The best thing about this change is that you cannot just rush the main base on your own and would need to also rely on allies. This really feels like a wargame now!
There's also an emphasis on timing and placement of your offense: at 3:26 there's the mention of "taking advantage of their openings or attacking them with Arts" for depleting Fortitude (it seems that at certain moments your regular attacks can deal Fortitude damage while Battle Arts will always do so), Tactics' effectiveness is conditional (e.g. the Flaming Volley at 6:00 reduced a Mighty Yuan Shu General's Fortitude because of the height difference), and the Change Character and Musou gauges seem to accumulate really slowly compared to Bravery (the resource for Battle Arts) so they should be saved up for big damage bursts (e.g. at 8:45 annihilating a shield wall with a Musou Attack instead of having to chip through as in the beginning of the battle, and later on swapping to Huang Gai when the player can't otherwise break through to Yuan Shu as the Protagonist). Oh, and the Tokyo Game Show demo revealed that instead of a separate Rage Gauge, the War God Rage (the ol' Musou Rage) now requires a full Musou gauge to activate.
I don't know what you're talking about and don't know do you actually play any games, since these things have been around for a long time (They just added some defensive tactics for the enemies). It's true that there are stages that allow you to enter important enemy areas and take down Bosses quickly (At most 5), but most of the remaining stages force you to follow escorts and follow instructions of allied troops to open gates or overcome enemy tactics (Winds blowing uphill, rolling stones, firestorms, spiked walls, cannons, rain of arrows... in 6 you even have to protect people Chariot builders to destroy the city walls under a rain of arrows). 😑
@@devaridproject30 Even with those mechanics you hardly feel the presence of allies. The way allies and AI work in this new game is completely different from what I see
I really hope we get a demo soon. My only Musou games played have been the Hyrule Wariors games on Switch and both are so addicting. Ready to dive into Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors after Origins.
Honestly there are so many popular franchise themes that can go on with large-scale Musou battles, that way they can get more creative freedom on working with the lore instead of reusing and recycling the same battles from the Three Kingdoms and Warring States era. Hyrule Warriors games were clear examples of successful non-DW/SW related Musou game KT released. Year 15 of hoping for a Super Sentai-themed Musou game, felt like that concept should be a no-brainer to make.
I said this in another video, the camera seems abit too close for 1v1000 but against officers it's Fine... I hope its adjustable. This might be peak Dynasty warriors!! I wonder if we'll get an empire version of Origin. I'll be sick with this gameplay but it definitely lacking in the roster side.
Too many QTEs and slow motion in combat would greatly affect the hack & slash experience, however this is probably the only way Koei can continue to develop this series, in a more tactical direction IMO.
I honestly very much look forward to this game. I may prefer the more straightforward attacks from 6-8, but the tactical manoeuvres are really fascinating. Furthermore, I will be very interested on how we will see the later generations. *When I say "straightforward", I do mean you immediately attack the enemy. Meanwhile for this game, we have a lot of winding up, much like Dark Souls.
Based on the Tokyo Game Show demo, this is specifically for this video's two weapons -- the double-edged straight Sword moveset is more straightforward in the classic fashion while the Guandao and curved saber (Podao?) strong attacks can be charged up as you saw here.
I don't necessarily mean charging up, it's more about how the characters swing their weapons. Even with the protagonist using his own sword, it feels slower compared to Cao Pi's longsword in DW6. It's even more apparent when you use the guandao here. Feels so sluggish compared to the mace movesets from 6 to 8.
@@TheDeisasori I believe that it's a byproduct of this game de-emphasizing combo length compared to previous titles, to the point that there doesn't even appear to be a combo count on-screen at all.
In addition to that, when you're not controlling the Companion they still exist in the battle as a NPC ally with whom, at the Change Character gauge's halfway point, you can even do an Extreme Musou Attack (the old Double Musou Attack) with! Unfortunately, I'm not aware of whether or not the player can give orders to them (unlikely due to the character's 'lore status' versus how critical the Companion is to their force) or if they'll simply follow you around...
The gameplay of this looks awesome. I hope the higher difficulties really make you need to get the tactics right to succeed. Love having objectives pop up that impact the course of the battle. Love that you can dodge and parry. Looks really promising l.
