#Vinesauce #Vinny #Inscryption
The fact that Vinny couldn’t understand the inherent power of infinite squirrels is both unsurprising and immensely frustrating. But I’m glad he’s enjoying the game, I honestly am.
Same here haha
Honestly I think the better ability for squirrels is Unkillable or Replicate Squirrel over Infinite Squirrels.
Either way, I don’t think Vinny understands sigils in the first place, knowing how he got taken out by the Alpha’s ability and putting a non-anti-air card to block a card that flys.
@@Zack_Zander Item Squirrels are overpowered too
I think he understood, he just didn't get why he couldn't use multiple totems and the whole totem swapping thing...he was confused when the bullfrog got the infinite power but It's the totem head on top of the device that signifies what gets empowered...not sure why the snake head includes the bullfrog...must be the way most people lump reptiles and amphibians together...so the Squirrel head means squirrel cards get the empowerment, the snake head means reptiles and amphibians get empowered, the eagle head means birds get empowered, and the wolf head means canines get empowered
He didn't correlate the head of the totem to which cards were being effected...so Vinny blind as always
"Let's see how I do without chat helping me" *loses to a boulder during his first match*
Just absolute beansing of every possible choice in the worst way possible until death.
@@VulpeRenard It's a skill really
It didn’t last long at all
I don't think he gets that you're supposed to avoid being attacked, which is the entire reason you can see the enemy's move ahead of time
Chat would've been like:
"Vinny..."
I'm not salty, cause I get it, it's a game, no big deal
But oh my God, when Vinny missed the squirrel 3 blood totem synergy I actually just paused the video, went to my computer, and bought the game. If I'm Gunna complain about him vineblinding good synergies I may as well go play it myself and do them lol
Vinny smoothbraining got me to buy Slay the Spire and then this game. Both times I was like "I can do this better god damn it"
The proper response. Vinny knows how to share a good game
I did the same thing. Best 11 hours I could have spent. Good fucking game. My only wish is that the beginning was a much longer game on it's own. This game's card mechanics are way too good for it to also be a meta piece.
@@mjddjm96 its the reason i bought Dicey Dungeons but it was then i realized i have lots to learn
Achievement unlocked: Sensible Spectator
A fun thing I discovered with The Moon: if you have a stinky card, The Moon literally cannot do anything and just sits there while you kill it. Leshy even says "This doesn't even make any sense! The moon can't smell! This is not how I imagined this fight going..."
any card with the poison sigil will also instantly kill it. Had that happen my first time lol
The Moon can also be killed by the Adder's instant-kill sigil, which is fun.
While stinky does work, if you run out of cards to draw, the Moon actually starts to gain 1 attack per round passed
"How did you like that LESHY!? I PISSED ON THE MOON YOU IDIOT!!!!"
That's pretty funny. If you have the scissors item, can you just cut the moon? Seems like it has a lot of other weaknesses.
Oh god it hurts so much each time he pick the snake head totem.
Much like many others, Vinny was thinking of aesthetic value over potential practicality.
I genuinely think he just wasn't thinking when he built his totem sometimes
It is not just like any normal thing, it is PHYSICAL F*CKIN PAIN
@@anankos795 He just doesn't get the Tribe thing. Seems to think it's random rather than "For any (Reptile/squirrel)"
@@charlysbonsaii9358 literally, I am not kidding in the slightest.
Ohh, just figured this out watching, that tiny mushroom that appears during card selection must be telling you what cards you already have so if you want you can get dupes for fungi man, who only fuses the same cards.
I knew that mushrooms indicated you already had it in your deck, but I wasn't aware this was _why_ it was a mushroom...
I appreciate the Vine Blind emoji being part of the thumbnail. I was watching this w/ chat and everyone was losing their goddamn minds, it was great
The collective sigh of relief in chat when he finally used the knife was pretty great to witness lmao
Is there a way to see the chat from the prerecorded stream?
@@Luciferspit I was worried he wouldn't pick that eye. Can you even pick the others?
@@EmilyTestAccount You can, yeah. Fun fact: if you choose the goat eye, the Black Goat card will blush at you.
