Carole. Agreed to ur points. But I feel stock options selling is dangerous especially for retailers because stocks can have huge Gap up or Gap down overnight and individual stocks can be easily manipulated by the Smart money whereas it's difficult to manipulate an entire Index. I am an options seller BTW. I buy options only for Hedging purposes for my weekly Iron Condor strategy.

    • @adamnealis
      @adamnealis 9 місяців тому

      @@e.sanoop110 IMO options are treated as "risky" only because of what happens if you buy an options contract. When you sell a put or a covered call you already know the worst case scenario.

    Hi Phil, first of all thanks for all the great content. I would love to hear your opinion on what has been taking place in the market over the past months - especially the extreme volatility we have been witnessing and the sell off since the beginning of this year. My personal belief is that we could be witnessing the start of a great recession. I have been buying puts against multiple small cap tech indices since way back in September, and I'm finally taking profits after pretty substantial amount of losses. This goes without saying that I've been extremely bearish towards the mania of a stock market we've experienced over the past year - the fed's injections, zero interest rates, retail frenzy and overall market exuberance. I am still holding a lot of mid term put options across all markets as I believe the crash is only beginning, as our economy is facing a lot of issues - inflationary pressures, historic margin debts etc etc... What are your thoughts on the overall market right now? Would love to hear your take! Thanks again