I don't know about "getting the tactics" right, however I believe that on said higher difficulties well-timed/placed use of your own Tactics (e.g. height-advantage Volleys already reduce enemy officers' Courage and thus Fortitude) and Musou Attacks, and thwarting enemy Grand Tactics will be even more important.

THIS GAME NEEDS TO HAVE CUSTOM CHARACTER CREATION, ONLINE CO-OP OR PVP (6-15 PLAYERS EACH TEAM) AND A HUGE OPEN WORLD WHERE WHOLE ONLINE COMMUNITY CAN INVADE OR CONQUER HUGES LANDS (COUNTY, PROVINCES, COUNTRIES)
This is looking great! I can’t wait to get my hands on this. One thing I hope will be in the game is the presence of 3rd party battles, usually done under Lubu’s story but there were a few other ones where another force shows up in yellow on the map
Switchable characters mid battle? Wasnt expecting that. Its a good move to add some variety without having to make the 100+ roster of characters for each game. Will putting Ma Chao on a horse still be broken OP i wonder.
The playable characters are on a time limit, you only get to use them for a very short time (until a special bar is depleted) and then you're forced to switch back to the origins protagonist. They also don't level up or have any equipment slots etc.
I know i said it before but it's not a Dynasty Warriors 10 as it's more like a reboot as Tomohiko Sho worded as a reborn Dynasty Warriors. "The path you choose will lead a new world of the Three Kingdoms, so please enjoy this reborn Dynasty Warriors Origins. so yeah people needs to understand it's more like a reboot. the producer posted on Twitter/X that Origins "will serve as the foundation for the future of Dynasty Warriors."

This looks fun. I can’t believe the did it. I hope it is fun.
Switchable characters mid battle? Wasnt expecting that. Its a good move to add some variety without having to make the 100+ roster of characters for each game. Will putting Ma Chao on a horse still be broken OP i wonder.
It was a thing when they made Fire Emblem Warriors. Good to know DW Origin has it too!
Boy have I got news for you, the game only goes up until the battle of Chibi, you wont even see Ma Chao.
orz. Wait for part 2.
@@mirrorblade6268 I hope this is the DW7 to DW8, honestly.
The playable characters are on a time limit, you only get to use them for a very short time (until a special bar is depleted) and then you're forced to switch back to the origins protagonist. They also don't level up or have any equipment slots etc.
Reminds me of the Kingdom anime!
Ill be buying this one!
12:28, 15:19 I see Yue Jin using a spear or clone moveset from Zhao Yun
Its a shame you can't customize your character. It'd be an insta buy if you could but they always gotta cut some kind of corner.
Gonna feel like a true warrior of the three kingdoms in this one! Glad to see they are bouncing back from DW9.
When will pre-orders will go live?
Steam says at Dec, IIRC. Not sure why pre-orders open so late if they’re already advertising it from now.
No Playable Lu Bu is heresy!!!
Oh looks get the old vibe feels of Kingdom Under Fire
Man I miss that series.
Koei should REALLY crib from that series.
Wait, we're getting unit tactics and completely new attack animations!? Take my money. This looks sick
I hope many "what if" in this game
Yeeeessssss. This looks so good. I wonder if the footage was captured on a regular PS5 because if it was, it's gonna be insane on the Pro.
Damn, this looks more than just a hack and slash dynasty warriors iteration! It looks fresh and I'm all for it!
Ordering the soldiers to do special attacks reminds me of Bladestorm, i like it alot. I don't know if you have a similar weapon system as Samurai Warriors 5 but i hope because you play one major character, that the different weapons and skills can carry it.
This format would be good to use if they made the kingdom manga into a game
I hope the keyboard and mouse controls will be solid
Is this back to having unique movesets?
yes...they give up on endlessly adding characters , they're more focus on customizable movement sets/skills and switchable weapons..
Why couldn't the Empire game's stratagem system be like this?
Played DW4 for the first time on PS2 and after that I bought every single game plus the alternatives like hyrule warriors, gundam warriors and Fire emblem warriors!!! until the unfaithful day of DW9….
This one looks extremely promising and I can’t wait to get this!!!
Play as one of a half dozen characters alongisde your OC that for some reason isnt a create a character! Dead in the water this.