@@Hevymin apparently you'll also have a weird eye in your deathcard too if you die in that run (or I guess win without having the spoiler item)
Everyone is saying "I can't believe Vinny didn't understand ____ mechanic" and I'm sitting here amazed how he could ask why you can't see how much HP you have in the fight by hovering over the scale when there's literally an arrow above it pointing to markers on how much health you or the opponent have left. Still, despite everyone complaining, he did manage to beat the moon, so it works out for him at least.
I think he wasn't sure about the markers, like:
Do you die if the arrow is pointing _at_ the big marker at the end, or if it _goes past_ the big marker
It's Vinny the same guy who spend hours on a. Bridge building game being utterly stubborn with his bridge design on a single level
@@MrSadisticLlama His bridge building games were my first vinny experience. Let me tell you. You're not wrong. Remember the 2-hour long scoop bit? Holy fuck I was in tears when it actually worked
its not "the blank mechanic" its the totem mechanic. you can say it
@@nyarg33 Also people are talking about him not getting the alpha/rock damage mechanic and the scale-health mechanic. So "blank Mechanic" is a catch all
Just started so IDK if he figures this out or not, but my favorite little secret is...
If you feed a card with a poisonous rune (like the adder) or just straight up any ol ringworm card to the survivors around the fire, they'll die; after that point, anytime you go to the fire during that run, there will be no survivors, and you can freely upgrade a card up to 5 times at every single campfire you come across. I ended up with I think a 3/11 Stoat, a 0/11 cat, a 2/10 Stunted Wolf, and some more shit I can't remember, so then I would just send them out to tank while I farmed cards. It's really cool this game let's you break it the way it does.
Agreed it reminds me off monster train
I had no idea
That's awesome
The devs thought poisonous = venomous though.
Nope. The poison sigil doesn't matter. The adder, long elk, and ring worm can all kill the survivors. No other card, with or without a poison sigil, can.
@@Eagle0600 oh shit fr? Huh, gotcha. Thanks for the addendum mate!
though i do really like inscryption, i kind of wish that i could also get the full game version of sacrifices must be made. As in, i loved the aesthetic and presentation of the original game jam version, wherein the player is the animals and the other side are the humans and forest outsiders, with that whole hunger and instinct throughline to it. That is, one of the engrossing things about the jam version was the constant reminders of the animalistic need to eat, and sacrifice, especially with it ending in the choice of who to consume, along with the pliers and knife effects on your character being permanent. I liked that desperation and feeling of the walls closing in, while it was unclear if you were held hostage by a madman or some forest spirit.
100% agree
First of all and unrelated, I love your Uncle Death profile picture. Secondly I agree-- I LOVE how Inscryption fully fleshed-out the concept in directions I never would have guessed, but at the same time, the jam version has an undeniably strong, consistent aesthetic going for it. Sure, it's simplistic just having this hunger motif with the whole "animals vs. man" schtick, but it was solid. I like them both regardless, and I feel you 100%.
@@polocatfan As of a recent update, there is! _Kaycee's Mod_ (it's actually legit and canon, made by an in-universe character) is literally an endless run mode of Leshy's Cabin, with optional challenge modifiers and new lore to collect. It's in open beta right now (Steam version of Inscryption only), there's a news post for the game about how to activate it.
Leshy did a great job
Never knew if you combined strange larva with undying you received mothman back, that's OP
You can give to the Skink then when he sheds his tail it comes back in your hand too
If you give undying to a beehive, then the bees it makes also have undying. This means infinite sacrifice fodder. One of many such combos, including undying Skink, undying Goat, etc. Undying is the most broken sigil in act 1, easily
Vinny has decided to have an attention span of "no." this episode
And yet he still manged to pass the first act.
@@Dwizard3415 he has his ways
He decided to join the squirrels in terms of attention span. Jokes aside though, gotta give him credit in that a fair percentage of people end up dying like 5 to 6 times before making it all the way through Act 1. (Most often due to the Angler)
Doubt he’ll see it but binyot next time you get the ringworm let the survivors eat it and they’ll all die letting you be able to upgrade your cards to ludicrous degrees whenever you stop by a campfire
That sounds broken as all fuck
Whattttt
Yup, also works with the Long Elk and Adder. There might be others but I can't remember.
Another fun fact, the ringworm and ouroboros both count as rings at the end where it says "if you have a ring, you pass automatically".
I tried to do that but they just wouldn't eat it. So i got a 4 9 worm
@@alois9206 if they don’t you can exit out before the event resolves and reload to power other creatures up, ringworm acts as a canary in the coal mine in a sense to know if it’s safe to power up your creatures more than once till it’s eaten.
What a cliffhanger!
That was a great run and I'm *very* surprised Vinny got to the ending of the first part without chat's help. I was really worried he would not use the knife or the film roll in time.
I guess we have backseating cards to help in Chat's stead lol.
Act 1 is extremely handholdy to the point where chat backseating is unecessary. At a point the game gets fed up with you not getting it and will put a picture of what you should next directly into your face for a solid 10 seconds every time you die or beat the game(1:16:50) and eventually the talking cards will tell you straight up what to do. It's actually a bit patronizing.
Of course chat will try to backseat anyway because they have the patience of a rat.
Yeah, with how many times he's died in less than an hour, im surprised too.
@@GameBooAdvancePlus You'd think so, but I've seen several playthroughs where people just refuse to use the knife thinking it's a trap or an item they need to save for the end. Not that that excuses backseating, mind you.
It's fun watching people go crazy and I'm just laughing my ass off, great job that Vinny got thru the first act.
@@GameBooAdvancePlus or in this case, the patience of a stoat
The fact that Vinny is always accepting the opponent’s surrender means that he is missing out of getting any extra teeth for pelt.
I wonder if he will also forget this fact for the next act, since it pretty important to do for better cards.
To be fair though you can far, the dummy for infinite foils
@@marcar9marcar972Or just do the infinite buff mage and click it until you deal 666 damage, get an achievement, and enough foils for all the cards ever
This is so hard to watch, this must be how the stoat feels. Trapped in an eternal hell of bad plays
Among all of the cheese I was aware of, I was not aware of the unkillable mothman cheese. Still nowhere near the most broken thing I've seen. But the fact that it revives in your hand as a 1 cost mothman instead of the pupae again is pretty sick.
CBT definition:
1. Cock and ball torture.
2. Watching [Vinesauce] Vinny - Inscryption (PART 2).
Just beat act 1 of this game, can't wait to see Vinny's reaction, it's really something else
Geck is what we in the MTG commander sphere call a “voltron” card. A low cost (in this case no cost) 1/1 that you just buff stack endlessly to rush out a strong creature before the enemy can handle it.
I loved watching this on twitch, and seeing Chat going crazy
Past Vinny is inmune
I'm sad that there's no chat archive for the preview version of this, I really want to see how people reacted to the intense bungling. I would have personally been losing my mind at vinny refusing to use the squirrel totem head for some reason.
it was a lot of "vinny...", NotLikeThis, and "THE KNIFE". Having chat react to a past Vinny that can't hear us is pretty fun, wish Twitch could archive the rerun chats
@@number1fen especially annoying because he gave up the trip to value town that is worthy sacrifice squirrel totem, which is really only second in my heart to the etb tutor squirrel totem.
as someone who was there it was hilarious how often chat went VINNY NOOOOOOOO and trying to time travel to tell vinny from the past
1:25:03 "Oh the squirrel has it now"
Hmmmmm maybe it's the fact that it has a _squirrel head_ on it.
Hmmmm, maybe, that's a clue.
It wasn't streamed so there is no chat
This is the most invested I have ever been with a card game. Genuinely interesting
Getting random coordinates and going out to dig while being recorded is such a jerma thing. I wish he was the actor for it
if jerma had been the actor for this game, it would have killed the horror aspect completely and made it into a total tonal whiplash. some funny internet men can make cameos without it completely derailing the tone, but jerma's just sincerely not capable of making anything serious. he's a living, breathing comedy factory.
@@drewbabe I don't think Inscryption is really a horror game at all. A lot of it feels so campy and tongue-in-cheek that you don't ever actually feel scared. That's not a criticism by the way, I'm a total wimp so I really appreciate a game that has a spooky vibe while still being fun.
I just recently beat this game and I bought it because of Vinny’s play through. I absolutely love it.
I'm wondering if the sentient cards are slowly becoming human again. The stink bug's face is giving me that theory.
they aren't human but yes
The Stoat is just turning into a rectangle.
Heavily digging this game, think you sold me on a purchase Vinny.
Be forewarned the gameplay and style here is only about a 3rd of the game. The other acts are very different (and the systems are flat out worse imo) and just ARG stuff with a really overdone cliche story from here on.
Vinny has made me buy like 6 games so far lol
@@CptSnowLoss It isn't ARG stuff. It is a linear story. You don't have to decode binary to understand the basic plot. It has a good emotional punchline at the end without needing any ARG digging. This developer is always hiding these kinds of changes in his games. It's even hinted at in the trailer. Besides, rolling over the game with broken squirrel totems would get old.
20 minutes into stream one I bought the game and beat it in a couple days. Must say. Expectations subverted. In a good way? I don't know. Good game, not what I was expecting when I bought it though.
@@uberculex I beat the game without solving a couple of the puzzles, so I feel like I missed a lot. That correct? Never figured out what the flower pot in the cabin did or the rune pillar in the foundry.
"Well that was a good run!" - Vinny, having finished basically the game's tutorial.
This was a trip of a game, I enjoyed stoat so much, probably my favorite Minecraft character.
Squoat
Idk if he's gonna see this, but Vinny if you do. Watching the card opener section with captions on is legitimately helpful for understanding some things. It's not a big thing but helps in unraveling a bit of the mystery.
@@EdibleGymSock
If I remember correctly, there is a few caption where it appear as binaries, such as when that woman that knock in Luke’s door.
@@EdibleGymSock There are a few secrets.
At 47:10 he only had two cards without sigils… he was guaranteed to pass the sigil trial…
spoilers for this extremely new video
Having played the game I skipped through to the sequence starting at 2:03:00 and was very glad to see Vinny managed to get everything he needed on his first go rather than having to go through the whole first part twice.
That whole fourth boss fight slaps. Great music, great theming, fantastic rugpull afterwards. So looking forward to him experiencing the rest of this wild ride.
I think he did have to go through the first part twice, didn't he?
Or do you mean that he didnt have to restart when he got to 2:03:00 ?
Edit: Nevermind, I see what you mean now. I'm glad he picked that one.
Vinny missed out early on by not choosing Squirrel + Ant Spawner totem. It's so fucking broken. Get a free ant with every squirrel you play, and they get stronger with each ant you place.
This is actually how I beat Leshy after countless failed runs lol.
Nah you gotta get the squirrels that return to your hand after death
@@AndrewJohnson-ny5nx Yep, that's what I did. Honestly it seems that the squirrel totem is basically a failsafe to make sure that every player beats Leshy to get to the next act. Pretty much every squirrel totem combination is utterly broken.
@@AndrewJohnson-ny5nx
Nah, you get the squirrel that replicates itself when you play it.
Literally infinite squirrel before you even start.
Squirrel + Goat Sigil broke the game for me. Put one squirrel down, replace it with a 3 blood card.
Anyone else driven insane by Vin's lack of doing basic math before pulling the trigger every turn? The games he lost because he didn't bother to tell how much health he had left, or when he gave up an easy win because he didn't just tribute two cards for a more powerful one in an open slot for a direct attack win?
Or when he didn't figure out which abilities stacked were OP? Or when he accepts his opponents surrender instead of continuing on to get more teeth for pelts? Or how he NEVER looks at what his opponents cards are coming up next when planning what to play and where?
I was too busy screaming at the screen when he made the wrong totem or inscribed the wrong sigil.
Hes bad at anything requiring thinking
So glad to see this become a series.
When he picked a wolf over the black goat I almost spiked my phone
I can't believe binty just threw away immortal squirrel totem, seems like one of the strongest ones you could get.
Edit: what does he think the heads even do?
I’m pretty sure he doesn’t understand the totem mechanic at all, nor remember the sigils unless he reads it.
Two example is how he lost his cat due to the Alpha’s ability and put a non anti-air card to block a flying card.
Edit:
Also, Immortal Squirrel is nice, but can get annoying if you need to remove it from the deck.
A better ability for the Squirrel would be either the Unkillable ability (from the Cockroach) or the Replicate ability (from the Mouse).
Unkillable so if you do sacrifice the Squirrel, you’ll get the Squirrel back. Which mean that you can either remove the Squirrel from the table to place another card, or place the Squirrel back to sacrifice again.
Replicate is even stronger since you literally won’t need to pick up any Squirrels other than the first one you draw, since the moment you play the first Squirrel card, you get another Squirrel card. In short, you can place 4 Squirrels during the first turn.
@@Zack_Zander Unkillable squirrels is insane. Draw four squirrels at the start of the fight and you have infinite mana/four free blocks. So OP it actually kills the fun
@@LankyMF a lot of the sigils can make the squirrel really overpowered. I plowed through the first act when I got the search sigil allowing me to draw any card from my deck as soon as I place a squirrel. I decimated the trapper and Leshy, and felt robbed of an exciting "final" boss. Might have to replay the game once I finish it to try to beat it without the extra cards and items from the cabin.
Fecundity Squirrels is absurd. One squirrel is infinite blood.
Squirrel totem is the best
I want a mod for this game that just turns this into a roguelike where you alternate between the characters.
I know at this point it looks like a roguelike but people who have gone through it knows what I mean.
Right it would be cool to see how the other characters would tell their stories with cards
Yeah, I would love stand-alone game modes where you do a run on each character's board (including their decks) with the same little puzzles in the room, and randomize those as well, like clock time, slide panels, etc.
Well we are getting that with the kaycee's mod update
The one thing nobody has mentioned that I've noticed is Vinny not looking at the cards the dealer is about to play, especially when he should be trying to block. A 2/1 coyote will be about to come in, the game showed in the tutorial that Stoat with its 1/3 can be played to block it then kill it, and IDK if Vinny ever actually did that again.
But then again he did die to a boulder.
Everyone in Twitch chat including myself was screaming at past Vinny for foregoing the blood / squirrel totem combo opportunities. Thankfully that bone /squirrel totem worked out really well.
Leshy, Truly he was a wonderful DM.
...
Aside from his BearRoading
and the fact that he actually essentially kills the people who played his game while he was the great scrybe, canonically. the deathcards Leshy uses that aren't your own are characters from the game's lore, including Kaycee and Louis. (not really a spoiler, you don't even know what these names mean until later.) I'm not sure, but I think the idea is that either he doesn't kill Luke immediately because it's been so long since someone booted up the game and he doesn't want to wait another long period before he can play again, or because Luke as piloted by you is a special case because of undertale-like reasons (you're a real person, while Kaycee and Louis were not.)
the funny thing is this role playing Leshy does is just him having fun but vinny gets into it
thats what makes it fun!
Just goes to show he's an engaging scrybe. Unlike a certain computer...
@@projectD1S po3's absolute stink face when you win is p.good though
Binyorp has either never seen a squirrel or a lizard
I hope Vinny doesn't stop playing now. I hope he understands that "New Game" isnt **New Game**
I love that "crusty" was his first reaction to Leshy
2:14:35 Think Vinny. This whole game was just a Intervention for your Pokémon Car addiction.
So glad Vinny is continuing this series! I bought the game after watching him play and I've really enjoyed it so far.
I am SO happy you're continuing this.
Yeah it's a really really amazing game and yeah it does get better.
This playthrough is something to look forward too for sure!
I love watching these card games. These are amazing.
I’m also a slay the sleeper fan though so take what I say with a grain of salt. Lol
To anyone suffering through this video, rest assured that Vinny does remember to respec all of his Yot points into luck in the final run.
This is the most fascinating card game I have ever seen. Can't wait until he plays more of it.
Also the Stinkbug looks vaguely similar to a weird clown. To me at least.
The more you play through, the more they stop looking like their original animal
Act 1 of the game is definitely noteworthy and I'm excited for Vinny to see the rest of what the game has to offer by choosing "New Game"
Finally caught a Vinesauce stream. He spent 2 hours ignoring obvious advantages and losing constantly. Great entertainer he is
I'm so happy you're playing more of this.
I think the forced card choice keeps things interesting. Every round is chance to evolve the meta.
When the game hints you _twice_ to put down the wolf statue
It's like the Stoat is turning into a tree or a bush...man that's weird
Definitely becoming rectangular.
turning into Steve Minecraft
I have never yelled at my computer so many times in my lifetime.
"lets see the difference the chat makes"
*nervously looks at thumbnail*
I like how the vineBlind emote in the thumbnail represents two things in this stream
Vinny quite literally VineBlinding his way through the game
I love this so much.

What kind of logic is "I don't want to waste my items even though I'll lose if I don't use them". Binny please!

1:17:00 I'm glad they legit have a big hint thing, perfect for Vinny vineblinding
I just beat the game and I literally didn't know that was a thing that could happen, it's such an easy puzzle. Then again, I design escape rooms, so I may have a bit of an unfair advantage over Vin.
It's 1am. I cannot take the stress of past live stream man Vinny playing video game badly.
I love how people feel bad about the change in the looks and way of the game after chapter one, which is like they snatched your game away when you were at the top and sent you to a new game, but i honestly prefer it that way for the story and to keep the game fresh, even if most probably people prefer to just get the same thing, which for that they should of absolutely made an endless mode
Thanks for playing this game again I love seeing it and I'm happy you enjoy it
Another valid title for this game;
Poor lost new yorker uses his last brain cell to attempt to play purgatory mtg
Vinny vine blinding the numbers for the death card and choosing 0 damage and 1 health was hilarious
i just wanted to see vinny become the antman. ants. ANTS. ANTS.
Screaming at my screen BEGGING vinny to put the eternal life on squirrels or the bone lord sigil on squirrels or the worth 3 blood sigil on squirrels.
The VineBlind thumbnail should have prepared me for the salt in these comments
Watching Vin pass up Mantis God and Oroboros hurts so much
On the cusp of an easy run
Can't believe this card game was just a Jerma reference all along
Seeing Vinny not having Chat's help and him making very easily avoidable mistakes infuriates me to my core
Vinny not gleaning how the totems work is fucking infuriating.
Your icon sends this perfectly
Glad to see a part 2!
Thanks to Vinny I got into Slay the Spire and Monster Train on Switch.
To my sadness Inscription isn't on Switch. :(
Hopefully one day.
The game requires you to do stuff you are unable to on a switch.

Meanwhile, thank you very much for suck a long non-stream video! :D
Who else was screaming at the screen when Vinny wouldn’t sacrifice weird even though it’s literally infinite squirrels?
YES PART 2 OF INSCRYPTION YOU DONT KNOW HOW HAPPY I AM
very excited for Vinny to play more Inscryption
Vinny should name one of his Deathcards Shrimp Lady.
May her shrimp be fresh forever.
Man, Vinny may be terrible at thinking his moves through, but this playthrough is definitely making me want to buy this game myself.
2:14:54 Vinny balances out the backseating he gets from chat for his bad plays by backseating the game for bad card pulling
Wow he really is helpless without outside influence
Honestly vinny gets backseated so much that i ignore the “vineblind” and “i am in pain” comments. But holy shit is this playthrough extra special. Watching vinny at around 1:26:40 go “am i gonna die from this? Probably?” then scrolls over a full inventory of items, clearly pondering the choices, followed by “oh well,” ending his turn using no items, and losing the run made me feel an emotion my human brain is not fully equipped to handle
Vin there's MOAR GAEM! you've merely got thru act 1
of course he didnt read why ouroboros is so good classic vinny
just finished the first part while doing school work and now I'm done and I get to watch part 2 Edit: after finishing this part I can say with 100% certainty that this game rocks
I'm not even frustrated at the mistakes, just worried about what obvious shit I missed while playing and will never find out about because I didn't record it.
Oh my favorite video game trope. Wondering in the woods.
Me every time i see vinny go to the candlestick dying as he clicks the empty candles, but not the one he needs to click on each time
31:45 "I still like that one the best" he confidently remarks after demonstrating over and over that he has no idea what it does
I am not physically able to comprehend what his thought process was at that moment.
Congrats on beating the tutorial Vin!
Thank GOD we have a part 2.
the trapper fight was super easy to cheese by getting all traps on his field- and than getting a monster with fly and high damage after drawing your entire deck and getting a ton of pelts.
also deathcards op, triple hit flying no cost monster with 7 attack and 7 health, i was shredding
The pain of seeing Vinny repeatedly use lizard totems instead of squirrels then choke for resources match after match
